I was never a fan of the stache, but I do admit he wore it well. As a fond farewell, I submit my favorite BTS pics of the Pornstache.

What if, the entire time Buck was watching Eddie talk on the phone like this, Eddie wasn't talking to anyone? Instead, Eddie had walked up and saw Buck working out and looking tasty. He was trying to hide his arousal by pretending to be on the phone with someone.
Totally not what happened, but the thought occurred to me and amused me.

The look on his face broke me. His wide brown eyes. He's just so sad. How Eddie's parents could have just taken Chris and left Eddie behind still enrages me. Eddie is their actual son, and he was clearly in crisis. Chris was upset and I can see him spending a few weeks away from his Dad, but not in Texas. He could have stayed with Aunt Pepa or his Great Abuela while Eddie's parents focused on him.
Of course, I do know that there is a good plot reason for Eddie being without Chris for a while, and I strongly want what I believe will be the end result of this time apart, so I will not complain too much about it. I just feel if we are supposed to like Eddie's parents this was the worst way to do it. I mean, the rage I feel when I think about Eddie's mom being in such a hurry to get out of Eddie's front door with Chris. "You can send his stuff, or we will buy it." Gees lady, show that much love for your own kid.
Lord, that look on his face though. I just want to roll up into the room and punch everyone in the face. Man needed a hug or something there.

My understanding of this is:
Eddie falling in line would be obeying orders, clean the toilet, do this do that. It is demeaning work, but he does the job and keeps the job.
A white person falling in line isn't about obeying the orders of the job, do this or do that, even a white person has to pay their bills, take care of kids, and eat. BUT what is bigoted is deliberately taking advantage of opportunities that you know you aren't qualified to have and reinforcing the racist atmosphere created by a boss. This would include but is not limited to knowing that Chim is forced to bus the tables in the kitchen like a busboy, and then leaving all your dishes on the table for him to do it. (don't contribute to the job they are being forced to do. Also, laughing at the boss's or others' jokes when those jokes make fun of or light of any minority. (Telling those jokes without provocation, is not falling in line. It is your own racism. Period.)
For anyone wondering, there's a very big difference between a person of colour "falling in line" under a bigoted boss and a white person falling in line under a bigoted boss and upholding the reductive and toxic workplace a bigoted boss creates. Hope that helps!

Latest Thoughts on the Latest Interview
"Guzman, however, promised that Eddie is trying. This is a journey. An ongoing one." Eddie has “so much healing to do before he even thinks about being the whole version of himself. He’s going to have to kind of rework his idealizations of the past and start to implement what he’s learned in the present.”
If we assume that the show is going to reveal Eddie to be gay, then I think we can feel assured that the reveal will be in season 8. However, I don't think we will get canon Buddie this season. If the journey is going to be long in regard to understanding himself, I don't see how he could do that, unpack his feelings for Buck, confess to Buck, have Buck come to his own realization, confess that he feels the same way, and then officially get together. If that happens in a short time, it will feel rushed. That said if the show were to do a time jump after Eddie has accepted who he is and in that time he has worked on his whole self during that time jump, the show would be in a better position to have him connect the dots for himself in regard to his feelings for Buck. It still may not end with Buddie canon, but the arrows will be clearly pointing to it.
At any rate, my read of Eddie was that he has always known that he feels attracted to men. The reasons he has stayed closeted have been touched on more in the last few seasons. (Catholic guilt) My hope was that his big realization would be that he has feelings for Buck, and this realization would force him to reexamine all the reasons he has pushed down and away his real attraction. The interview makes me think the story will not go in this direction. So even though this is my preference, I'm still more than willing to follow the story the writers are telling in the hopes that they do it justice, and taking it slow really should make it better. I do love the slow-burn trope, so I'm open.
As I read that last paragraph, I realized even more that it can't go in the direction I was hoping because the Kim storyline is already out there. Losing Chris is forcing him to reexamine himself, though not necessarily his attraction.
Where is this all going? I'm rambling now. lol

Here I go again.
Buck asks Eddie if his son is the real reason he doesn't date. Eddie responds with, "That and, they weren't my type."
This has been a flag for everyone who reads the subtext, but let's take a moment to look at the last GIF.
Eddie says they weren't his type. Buck turns around to look at them and probably assesses what makes them, 'not' Eddie's type because the girls were all subjectively pretty. There were also a variety of types of women there.
But look closely at the GIF. Eddie said they weren't his type. While Buck is glancing back, Eddie gives Buck a quick look that really screams, "You are it. You are the type." When I noticed this from the GIF edit, I thought it might be the creator slowing it down, but nope. If I look at the episode, it is the same or nearly the same. This is early season two, and I have always thought, in the early episodes, there was no intent to pair Eddie with Buck as anything but a friend. However, this scene makes me wonder at what point Tim M or whoever was writing changed their minds about adding in a subtextual narrative.
I find it very difficult to see this scene as a heteronormative exchange. In fact, it even feels like Eddie is pushing back a little to test where Buck stands. Buck as a character who lacks self-awareness gives a mixed signal answer. (which tracks with his character at this point and matches his coming-out arc.) **edited to clarify** Buck's mixed signal response to Eddie saying they aren't my type is, "Not mine either, at least not anymore."**
A few seconds later, Buck says Eddie has a weak excuse. My lovely and wonderfully sassy Eddie says, "You live in your invisible girlfriend's house, and you're telling me about weak excuses." He essentially points at Buck's closet door, but of course, this is something that Buck couldn't see or pick up on at the time. These moments are small in the grand scheme of the show as a whole so I'm afraid it will be forgotten. It would be nice to have some sort of throwback acknowledgment that this scene hasn't been retconned.
To backtrack a little bit here, I would also like to point out something else about the early timing or the writing of these characters as potentially queer. They are outside. (True I don't understand the ins and outs of filmmaking so there may very well be a reason for this.) But the shot itself is making them walk close together. Not just close, their shoulders are literally bumping against each other, hitting and knocking at each other in a way that might appear "unintentionally" intimate--until you remember they are outside. It seems to me like there are dozens of ways to shoot this thing that don't require them to be so casually physical with each other. For the scene to be shot like this and then consider the canon conversation that took place, it feels quite intentional that the writers wanted viewers to look closely for something else.
Whenever certain people call Buddie shippers delusional, I think about this. Subtextual language aside, the scenes are shot in such a way as to plant the idea of "More." There is attraction here. There is flirting.
Someone, somewhere wanted to tell this story from the start; and I'm not mad about it. I'm 100% here for it, and I'm ready for it to go down as the most epic love story I've ever watched or read about, but I also admit that I want it to be canon, not so I can throw it in anyone's face that their ship is wrong, but so I can prove I'm not some weirdo putting two hot guys together. I'm seeing a real romance being built. I want that validation as much as I want everyone under the LGBTQ umbrella to see representation for themselves on screen.
If you want to see the scene, go to about 3:05.

Inquiring Minds Want to Know
Tumblr media
Based on Oliver Stark's interview with GT, I would like to briefly talk about this:
Interviewer: "Alright, well next time we talk I want a list: his favourite pop diva, favourite queer film, favourite queer anthem. I want it all."
Oliver Stark: "I’ll have every answer and reasons why and timestamps for the scenes that won him over."
I believe it is time for part II of this interview where Stark answers the questions as promised. I think it would be cool if he asked Tim Minear and/or Ryan Murphy, so any answers he gives would be canon. Also, with Murphy's background you know he has ideas about this.
Interview here

Alright, he labeled this Don Diaz. It could be just a play on words, but if this is what Eddie is up to, who is he romancing? It's too soon for another woman. Just ask Kim or Marisol.
I can't see this happening with Buck so soon, but I'm not opposed to it. Obviously.
Maybe this is just Ryan in a hotel room playing around with how he labeled the pic. You know sometimes when you look cute, you have to take a photo of yourself.

Why so mean?
I didn't get to watch the episode yet, so I'm relying on Tumblr for spoilers. I do, however, watch a fair amount of Family Feud, so I'm a little taken aback at how many people are calling the players dumb, and giving little credit to their quick comeback and win. Our little 911 gang is not the first to win by stealing the game with the last question. The game is even designed so people can do just that. I've seen players pick up the last question, go for the grand prize, and tank there too. Winning this game mostly requires being in the zone and guessing what people of a particular survey had to say. It seems like our guys knew they weren't in the zone from the practice round. That probably added to their nervousness about answering the questions later. That said, there have been legitimate stupid answers, and if they had given one of those, I know it would have been the first thing posted.
I do enjoy Family Feud though. Sometimes the people they survey as well as the players are crazy horny people. Which reminds me, I'm surprised Ryan's jackrabbit answer wasn't there. That answer was mild compared to some of the insane answers I've heard. One time, the question was what type of transportation did Abraham Lincoln ride. You got the typical answers, of horse, carriage, and then one girl goes, "He rode Mrs. Lincoln." AND it was there. LOL
Here is another favorite from a different celebrity challenge.

One of the dumbest answers came from the Canadian version of the show.

How the f#ck strong is Oliver Stark? Not only could he take the weight of a full-grown man jumping on him, he also had another full-grown man slightly lifted off the ground already. He didn't even have to take a step to keep his balance. He just held them both. (Excuse me while I bite my lip in the corner.)
Off topic of Oliver and Ryan, but I feel like Buck could totally take Eddie up the stairs while Eddie's legs are wrapped around him. Thanks, Ryan Guzman for an idea that I have never considered because it didn't seem logistically plausible.

Family Feud aside. If Eddie confesses his love first, I can see this as a genuine Buck reaction.
First, he would look over his shoulder to see if he were trying to point at someone else... lol I just got through saying I wouldn't try to imagine how the confession happens.

This is true. If he is the first to realize he's in love, he will not be able to hide it without a Lemony Snicket level of fail happening. I don't really have a good reason for it, but I think I really want Eddie to realize it first and be the one to confess. I don't want to try and imagine it for myself. I want the show to take me there.
if buck realized he was in love with eddie he would white knuckle it through one shift with him while acting So Weird the whole time and then throw up from guilt, cry on maddie’s couch and show up to eddie’s house unannounced an hour later to confess to him in his kitchen
