Sometimes I like to imagine that after the events of Sweeney Todd, Johanna and Anthony check on Toby in the insane Asylum. They both travel the world, sure, but they always come back to check on “that boy they found covered in blood in the basement of the pie shop”.

Johanna can’t help it. She knows how lonely and scary the asylum can be. And she’s constantly wondering what led him to murder that man, Sweeney Todd.

SUCH a gem!!!

I can't believe this recording exists. Someone brought in a big, bulky camera and recorded the entirety of a performance of Sweeney Todd with the original cast in 1979, and you know what? The quality is better than what you'd expect! I have no idea how this person got away with this, but given that we have no official video from the original production, I'm glad they did. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone seeing the musical for the first time, but definitely to fans. This must have been an early performance, too, because this was back when Sondheim had some made-up cockney for the Beggar Woman. I love hearing the audience laugh along to parts of the show, too. This is a real gem.

Yea I still miss them.

Tbh I’m not crazy about a tenor in a baritone role and it genuinely upsets me to see such a beautiful deep role changed. Hopefully after Aaron Tviet they’ll give the role back to a baritone lol
