Bunny Box Review #1 - Treats by Zuzu

The buns received their first bunny box in the mail today! Super excited to share our box with you all. 11/18/2017.

But first, a little about Treats by Zuzu

Samantha, the owner, offers two options of boxes. Currently they are having a Christmas special, we ordered the Thanksgiving one! You could try the “Treats by Zuzu” box which includes strawberry, banana, carrot or a mix of all three flavored treats (30, 65 or 100 pieces), as well as a few Christmas gifts for the hoomins! Prices range from $5.99-$12.99 for this option. The second box Samantha offers is called “The Bunny Box” for $23.99. This box has the same organic treats listed above, as well as, a scented candle, bunny chew sticks and toy, bunny stickers and pendant and LED Christmas lights! Here are a couple pictures of each box:

Treats by Zuzu has excellent ratings online and has grown about 400 Instagram followers just this week!

Now - time for the review. 

We purchased the “Treats by Zuzu” box with 30 organic mixed treats!

Packaging - Super cute! Everything was wrapped nicely so nothing would damage during shipping. The thank you note with ice cream cones was adorable, can’t wait to add that to our love note wall! If you’d like to send us a letter, please message us on Instagram !

Website - Love etsy! So user friendly and easy to use. If you are looking for organic treats, Zuzu has you covered. Right now, they are offering a free custom made ornament with your bunnies name on it, perfect for Christmas.

Price - We paid $4.99 for 30 treats and $3.00 for shipping. This is very comparable to the price of treats sold locally here.

Speed - We placed our order late Saturday night and got our package the following Friday! So happy we got it just in time for Thanksgiving. Super speedy!

Treats - The treats themselves look bunny delicious! The small pieces make them a quick and easy snack for the buns. Being organic, I can trust that my bunnies are eating a nice, healthy snack. Princess Midnight snatched her treat right out of my hand! These would be good treats to use if you are training your bunny to do something.

Extras - Each box by Zuzu has a few items for the owner. We got an adorable Thanksgiving mug and candy corn! The thank you note will be displayed on our love wall!

Recommendation - You should totally follow their Instagram page, as well as, place an order! I would recommend saving up and buying the bigger bunny box. I love that each box has a theme and I can’t wait to see what she has to offer in the future! 

Comment - Ordering was super easy and straight forward. I can’t wait to order again! You won’t be disappointed with these healthy, organic treats. My bunnies love them!

Bunny Boxes

I have been dying to order a box of goodies for my bunnies online, but I wasn’t sure which option to pick. There are so many options available right now. I feel like the bunny community on Instagram has really taken off over the past couple of months, which makes me so happy! I see my followers and people I follow post pictures of their boxes all the time! I’ve never ordered one before so I asked my Instagram followers for suggestions and this is what I got:

Instagram Account - @bunniesthatlunch 

This account has over 31.3k followers at the time this post was made! I have personally followed this account for awhile and they do random giveaways and have super cute monthly subscription boxes for bunnies and guinea pigs. As I’m looking at their website, their monthly boxes always have a theme (like the Christmas box out now). You can also purchase individual treats and they have recently started a cat line. Subscription boxes start at £18. They do ship to the US! Check out all of their options on their website here

Instagram Account - @thehappybunnyclub

This account has over 18.6k followers on Instagram! This bunny company does monthly subscription boxes as low as £17 ($21) when you buy 12 boxes or £22 ($27) for 1 month. They offer super cute boxes, but they do not have many pictures on their website (check their insta page). If you would like to try their Christmas box, you must order before November 15th! They ship worldwide. You can check out their boxes here 

Instagram Account - @treatsbyzuzu

This account has just over 2,400 followers! Treats by Zuzu is a company that creates organic bunny treats. I have followed this account for awhile now, too and have been dying to try the personalized treats featuring banana, carrot, or strawberry flavors. The boxes even include something for the hoomin! These are monthly boxes, as well, but you can also make small item purchases through the shop. Monthly boxes range from $8.99 - $23.99. I really can’t wait to try this one for sure! Instagram Account - @thegreenbunnystore 

This account has just over 1,000 followers on their Instagram page! I was excited to hear about this business because they let you pick what you want. Although they do have a bunny box option, my followers recommended I check out what else they have to offer. They have an adorable love seat for $19.99 I have my eye on. Instagram Account - @bunnieslovemail 

This account has just over 300 followers. They ship worldwide and offer monthly subscription boxes starting at £15. Their boxes are themed with a surprise for the hoomins! I had not heard about this business until my followers had mentioned something, so thank you! I can’t wait to try this one. You can check out their website here

We live in the United States, so currently this is only for UK inhabitants BUT if I lived in the UK I would totally love this website. They offer cheap treats and other products for almost any animal you can think of. I wonder if there are any stores like this for the USA? You can check out their website here 

We, bunniesfoofoo, would like to support small businesses for bunnies and other small pets! I really appreciate the individuals who provide safe, healthy and organic treats for my rabbits. Being a bummy, I have realized that pet or grocery stores don’t always offer the best quality snacks so I started turning to Instagram for help. I can’t thank my followers enough for the wonderful advice and I can’t wait to get started.

Plan and Reviews

I am going to ask my followers which business I should try first and create an ordered list based on responses. I will purchase a box or other product from the given store, wait patiently for our present to come in the mail, let the buns see how they fancy each box, and finally review it for you.

I want to compare the different options available right now - if I missed another great account, please let me know! Typically I look for bunny treats/snacks or other play toys. I’m really interested in all of these boxes! I will be unbiased and honest with my reviews. The buns are excited to get started, they can almost taste the nom noms already. . . .

Homemade BunniesFooFoo Cookies

Prince here and today my mommy made us the BEST cookies I’ve ever had!! The girls aren’t as big of fans as me, but I go to town on some bunniesfoofoo cookies!

Super simple to make! You probably have most of the ingredients in that room where hoomins fix themselves treats. Takes about 5-10 min to mix together, 20-30 minutes in the oven, then another 30 min - an hour cooling. Total cook time 1 hour.

Ingredients Needed:

3/4 cup of rabbit pellets (whatever your bun is used too!)

3 carrots

1 banana

Handful of hay (we LOVE Timothy Hay, but there are several other quality brands out there)

Parchment Paper

That’s it! For the best bunniesfoofoo cookies only 5 ingredients!

Recipe 

Pre-heat your oven to 325 degrees

Blend pellets and dump into mixing bowl

Blend banana and carrot (separate from pellets) then dump into the pellet mix

It should look something like this 

4. Mix together

Keep mixing until it looks something like this 

5. Blend handful of hay (a few drops of water help!)

6. Kneed the blended hay into your mixture (easiest way is with clean hands!) for 2-3 minutes. This should be verrrrrrry sticky!

7. Make little balls (similar to hoomin cookies) and place them on a cookie sheet cover with parchment paper

8. Throw them in the oven for 25-30 minutes (check to make sure they aren’t getting dark brown)

We used 1 full cup of pellets, so mommy had a bunch left over

That’s why I recommend using 3/4 a cup of pellets! But hay, I won’t pass up more treats!

We also recommend letting your bunniesfoofoo cookies dry in the oven for 30 minutes to an hour. If you don’t cook them long enough or give them enough time to dry, they will fall apart.

Hi there! Allow us to introduce ourselves...

First of all, I’m Majesty the beautiful white hotot dwarf rabbit. I was adopted first back in March 2017. My old family could not take care of me anymore, so two new hoomins came and swooped me up. It took awhile for me to get used to them, I really do like to keep to myself sometimes. But I’ve built some trust and now, I snuggle them the most! I am very laid back and I will nudge you into head petting me for hours! The little hoomins (our nieces) call me the kitty of the bunch. I require attention when demanded, but otherwise leave me be! Majesty, the Queen Bee.

Hi, I’m Princess Midnight the black holland lop bunny. I was born in a tiny town a few miles away from where I live today. My hoomins picked me up July 2017 when I was just a wee lil bun bun. I am H Y P E R and constantly getting into trouble. My hoomins chase me all over the yard! The little hoomins call me the doggy because of my ears and I love to play. I will follow anyone around for a carrot.

Finally, I know you were wondering about me! I’m Prince, the oreo lionhead bunny mix. I only have one and a half ears, but my hoomins still think I’m pretty sweet! I was rescued from a Wal-Mart parking lot only last week (August 2017) and given the BEST home. My hoomins take me everywhere with them and I have so many friends. I don’t like that I have to be separated from Majesty and Princess Midnight, but I like them a little too much when they are around. I’m spunky and love to binky all over the floor. I’m a cuddle bug too and I always have a new hair do!

Majesty: Our hoomins created an Instagram account for us @bunniesfoofoo check us out for new pictures daily. We wanted to start up with a few followers but we have big plans for our page. Our hoomins have never owned bunnies before and have learned a lot over the past few months. Something mommy was having a hard time with was finding one place to locate various rabbit information. SO we plan on using this page to share the information we know and stories have along the way. We plan on sharing weekly bunny tips or facts or even DIY/how to information. We hope our hoppy adventures can help other bunny owners with their adventures too.

Princess Midnight: Our hoomins love us soooooo much they wanted to share their love with you. There is a lot of misinformation out on bunnies and it’s time to update some things. Disclaimer; we are not experts or vets so we recommend doing your own research as well. Some things we describe here may not work for your bunnies at home or may require more steps or additional time.
