Feyre: Nesta, you need a hobby.
Nesta: I do have a hobby!
Feyre: Being sad isn't a hobby.
Azriel from a distance: Isn't it?

This was cute. It was a good pallet cleanser after Ms. Maas quite literally tore my heart out, threw it on the floor, and stomped on it with ACOWAR. It was a cute, happy little story and I’m sure I’m about to get my recovering heart ripped out of my chest again with ACOSF🙃

⚠️spoilers⚠️
Leave it to SJM to write a literal rollercoaster of emotions in the last 100 pages of her books. I sobbed and yelled at this book in the same chapter. I know ACOMAF is the most popular but so far, this one was my favorite. I was stressed tf out. Feyre in ACOTAR and most of ACOMAF was kind of annoying but we love ACOWAR Feyre. She took that High Lady title and ate it up. Nesta was on my nerves the whole damn book until she saves Cassian. Elain is still on my nerves. Daddy Archeron didn’t deserve that death and we love him. His character development is 10/10. If Elain doesn’t take Shadowdaddy and One-Eyed Fox BOTH to bed, I’m gonna be pissed because why are you worried about a human when they’re standing right in front of you?? I low-key ship Mor and Amren but I’m high-key mad at Amren for making me think she was just going to betray everyone like that. Tampon still sucks. I don’t care that he helped in the war, i don’t care that he helped bring Rhys back and I don’t care that he sacrificed himself so Feyre, Azriel and Elain could escape. Ianthe got exactly what she deserved. And I have a sweet little soft spot for Jurian. Overall, Miss Maas will be getting my therapy bill, thank you.

I just want everyone to see that I’m going on a solid week of only reading one book instead of 15 and I think that’s pretty damn good.

Recommend: Maybe, this one’s pretty heavy
Review:
I listened to this book specifically because it was free and because I loved Archers Voice so much. I hadn’t even heard about it let alone knew what it was about. This one was HEAVY. It gave me chills, it made me cry, it made me so, so angry. I’m pretty good at predicting twists but this book had me guessing wrong left and right. The only reason it’s not 5 stars is because I’m still a little confused about why the captives are picked. I know each pair is connected, I know they pick people they think no one will miss but I’m not sure why not just two random people? Why the connection? Specifically Grim and Cedro. Plan on rereading it to see if I can understand it better since things get lost in audiobooks for me. But overall, I thought this was a great story.

So my bucket list has basically doubled thanks to this book🙃 I’m no stranger to spice, but when I say I had to take a break after chapter 23, I mean my husbands video games didn’t stand a chance the rest of the night. I didn’t love Rae but I also didn’t dislike her either. But Leon can get it any time, anywhere. I loved that the banter between them felt really natural and I really liked Harley Laroux’s style of writing. I loved the gothic vibes without it having to be set in the sixteenth century. I’m definitely in my dark romance era and I ate up every second of this book.

July really has been such a great reading month so far! Also, this book means I completed my Goodreads goal for the year.
So I complained about having no connection to the characters in The Never King, but this one??? I think I fell in love with all four of these men. The spice? Top tier🥵 i was much more interested in the plot for this one and enjoyed the action. The first book had so little action I didn’t expect much from this one but I loved it so much. With the cliffhanger at the end, I’m so excited to move onto the third book

⚠️spoilers⚠️
I swear this series has me in a chokehold. The last chapter😭😭 Logan better not lock this woman up. I’m team Lana on this, she hasn’t killed one person that didn’t deserve it. And Logan has the audacity to not even let her explain herself? Excuse me, Mr. Don’t-tell-anyone-yet-I-want-a-confession, how do you expect a confession when you won’t let her speak?? I’m gonna need Leonard and Hadley to get Logan’s shit together for him because right now, he’s not doing a good job of it.

I’m noticing that Freida McFadden books are pretty predictable, however, her stories still manage to be entertaining and enjoyable. Her writing is very easy to read and keeps you hooked. This book is the first where I really came around to like a character. Other books I’ve read by her, I’ve hated the main character but I really liked Millie and by the end I loved Nina. I was onto Andrew from the very beginning. No privileged, rich business man is that nice. Nina’s story was a little heavy but I love that she got justice and was able to live freely with Cece. And my all time favorite character was Enzo. The way he looked out for Nina, Cece, and Millie while being clever enough to stay under the radar. Even though I predicted the twists, I think this is my favorite Freida book so far.

I listened to this one in one sitting. I enjoyed it. No five stars but significantly enjoyable. I had trouble not picturing the Disney Peter Pan but luckily, that didn’t kill the story for me. The spice was a solid 4 stars. I didn’t connect too much with any of the characters but I liked the plot. Maybe I’ll connect a little more in the second book

⚠️Spoilers⚠️
This month is proving to be such a great reading month with all these 5 star books❤️ I jumped into this book knowing absolutely nothing about it and I’m so glad I did. This emotional roller coaster sucked me in from the second I started it. I fell in love with Archer as quickly as Bree did and both of their back stories had me sobbing. I was listening to the audio book while doing dishes when Archer got shot for the second time and literally had to sit down and take a cry break for about two chapters. This book was beautiful beyond words. It may be one of my favorite books of all time.
