General Prompt: Put Your Villain on Trial
From 27 Fiction Writing Blunders - And How Not To Make Them! by James Scott Bell:
“One of the techniques I teach in my workshops is borrowed from my courtroom days. I ask people to imagine their villain has been put on trial and is representing himself. Now comes the time for the closing argument. He has one opportunity to make his case for the jury. He has to justify his whole life. He has to appeal to the jurors’ hearts and minds or he’s doomed.
“Write that speech. Do it as a free-form document, in your villain’s voice, with all the emotion you can muster. Emphasize what’s called “exculpatory evidence.” That is evidence that, if believed, would tend to exonerate a defendant. As the saying goes, give the devil his due.
“Note: This does not mean you are giving approval to what the villain has done. No way. What you are getting at is their motivation. This is how you know what’s going on inside your villain’s head throughout the entire novel.”

CONFESSION TIME (Bellamy Blake x Reader)
Request: Hi!!! I don’t know if you’re still taking requests but if you are, Can I get a one shot where the reader and Bellamy are very close with each other and (they both have these huge crushes on each other) what started out as playful tickling/wrestling now has them in a very comprising position which leads to some confessions? A little smutish? Idk if that makes sense but thank you!!

“Y/N, please.” He begs, his eyes wide as he hides a smile. “Don’t.”
You just smile back, holding the bucket in your hands and making a painfully slow decision. “I don’t know, Bell…” You muse, looking him up at down at his outstretched hands, trying to convince you not to throw the water at him. “You do deserve it.”

I work on myself daily to be a better person. When I react in a negative way to somebody, I sit back and think about why I did it, so I’m always working on myself, and my music is the same.

Better the devil you know- Chapter 1 (Octavia Blake x Reader)
A/N: This is story is set before season 5 of The 100, during the time in the bunker. Not all details might be exactly accurate and I might have strayed from canon a little bit. it’s also a first person POV and the reader will get a name in the next chapter.
Summary: Despite not knowing her very well, the reader tries to convince Octavia to step into the leadeship role and unite Wonkru, putting an end to the fighting and disagreements that threaten their survival underground.
It was terrifying. Countless people from countless clans, all shoved into one locked cage, deep, deep underground. No sun, no air, nothing but the angry, nervous breaths of a thousand people. It was stifling.
And there she was. Our saviour. Our hope or our doom, the edge we were all balancing on. But they weren’t looking at her with gratitude or relief. No one was smiling. There were angry shouts, all mingled together, and they bounced and echoed off the walls and filled the already saturated air. We were airtight, under pressure, and we were about to explode.
“Kane, what’s happening?” I turned to what seemed like the only familiar face. Clarke, Bellamy, Raven and Monty, so many of the people I cared about were gone. And everyone else I knew seemed to have drifted a hundred miles apart, even in this finite bunker.
“They don’t want Skaikru in charge. They’re all fighting about what clan should have the power.”
“But we’re Wonkru. This is ridiculous, we need to survive together. They’re just going to kill each other.”
“We need Octavia but she’s not cooperating.”
I didn’t know what I was doing, but the noise was getting to my head. “Let me try too. What’s there to lose? Maybe one more push is all it takes for her to break.”
Even as I said it, even as I made my way to the door, I hated myself for it. What right did I have to interfere? To ask someone to sacrifice themselves.
                                           *************************
The door closed and muffled everything. I was underwater, and when she turned, her eyes met mine and I struggled to breathe. Even down here, trapped and burdened, she was terrifying. Despite being sheathed, the sword at her side seemed more like a loaded gun, pointed and ready. Because Octavia was a caged tiger, and I’d just walked into its den.
“You’re our only hope.” I said to the girl who terrified me. The girl I’d never spoken to before. I said it because I had to say something, but it was hard to think with claws at my throat.
“Aren’t you the girl who followed my brother around wherever he went?”, she cut, her sword still at her hip.
I cursed myself for this. I’d just offered myself as a punching bag. A stress reliever.
I closed my eyes to gather my thoughts. But only a second, a blink. Then they flicked to her side before finding her face again.
“Whatever happened with me and Bellamy, it’s none of your business.” My tone rose despite myself. The air in the room was too tight. My thoughts were whirling.
“Nothing happened. And it is, he’s my brother.” She smirked, but her eyes were blank shards of ice. And the rest of her was just as frigid. She was terrified.
“I’m not here about that, Octavia.” I made myself calm. Careful.
“I know we don’t know each other, but- I want to thank you. You saved us. So, regardless of what the people outside this door think, I believe in you. Because you didn’t choose between Skaikru or Trikru. You didn’t choose a side, you chose humanity.”
She listened. Still as a cat, she kept her eyes on me, their intensity unnerving. Every word felt wrong. Like it gave away priceless information, about me, about how she could take me down, destroy me. The more I spoke the more I turned the key in the lock. Sealing my doom, opening the cage.
“You were brave and you were strong, and you were kind.”, I continued. “And I’m not the only one who thinks you’re the only hope we have. You got us here, so many of us. But now we’re all in danger because of the petty clan wars you were trying to prevent. And you can. You’ve gotten so far. Further than anyone else. You just need to keep pushing.”
“I don’t need your encouragement”, was all she said. Spat.
“I’m just trying to get you to see that you can do this-”
“For some reason you all think you need my help. You don’t. I have nothing to offer. This is not my problem.”
“But so many lives depend on you!”, I carried on despite the fear in my chest; the voice in the back of my mind, hissing at me to shut my mouth and run away.
“You’re the only one who can put an end to this. Who has enough power to get them to listen. And I know that’s so much pressure- no, I don’t even know how much pressure it is. But I know it should be enough to send anyone running the other way. And it shouldn’t be carried by one person. But it doesn’t have to be. There are people who want to help you help them. And what other choice do we have? You don’t want this, but right now, you have the power to make this right.”
“It’s not my responsibility.”
“It isn’t and it shouldn’t have to be. But they wouldn’t listen to anyone else. Octavia, what other choice do we have?”
“It’s not my problem!” She shouted, and the anger made it bearable. She was human. She was feeling. And she was defending herself because she was afraid. Pushing wouldn’t help. I had to tell her it was alright.
I took a step, and then another. “This is terrifying. I know you think you can’t do it. But you’re not alone. And no one will blame you if you can’t. They’ll only blame you if you don’t try.”
                                            *************************
“It isn’t and it shouldn’t have to be. But they wouldn’t listen to anyone else. Octavia, what other choice do we have?” She pleaded with me like she knew me. Like she had the right to ask anything of me.
None of them did. I’d saved them. I’d done my part. Willingly, I’d given them all I had without looking back, without regretting. Now it felt like my biggest mistake. They wanted more. The bastards always wanted more.
“It’s not my problem!” The words ripped out of me, and I wanted them to burn everything in their path. I wanted there to be nothing left but fire and ashes. We should have stayed on the surface. We should have let Praimfaya wash us away.
Of course I hadn’t put an end to it. There was no end. There was never any time to stop and think. There was never any time to grieve.
Her legs shaking, she took a step towards me. Two. Too much, she was too close, asking too much. There was no time, no space for me, just me. They were all flooding in with their shouts and their pleas as if I knew how to help them.
“This is terrifying. I know you think you can’t do it. But you’re not alone. And no one will blame you if you can’t. They’ll only blame you if you don’t try.”
She looked at me with such pity that I felt sick. This girl I didn’t know, thought she should come here and comfort me. She thought I needed it.
And they were all counting on me. A thousand people whom I barely knew. I’d saved them only to put another gorge in their path. If I left them now, it would be betrayal. Carrying them halfway across the sea only to let them drown, watch them drown, and go down with them.
“It’s not fair.” I gave up. I gave up because there was nothing left in me to struggle. And because the more I tried, the more I was ashamed. I was making excuses for the deaths of a thousand people.
She shook her head and apologised like she carried the regrets of all those people. Like it hurt her that I had to make this choice.
There was a bitterness taking over me, but I forced a smile, shaking my head at this whole ordeal before asking the first thing that came to mind. “Did my brother tell you to look after me?”
She paled, then blushed. It was ridiculous. “I’m not looking after you. I’m here telling you to face an angry mob and make yourself their leader.”
I narrowed my eyes. “You said I wouldn’t be alone. One minute you tell me it's okay and the next you tell me I’m doomed?”
She snorted. “You’re not alone. I mean of course I’ll try to help you, because you don’t deserve this at all. I just don’t feel like I’m doing you a great big favour.”
“You didn’t really answer my question.” I made my voice a playful challenge. It was painful, to pretend like this, with this love-struck girl who thought I needed her comfort. But it felt like a distant normality. It felt like escape.
The girl blushed again. “When I last talked to Bellamy, we thought we’d see each other again. Hoped. So no, he didn’t say anything about you.”
“What did he say then?” I needed it to keep going. A little longer. Anything.
She went bright red, and I enjoyed the power. “I just told him to be careful and he said he will be.” She brushed it off quickly. Then she seemed to suddenly remember, and snapped to life: “Did you talk to him? Is he alright?”
“He is. He...was. They were getting ready.” I didn’t want to think about that last call that had been cut off so short. “So he did talk to you then? You weren’t just a hopeless follower?”, I teased.
Her eyes narrowed with such determination, my own eyebrows twitched upwards. “Monty and Raven, Bellamy, Clarke and Harper, even Murphy- I was close to all of them. And now they’re gone.”
“But you did like my brother more-”
With a satisfactory snap, she exploded. “Yes, I used to have a crush on your brother when I was like 15 but he’s not the type of guy to hold that against you, and people move on from childhood crushes and we were both mature enough to move past that and just interact like normal people!”
She kept her eyes on me, even as they were still shooting sparks. “So can we please also move on from whatever happened in the past and just stay in the present?”
And just like that, all at once, any humour, any challenge I had, drained from me. “I don’t really feel like spending too much time in the present.”
Her face softened and I just wanted to push her away. Throw her out through door.
“Let’s just get this over and done with, Octavia. Kane and Jaha are waiting to help. Like I said, you’re not alone. And the sooner we get out of this mess, the sooner I can tell you all the embarrassing things I used to do to get your brother to notice me. The sooner we can leave the present.”, she shrugged and grimaced, as if we were sharing some private joke.
She said it with such determined defeat, that it drew a smile out of me. It was so simple, so casual and yet as if she was sacrificing her innermost secret. So despite myself, I felt grateful to her. For acting so outrageously normal. For making me feel normal.
She was offering me her hand, and not to laugh when she drew it away. She had an obligation to help me, but she didn’t want me to stay down either. Didn’t want to watch me tend my wounds alone.
Somehow, that simple shrug, that mundane sacrifice, had been so honest that I trusted her more than I had when she was giving her speech about hope and responsibility. She walked in a stranger, but as she mirrored my smile as easily as she’d drawn it from me, she walked out an ally, following me through the door.

Murphy: No one is judging you. It's understandable. Bellamy is strong and mysterious and sort of compact but well-muscled.
Clarke: I am not having sex with Bellamy, but I'm starting to think that you might be.
