sakura’s phone starts to ring, vibrating against the white clothed table. hinata watches the way she makes a face at the caller ID. “dear god, why is he calling me?” she answers the call. “what do you want, naruto?” “yo! sakura-chan!” hinata freezes. that was him. it was him. “shouldn’t you be chugging beer or something?” “hey, you’re no better than me! ya wino.” “wino? who are you calling a -” sakura cuts herself off short. her suspicion rises. “wait, how did you know I’m -?” “do ya think I could borrow hinata for a teeny sec? I like that color on ya, by the way. is that new? you go, girl.” so many questions. so many - “hinata? I never showed you this dress -” “yoohoo! ooover here.” sakura looks up. the frown in her face deepens. "no..." hinata whips her head around so fast that she nearly gives herself a crick. ino and fuu copy, pot and kettle. “uzumaki naruto, you did not -!”

Ino couldn't be happier with her life right now:

First off, she was now the new owner of her family's flower shop. Her parents had been taking care of it for years, but since Ino now has a masters degree, they have enough faith in their daughter to keep the family business strong and alive. Second, and the most obvious, Ino was now six months pregnant with her first child.

When she found out she was to the moon with excitement and happiness. She couldn't wait to tell her husband Sasuke the news when he came home that night from work. They talked about starting a family for a time now, and being with child was truly a blessing.

Sasuke did so much since he discovered she was pregnant: Working extra hours as a fire-fighter, prepared a nursery for the baby, and everything else under the sun for his beloved wife. She tries to tell him that she can do stuff, but he is a stubborn Uchiha; once they get their mind set, there's no changing it.

He even went out of his way to get her the strawberry shortcake she's been craving from their favorite bakery. What a wonderful husband~.

She enjoyed the cake to its fullest, but knowing it was brought to her with love made it all the sweeter.

Humans were a curious breed...

Always trying to find something unknown and claim it as theirs.

But there was one thing they could never claim no matter how hard they tried; the ocean.

Ino, an elusive mermaid, ventured through the waters with ease. She easily fooled sailors into thinking she was a vicious siren with her melodic voice. It kept the others safe and it was rather fun to see grown men cower like that.

This time though, she wasn't trying to scare anyone. This time, she was looking for one of them; a peculiar little sailor boy that caught her eye. He would come out to sea every few days to fish. Sometimes he was alone, other times he was with others.

Thankfully today, he was by himself doing his usual fishing. She was a safe distance away, but she took the risk to get closer. She cleared her throat and started to sing.

The man of her attention heard the sudden music, a melody so pure and clear like the ocean waves. It was mesmerizing, but also calming...Almost like a lullaby.

Normally, it'd be dangerous to sleep out at sea, but it was as if the ocean itself was speaking to him. Little did he realize he was being serenaded..

As the song continued, he relaxed in his boat, leaning back letting the motion of the ways rock him to sleep.

Ino chuckled, her song was a success! Her reward was to watch over him as he was fast asleep. She had to admit, he was pretty handsome.

Maybe she'll sing for this one more often.
