all of our ideas for the final "chapter" of bugmeshi are really vague because we want to make it kind of surreal like the climax of dunmeshi but we still need to figure out important stuff like What The Giant's Lair Is Now. we're still not solid on if "giants" are even a concept that still exists in the au. writing up some speculative mythology eventually might be fun but for now we have nothing solid

the biggest thing in our mind for like. concepts for the giant's lair is that it's just a weird demon dimension. because it is where the main demon (the everlasting sapling) is. but we still think it should have an actual physical location in the real world along with the mana dimension so. idk yet

in honor of forgor land day here is something we drew back in february and, very fittingly, forgot to post

hm the more we think about it we feel that it would make more sense if jay was actually kicked out of the hive as opposed to leaving of her own volition as we'd been writing her. more in line with the type of person she is and how we've been depicting this version of the bee kingdom

unfortunately implementing this meaningfully means rewriting one of the more stressful pieces of work we'd already done. and the rest of the effects that this change will have. just a bit more on our track record of thinking about this kind of thing way too late

i'm thinking about concepts where mechanics used in speedruns are actually aspects of the universe the characters inhabit and i've decided

the world that SPB leif and muse are from is, essentially, regular bug fables but speedrun strats are canon

the equivalent to pixls are characters who have... well i'm not sure of the best way to describe it but the closest i can think of right now is their "entity id" has been changed to turn them into something else from the game

the equivalent to the flipside is the dev room. the same mechanism that allows interdimensional travel is the same mechanism that allows a speedrunner to teleport to the ending sequence

muse's powers as a pixl allow her to gain a lot more metaknowledge than any bug really should be able to, and she is very stressed at being aware of all of... this
