some alters hold trauma/memories that they didn’t exist to experience / didn’t front during.
some alters have amnesia for moments they were there for.
like that’s really common. you have a dissociative disorder. you aren’t faking if you remember something you didn’t front for and you aren’t faking if you forgot something that you yourself literally did. our brains are trying to protect us. sometimes it does a good job with the amnesia thing and often times it doesn’t. there’s no real way to make amnesia convenient. like a lot of systems only get amnesia from switches, but a lot of us forget the day prior even if no switch occurred.
and although this post is about amnesiac systems, you’re valid if you don’t have amnesia either, or not very much. everyone is different. every system is different.

This wasn't meant to be edgy or anything, I just wasn't sure how else to draw it
Often in our system we experience masking as our host a lot, even me, who IS one of our hosts. I still find myself masking as our other one
A lot of systems deal with it and I just wanted to draw it

plurality is not wanting to be alone and feeling thankful for your headmates' presence
plurality is wanting time to yourself and feeling frustrated that you can't get away from your headmates
plurality is having people who truly understand every part of you and your life
plurality is having people who can always hear your thoughts, even when you don't want them to
plurality is being able to get a break from the world by switching
plurality is missing out on something you wanted to do because you switched out
plurality is... a lot. a lot of good, a lot of bad. whenever you're experiencing a lot of the bad, remember that there's always some good waiting around the corner.

No one talks about how difficult it is to find a career path as a system. Everyone in the system wants to do their own thing, and now we have to find what suits us best.. difficult as fuck.

Shout-out to all those who really do need to keep track of system stuff to be able to manage and stay healthy (as a system or in general). A lot of plural advice posts I see advocate for letting go of the pressure for always knowing who's in front, or when you switch, or whatever – which, for the record, is good advice... for the systems who feel pressured and are stressing themselves out over figuring out every little thing. But for some of us, it's not pressure – it's how we manage our conditions.
Our system needs to know how many headmates are fronting any given time so we can correctly identify and manage the issues that come with too few or too many in front. We also try to keep track of who we are and who's fronting, as letting ourselves drift without identity for too long typically ends up hurting more than helping. It's not wrong to need to keep track of such things in order to function – it's just one way of taking care of your mental health. You're not setting yourself back if this is how you take care of yourself.
Everyone's recovery, methods of self-care, and ways that they manage life in general will vary from person to person (or system to system). It's alright if you need some organizational structure to do what's best for you

I hate when DID is horrible and awful but also funny but you cant talk about it being awful because then you're attention seeking and you cant talk about the good times because then you're romanticizing a disorder and if you talk about it at all you're faking and AHHHHHHHHH

We don't see people as whole and flawed, we don't know why. Maybe it has to do with us switching and forgetting conversations other alters had with the person. Maybe it's because all we know is what it feels like to be split, so we try to fit the outside world into the same boxes.
Either way it's terrible. All our emotions can and do exist at the same time, of course the same works for others. Especially singlets. We need to leave whatever is holding us to the expectation that people can only be one thing, that anyone can only feel and present one way.
Intentions are important, but if someone really has good intentions their actions will reflect that. This doesn't mean they never mess up, but instead means they do whatever they can to grow as a person afterwards.

guy with telepathy but he can't use it because every time he tunes into someone else's mind their unique perception of all of reality is so fundamentally different than his own and so incomprehensible that he just immediately passes out like a lovecraftian horror protagonist

systems, here’s your reminder to not compare yourself to other systems.
don’t get me wrong, hearing the experiences of others and seeing how yours aligns with theirs can be very beneficial! but don’t get down on yourself over your differences.
some systems have great internal communication, while others have none at all.
some systems switch very often, while others switch very rarely.
some systems seem to know almost everything about their system, while others know almost nothing.
… i could go on, listing ways that the system experience can differ. no two systems are identical, and no two systems experience plurality the same way.
you aren’t faking just because your experience differs from others’. if the comparisons are starting to stress you out, consider stepping away from system spaces for a few days. give yourself time to reflect, then come back with fresh eyes. you’ll be better off because of it.

HOW AUTISM CAN INTERACT WITH A COMPLEX DISSOCIATIVE DISORDER
higher rates of introjection - this is something commonly spoken about in the online CDD community, meaning it is a shared experience even if there is little proper medical research on the topic. however, it has been observed that some autistic pwCDDs have more introject alters (specifically fictional introjects - sometimes called 'fictives') than their allistic counterparts. this may be due to hyperfixation on fictional media, or splitting alters sourced from special interests.
splitting due to overwhelm - meltdowns, shutdowns and other reactions to overstimulation in autistic people can lead to splitting new parts, as these situations can be highly stressful.
autistic traits differing per alter - since autism is a neurodevelopmental disability that affects the entire brain, every alter will have some variation of ASD. however, different alters may struggle with/experience different autistic traits! where one alter may struggle more with, say, language and communication skills, another alter may be more proficient in that area. however, the second alter may then struggle instead with a compulsive need for strict, unbroken routines. this is how the spectrum can present differently in different alters.
unpredictable social situations and the stress of social interaction can cause more switching - as social situations can be more stressful for autistics than our allistic counterparts, it should be noted that these can be triggers for rapid switching! we may rapid switch in order to find a part that is best suited to handle the situation, which can end in switching multiple times as a lot of autistic people struggle to cope in uncomfortable social situations, such as at school/work, during conflicts, or at events. (written with input from @kityenok; thank you!)
semi-verbality, verbal shutdown and abilities to communicate varying per alter - in autistics with variable ability to communicate, the proficiency at communication can vary between alters! in semi-verbal/semi-speaking pwCDDs, some alters may have a few more words than others, while others struggle more than the rest of the system. in autistics with frequent verbal shutdowns, there may be alters who rarely if ever experience speech loss, while there are others who are permanently in a state of verbal shutdown. the ability to communicate non-verbally (using body language, signing, or even using assistive technology and speech-to-text) can fluctuate, with certain alters being less effective at using these methods than others. (note: from what i have heard from non-verbal/non-speaking pwCDDs, all alters tend to lack mouth words. if this is inaccurate to your experience, feel free to share!)
of course, there are more ways that autism can influence and interact with alters in CDDs! if you would like to add to this list, feel free to do so. ^^
