Once again, Jayce and Viktor are framed as opposing, balancing light and dark. But neither of them are entirely light or dark, they're both. Viktor is a point of white in the dark, and Jayce is a point of black in the light. They're visualized as yin and yang, two sides of the same thing, together making a united whole.

What I really like about this is that, it's not that Jayce is Viktor's light side, or vice versa. It's not that simple. They're both each other's light and dark side. They've both been each other's salvation and downfall.

Buck pouts from where he’s sitting at the table in Eddie’s kitchen the same way he does when Eddie says no to more ice cream for him and Chris. Except this time the tips of his ears are shaded bright pink and Eddie can swear that the birthmark is darker than he’s ever seen it.

“No, Eddie, I don’t want you to hold my hand– actually I do, that’d be really nice, but that’s not why I’m asking you to be there.”

“To supervise.” Buck deadpans, shrugging one shoulder like he’s said the most casual thing in the world. Eddie wants to scream.

“Supervise?”

Buck rolls his eyes with his entire head and throws his hands up. For a moment Eddie wonders if that’s how he looked when his parents told him he can’t get a tattoo at fifteen. “Yeah! You’re a medic, and I want you present there to make sure they don’t impale me.”

Eddie rubs his temple as he feels a migraine approaching. Or it could be an aneurysm. “I think you mean impair. Impale means ‘to pierce with a sharp object’. Which, to my understanding, is the point of a piercing.”

“You know what I mean!” Buck whines in frustration.

“Buck, I don’t know anything about piercings,” Eddie knows it’s useless to argue. If Buck has set his mind into doing this, there’s no talking him out of it. “Where is this even coming from? You don’t even have your ears pierced, and now you wanna punch a hole through your dick?”
