Do any of you use book apps? For example: Goodreads, Story Graph, Bookmory, or Hoopla?
I’m sick of Goodreads, so I was looking through the App Store and it was surprising how many new apps there are for books.

I have to say that I really like the Bookmory app more than Goodreads simply because it motivates me to read more often. It is a bit annoying that it keeps asking me to turn on notifications, though. Which I don't want to do because then the app becomes a bit pushy cause the first thing I wake up to is a notification reminding me to read. And like.....I already read on a daily basis, so that just seems obnoxious somehow.
I don't know. That's probably just a me thing. I have this thing where I absolutely hate to do something if I feel like it's being demanded of me. Especially if it's by someone I don't respect or who doesn't respect me, and how the hell can I expect an app to respect me? Holy hell, I'm a weirdo (~_~メ)
It also has this really cool book calendar thing where you can go back and see all the days you read during the month. So in that way Bookmory is a reading tracker and a habit tracker. Oh, and it lets you take notes on the books, so you can annotate without messing up the book. At this point I'm basically only using Goodreads because my entire TBR is on there.

Media Roundup: August 2023
This is the first entry in something I’ve casually done for ages – share what I’ve read, watched, or listened to in the past month! I ended up writing so much this time that a FB post would not suffice, so I’m going to start a series over here and share them out to other channels. Books I’ve been working through some short story collections and a nonfiction book about ADHD that are still…

I just want everyone to see that I’m going on a solid week of only reading one book instead of 15 and I think that’s pretty damn good.

March was not a super productive reading month. But I’m glad I was able to read as much as I did.
I try not to compare myself to others especially when it comes to reading. I’m a slow reader and always have been. I also work full time and am in college. Not to mention I’m also in the middle of planning my wedding. Life gets busy sometimes and that makes it hard to read. I also struggle with depression and that can make it so I don’t want to or can’t do my hobbies.
I’m happy with my results for March. I had more active reading days in March than February. That’s a win for me.
My only new years resolution for 2024 was to read more than I did in 2023. I’ve already achieved that. My goal is to read 12 books this year. With 4 books already down, I’m on track to meet and even possibly beat my goal.

Am trying out a new book tracker app called Bookmory. I kinda like it because it has a feature that congratulates you for all the books you read and keeps track of how long you read for every day. At the end of the month it shows you how many books you read during the month. That way you can feel like you accomplished something every month without the pressure of the Goodreads challenge and feeling bad if you complete it.
I know that you can always adjust the Goodreads challenge and set a new goal, but I hate how it gets turned into a competition sometimes. Like people will brag about reading hundreds of books per year. I don't know. It's stupid.
Like I've never been able to complete my Goodreads challenge because I don't read really fast and sometimes I'll fall into a depression and just stop reading. And at the end of the year, I always end up feeling inferior because I only read like twenty-seven books and there are other people who have read three or four-hundred books.
I'm just tired of feeling like everything is a competition.
