“I’d like you to take this moment to thank your lucky stars that you’ve found me in a good mood today,” Olivia spoke out strongly, walking around the younger soldiers who stood straight, their hands behind their backs, “don’t be the person who fucks it up because you know it won’t be pretty.” The blonde let the threat hang for a couple of seconds before stopping right in front of them all, “Give me laps, ten of them, then come back here and be ready to shoot some targets until your fingers bleed,” she ordered, clapping her hands and watching as they all trailed off; she’d check up on them in a moment. She took a deep breath before sighing, pushing her hand through her hair before tugging out a cigarette, placing it between her teeth as she patted down her pockets for her matches, remembering that she’d left them in her quarters and letting out a small groan as she placed the cigarette back into her back pocket. Putting behind the little tragedy that meant that she couldn’t smoke until the training was over, she lifted her gaze and watched as the soldiers ran, ignoring everything else around her.

“Trust me, if I wanted to sneak up on you, you wouldn’t have noticed,” Liv replied easily, crossing her arms over her chest.
“If you are wanting to be sneaking up on me, you are going to have be trying to be quieter.”

It was unusual to encounter Olivia wandering around, but all the goals for the day were fulfilled and she’d grown bored of shooting targets and getting challenged by others, only to beat them every time. She smirked as she spotted Ezra, and decided to saunter over and tease him a little, her hands in the back pockets of her pants. Liv shrugged her shoulders at his words, “Not really, no... just decided that you needed company,” she admitted, hopping onto the tank and snatching the book out of his hands “Hemingway, huh?”
Inexplicably, the newest lull in camp activity found Ezra lounging across the body of one of the tanks ( the perks of turning on his charm whenever the urge struck him ), reading a tattered copy of a Hemingway novel. It wasn’t often he did anything other than lounge around camp cleaning his gun or brainstorming new assignments for the various recruits he was occasionally charged with breaking in. The crunch of footsteps near him made him pause, and he leveled dark eyes at the approaching figure with a lazy, nonchalant grin, “Help you with something?”

“Yes, my car is customized to look like Bumblebee from Transformers cause I’m a huge nerd. No you can’t ‘take it round for a spin’,” Olivia spoke to the student, holding out her hand, “now give in your work before I give you a zero,” she said, taking the work and rolling her eyes as the student winked at her, a small smirk on her face as he walked away, “They need to learn how to keep it in their pants; I thought hormones would’ve calmed down at their age,” Liv mused, out loud.

lunetist-victorios:
Apparently sitting in the quad under a tree with a book was not signal enough that Crina wanted to be left alone. She didn’t mind a little background noise–if she had wanted total quiet, she could have stayed in the library–but that didn’t mean she wanted actual social interaction.
She raised her eyebrows over the top of her book.
“If you could try to keep all of this–” she pointed to the person, “–over there, that would be lovely.”
Liv raised her eyebrow as the girl spoke, pursing her lips and crossing her arms over her chest; sure she was a laid back professor, but she still expected to be treated with respect. She respected the students and waited for the respect to be reciprocated, “Would you like to try to say that again to me?” she challenged sternly, before she rolled her eyes, holding out her work, “Your professor sent me with that and next time, don’t leave it with him for that long.”

“Okay, okay, get this - I wrote this essay after a week with 3 hours of collective sleep. It started as a commentary on the fall of the Republic, and ended as an argument about which Roman Emperor was the best looking.” Lucas laughed, skimming over the page full of barely coherent scribbles. “Shit, clearly my brain was fried when I wrote this - clearly Caracalla is the hottest, not Augustus.”
“Oh be real with yourself; sure Caracalla had that bad boy attitude going on with him, but Augustus had a butt chin and I’m a sucker for butt chins,” Liv spoke, tossing a chocolate covered almond in the air before catching it in her mouth; people always said that she was the most laid back professor in the university but that was what made the students like her and they did well in all of their work, so she wasn’t going to change her ethic. “But I don’t think discussing the attractiveness of Roman Emperors will get you a good grade,” she said, shrugging as she continued to correct the essays she had in front of her.

Information
NAME: Professor Olivia Jayne Miles AGE: Twenty-Nine SUBJECT: US & World History
Background
AT the age of fifteen, everyone thought that Olivia would be another one of those lost potentials — she was incredibly smart but the circumstances in her life, namely losing both her parents and her little sister, caused her to be reckless and often got in trouble. It was when her aunt, who was her legal guardian, threatened her with boarding school, that she knuckled down and worked hard.
She got into Bellum University and completed a History Degree, since that was the subject that interested her most, then she moved on to her masters & finally a PhD. Olivia had proved everyone wrong and it felt so incredibly empowering.
School seemed to be the only thing she was dedicated to, since every relationship she had fell through, either because Liv wasn’t paying enough attention to the relationship or because the guy she’d chosen was a dick to her. Despite what everyone around her was telling her, she didn’t need someone to complete her life; she completed herself and that was all that matters.
It’s only her second year teaching, but she absolutely adores it. Not only does she teach her favourite subject and is able to give it as much passion as she could muster, but also because she could help the students. They trusted her because she always showed them that they could talk to her and she would try to help them in the best way possible. She’s known to be a bit strict but since the students respect her enough to follow her orders, she’s able to tone it down a little and she jokes around with them and even sometimes brings in treats for the students, a gift for their hard work and efforts.
Likes
Teaching, her pets (a cat and dog), any type of caffeine, nice quiet days, her chevy camaro, dancing & martial arts.
Dislikes
Being disrespected, early mornings, people telling her that she needed to find a man, students who decide that it’s fine to hit on her.

lunetist-victorios:
Crina smiled down at the mangy tom cat currently winding his way between her legs. It had taken a while, but she had fed him enough scraps and talked to him in enough soft Romanian that the thing finally trusted her enough to come near. It was something Crina enjoyed, getting the trust of animals. They were not like humans. She knew where she stood with them. And once a friend was made, it was usually kept.
She stilled, still in her crouch, when she felt the cat do the same. The hair raised on the back of her neck, and she saw the fur on the cat’s back go up as well. With a twitch of his one full ear and a hiss, he ran away.
Crina, the soft smile fading from her face, wiped her hands on her pants and got to her feet. She turned to look at the person who had just come up behind her.
“What is it you are looking at?”
Bullseye’d been watching her interact with the cat for a couple of minutes now; she’d always liked animals, but never had the patience to build relationships with them unless truly necessary. It was funny, how she had the patience to sit in her nest and scope out soldiers for hours, but building relationships with people and animals was too difficult for her, because she would start to care.
A frown made its way onto her lips when she watched the animal hurry off; she hadn’t meant to scare it away. “Sorry, I just admire people who have patience,” she admitted with a small shrug of her shoulder, “reminds me of simpler times.”

spectergates:
Ezra exhaled slowly through his nose— blowing cigarette smoke in the immediate vicinity of the tank he’d been lounging on for the last fifteen minutes. Hardly anyone dared chide him for the decision but he wasn’t particularly keen on allowing that to change and a steady restlessness had been building in him for the last several days. He was prone to taking long walks when the urge struck him, or finding a quiet place to sit and shoot or sit and square his rifle away or do almost anything that was even remotely pleasant for more than two minutes at a time. Another slow drag and he tossed the cigarette on the ground, stamping it out with the toe of his boots before he slipped away into the forest behind camp. Ten minutes into his walk and gentle footsteps behind him found a vague smirk on his lips and he turned to glance over his shoulder in passing, “Y’know, if you wanted to keep me company— you could’a just said so.”
Olivia never liked walking before; she always thought that it was a complete waste of time and it would’ve been better if she was using up her time shooting targets and teaching the younger soldiers, but lately, bad thoughts were plaguing her mind too harshly and she cherished the time she got alone and she actually sought it out. A small sigh slipped through her lips as she wandered around the trees in the forest, her eyes trained on the grey sky above as she counted her breaths and calmed her thoughts. She knew someone was in front of her, she could hear the footsteps, but she tried to pay no mind to the person, until she heard the familiar voice. A smirk came to Bullseye’s lips as she looked down, raising her eyebrow slightly, “Would you have accepted my company, Gates?”

sparrowlucas:
“Maybe I’ll try something new out next time, nick them with the landing gear and scare the living shit out of them.” Lucas laughed. “I doubt I’d have to wait around for them to make way again after that.” A grin and a smug look was directed in the way of the soldiers who hurried off under the instruction of the First Sergeant. A lazy mock salute was sent their way, along with a disparaging look that very much showed his lack of tolerance for people wasting his time. If he was being fair, they had provided him with the chance to show off a bit, but he would have appreciated slightly more haste on their part anyway. “Ugh, men” Lucas teased, rolling his eyes before breaking out into a smile. “Sounds like they were the ones who lucked out, you getting a change of scenery probably saved them getting their ass kicked.”
“You’ll have to tell me when you plan on doing that because I’ll be in this very spot, laughing my ass off and applauding,” Liv chuckled, shaking her head, “at least they know their place and didn’t try to be funny with me, would’ve given me a reason to get a bit reckless with them.” Since joining the war, the blonde’s tolerance levels became low, too low in fact - she’d always been hot-headed but never lost her temper as quick as she did now. She sneered at his teasing before letting out a breathy laugh, bringing the cigarette back to her lips, “Probably... ” she murmured, before taking a long drag and letting the smoke go with a sigh.

Liv laughed and nodded her head, “If it were me, I would’ve happily obliged - wouldn’t have killed them, just give them a scare, we need the soldiers.” She admitted with a shrug, glancing back at the three soldiers and rolling her eyes, “Hey dumb-asses, do you wanna get off the runway and have your little coffee morning elsewhere?” Because of her rank and the obvious fact that she could take them all down with her eyes closed, they quickly hurried off. She smirked, “Wanted to get a change of scenery and the men I was teachin’ to shoot were wasting my time by keeping their eyes on my ass instead of focusing, so I left before I got into trouble because of them.”
A smile broke out across Lucas’ features at Bullseye’s familiar voice as he exited the plane. He had witnessed her right to her callsign months ago on the shooting range, and now, it seemed, she had witnessed his. “They’re lucky I’m patient and don’t mind the few extra minutes in the air to show off a bit while they’re relegated off the runway, or else it might be the last thing they get to cross off said bucket lists.” Lucas laughed, watching the trio of soldiers in question who were still loitering near the edge of the designated landing area. Perhaps they were idiots, Lucas thought, or maybe they just wanted to tempt fate like the rest of them. “So, if you’re not here for the adrenaline kick what brings you to my neck of the woods?” He asked warmly, accompanied by a laugh he felt almost too tired to give. “Have they run out of bullets for you to land on target, or what?”

Bullseye gave a nod at his greeting, a small, acknowledging smile coming to her face. She brought the cigarette back to her lips and took a quick breath before replying, “Found two spots, but one’s at a higher ground so I’ll probably go with that one,” she explained, glancing around and chuckling, “Yeah, us snipers got lucky with this camp.” Liv nodded, leaning back and resting against the crates behind her lightly. “How about you?”
Esca allowed his guard to settle as the intruder’s identity was revealed. It was far easier to settle among other snipers as they were practically brethren. “Bullseye,” Shade greeted, “found a nest to set up in yet?” He’d scoured vantage points across far off ruins and had come up with plenty. There current camp was sniper-friendly. Excellent for them, disastrous for enemies. “Plenty of areas to choose from out there.”

Liv hadn’t written in her diary for months but she had nothing better to do, so, she sat out on a crate and wrote about anything and everything. The sound of a plane overhead caused her curious eyes to gaze up, smirking as she saw the machine circling, something she knew Lucas liked doing. She closed the diary and stowed it in one of the pockets in her cargo pants, leaning back against the crates positioned behind her and crossing her arms over her chest, watching as he landed the plane with ease and emerged from it, kissing the machine. She chuckled and shook her head, “Maybe the rush of being on the battlefield isn’t enough for them - they have ‘get run over by a plane’ on their bucket list.” She joked, a smirk remaining on her face after her dark-humored joke.
Returning to base with little more then a few harmless bullet-holes in places that wouldn’t do any real harm on his plane was a relief no matter how many times Lucas managed it. Flying low over camp, he made a few turns in the sky to approach the runway though he showed off more than a bit as he circled, waiting for the signal that he was all set to land once the landing strip had been cleared.
Wheels hit the ground, the engines quietened their roar and Lucas pulled himself from the cockpit, kissing his hand and planting it on the outer-body of the aircraft as he departed out of superstition. “You’d think people’d be more hasty to get their asses off the runway when they heard planes coming.” He laughed, pulling his helmet off and running a hand through his hair as he used his unwavering positivity to fight the fatigue that was setting in.
