Fingers rolled through Raymond’s hair, thumb circling a knead along the rim of his ear. The older warrior sigh pleasantly with a scratch on his trimmed jaw, without the beard he looked years younger if it wasn’t for the lengthened dreads since the Last Mortal Kombat tournament.
The warmth of his lap welcoming a flush cheek and strong legs cushioned enough to be comfortable.
❛❛ Lay your head in my lap and try to get some rest. ❜❜ -Buzzingbomber (Master Cyrax)
The offer caused a slight tint of red to appear on Raymond’s face, and he silently cursed not having his mask on at the moment.
But…he did need the rest, and if Master Cyrax wanted to offer this comfort, he would accept. With a small, tired sigh, Raymond laid his head on the offered lap.

“I understand the attachment.” Master Cyrax noted with a gentle hand. “If you desire its return, I will be happy to return it after restoration. However, remember - it isn’t the weapon that makes the warrior. Otherwise, it can leave you vulnerable when you need it most.”

“Ah! Master Cyrax! If there is anything you need from me, I am happy to help.” The young Lin Kuei said in response to being ‘stolen’.

“I do,’ the older warrior answered with a mischievous smile on his bearded face. “I have some equipment for you after your last assistance. Your kama are better aligned and chains oiled for the artik, I noticed they’ve been rusting and breaking easier as of late. Correct?”

“You will preserve, Raymond.” Cyrax assured, using his actual name to a deeper affiliation to the teaching. His strong arms folding under his chest as he gave a brisk nod. “We all start small and grow into something magnificent. It is only you who can determine that growth. You are determined to be more, so -’ He gestured a hand, ‘You can strive for more. One step at a time. Two steps and you might trip.”
@lin-kuei-mantis
Master Cyrax stood with Squall, discussing the stability of his cyro-grenades while they concocted the bubbling batch of hyperactive liquid nitride within their distinctive containers. “With this new revision, you might have a personal touch to your equipment.” The older warrior insisted before catching Mantis in his side-vision, grasping Squall on his bicep. “We’ll continue this another time, make sure you have a variable for our next test. I need to speak with our kin.”
Squall met his fist to his chest, “Yes, Master Cyrax. I will keep watch of the lab.” A smile of encouragement flashed on the older man’s face before he went to catch Raymond in his walk through the temple.
“Mantis!” He called behind the long strides. “A word…”

Cyrax didn't know why but some reason the latter question caught him off guard. He was normally the one to ask that and when Raymond asked, there was a momentary skip of mind. Almost robotic in a way, a leftover from his stoicism of the Old Lin-Kuei. "I am well, Mantis." The Master answered with his quirked smile, "Thank you for asking. Have you been well?"

Cyrax returned the gesture without missing a beat, “Young Mantis.” He greets with a gleam in his good eye. “While you are present, have your equipment been well? I know the new kusarigama has been a little difficult with its lightened alloy when we last spoke.”
While being the other foremost master of the Lin Kuei with Sub-Zero, he took the burden of the technical aspects in a form of redemption to Sektor’s madness. The grandmaster’s son was a good man once, it was only their master’s corruption that tore him from the path. In tearing the cyber-initiative's evils, the advancements unwittingly made aided the new Lin Kuei as mere weapons to an already formidable warrior.
Sadly, not of all can throw bone-chilling ice. So, Cyrax gave that mild alternative.

Armored forearms squeezed around the young warrior’s waist, the master’s smile ever genuine under his trimmed beard. A habit after being locked in his study too long. “And thank you, Raymond.’ Cyrax said whilst using Mantis’ real name, allowing himself to loosen on the younger man’s desire. ‘For trying every day for us.”
Master Cyrax lifts Raymond on his toes for a tight encouraging hug. "You'll get there."
Raymond accepts the hug, arms wrapped around Cyrax’s shoulders. “Thank you, Master Cyrax. Your words mean a lot to me.” He says with genuine gratitude.

Cyrax held a hollowed pain. This projection of himself was as lost as the Automated, so - much as it pains him - the kombat began. Like before, it was almost his humanity left him. From fluid motions, he became rigid and intent by a heartbeat. Propulsion jets spouted fire from his soles, lunging his seemingly cumbersome body for his demanded opponent. Metal fist propelling straight for the face but it was a mere feint. What truly came was the sudden spin of his waist, legs becoming a HELICOPTER OF KICKS!

LK-4D4 seemed to jutter before his head aimed it’s green optics upon the Titan. The moment his chronometer started to glitch from her mere proximity, he shut it off before vocalizing,
“My primary service is to the Lin Kuei. All others are secondary, even yours - Madam Kronika. What sufficient upgrades are there for Earthrealm’s most efficient assassination/explosive-designated unit?”

The armoured warrior, of lighter black gi and wasp-yellow tactical plating, nodded under his helmet. Those three green pinpoint optics along his slant visors glowing in activity, reading the scrolling information as much as looking at her. Master Cyrax, despite his technological duties and developments to the Lin Kuei, aided the Special Forces as the clan liason.

“Really?” she asks, then returns to her camera. “I guess they’re armed? Probably mad and looking to hunt down any nitwit diplomats, eh?”

To kill himself for her amusement.
“Do you hear her?” He asks his other, “Do you agree to this monster?” His head tilted. Cyrax’s mechanisms popped and changed under his wasp-yellow chassis, assuming combat mode. There was the default of assassination, then there is open combat. It is no longer ran by computer, it was natural as thought. There was no...coldness. There was a pulsing warmth. Something was changing inside him, so alien yet familiar.
He was alive yet not. The distant computer of LK-4D4 was melding into him, becoming and recognizing like that of the assassin’s mind. Optics blinked. He didn’t think of possibilities. The many sessions and virtual simulations running in the blink of an eye, the result of gods-know-how many timelines’ revisal made by this Witch.

The moment Kronika dared to bring his own past onto him. To see himself, untouched by Sektor’s alterations and perversion into slaves of metal and coding. Cyrax and LK-4D4 looked upon themselves, a step back a moment. Then onto Kronika. This was no god. Not one worthy of them to punish for seeing her righteousness to something not of so-called Eden. She would send another of their own onto one another, this...wasn’t right.
“You shame your creations, Kronika.” They said in disgust. They saw now. She was the ultimate creator. The one to use living beings for simulations for her ultimate work. This was the true face of a god who stood beyond them. She needed not warriors, but pawns. Not again.
In this, Cyrax’s soul flared and melded with LK-4D4 in a subtle agreement. Fists flowed of energy before looking onto their other. “Forgive me for a lie is not worth living.”
That was the last time they will allow anyone to command them again.
Cyrax met with himself in Mortal Kombat.

“I did not…” The struggling duel of Mind and Matter waged inside the convulsing body. “c-choose this!” Then with a sudden recoil that shot his body into a stance of utter defiance exploding of pent energy. “Choose this! I was FORCED into this.”
“What place is there for a machine but a tool?” Cyrax questioned, “You mistake me for Sekor once more. I saught not perfection, Lady Kronika but the devotion to my family. A family butchered into things of metal. If you truly knew me in your countless meetings with me before, you would truly know who I AM. OBEDIENCE is earned!”
“If Eden denies what make one themselves, then it is not an Eden at all!” He returned with an unfaltering strength that defied his original meekness to her. “PAIN is what grants us the memory. MISERY is what we drive to overcome and FAILURE is what teaches us to become more than what we were. Without any of them, the FUTURE is nothing but a bleak existence. However, I do not defy you for this dream, it is the suffering and pain to those innocent for its very conception. How many times will you allow those under your care to suffer or have you denied yourself the very nature of your possible Heart to not see the strife for this goal?”
‘If it is to be a New Era, Lady Kronika.” He said, almost pitying her in a way. “Then let it be the Era of a true Future for the heroes who lived and died for the realms, right the wrongs done...”

Cyrax smiled softly, understanding the passion behind her words. Just from that, he learned more about her in an intimate way without knowing the details. The broad strokes to a person’s canvas of life. Escaping a life of robotic servitude further enlightened the Lin Kuei Master into the beauty of humanity and lives that shouldn’t be leisure for an assassin. To her end, when Frost asked for his reason. The Master gave it, how it should be; the Student gives the effort and willingness to give, the Master returns it with a little hold. Every step is a lesson.
“Devotion.” He answered. “I was brought into the Lin Kuei like many of my generation. From a young boy to be properly sculpted by the Masters into the next of their lineage. This very tradition is why Kuai Liang is so fierce with all of you. You have years to catch up, lessons that young students learn before their first decade. However, in a way - it is your advantage. You should have the morals and devotion that even wide-eyed, scared boys would find envious. You chose to be here, for whatever reason; survival, a destiny, a hope, it is your weapon against the hardship that the new Lin Kuei stand to you.”
The Burning Kold
“Survival.” She spits out immediately. “Is the only thing I ever met through my entire life, to survive the next day, until you forget about how long you’ve been trying to breathe and rest, the paranoia of dying is stronger than any other force in this world..”
It has always been about this. When your home is completely broken in pieces and life demands for you to explore the world in hope for you to find the safest way to go through another day, it becomes the only thought in your mind. Yet she prefers to no reveal too much, just like him and his past which is exempted from the knowledge from other students, not even the Grandmaster knows about it.
“I guess is different for each one of us, we have a reason to live for, but we don’t meet this concept with our first breath.” Nobody is born with a clear destiny, or that is what she believes in. What kind of fate could Frost meet at the end of her path if things were completely different? Would she still be a Lin Kuei or vanished that possibility to choose another route?
 “What are your reasons?”
