I think the reason why I would never, ever agree with the "Gi-hun is deadbeat dad" comments is because, even though he has failed to provide for his daughter or give her a "good life", we all saw that he tried. He TRIED to be a good dad for her. He WANTED to be a good dad for her. A deadbeat dad is someone who WILLINGLY neglects their child, and from what we've seen in their relationship that doesn't sound like him at all.
"oh but he wasn't even there when she was born" Yeah, because he was at a worker's strike that caused him to go through one of his first traumatic experience, because he wanted to keep his job so he can provide for his family. It's not like he wanted to miss his daughter's birth. It's not like he was hanging out at the mall eating froyo during that time.
"hE diDn'T gEt oN tHe pLaNe tO sEe hEr" every Gihun stan has explained why this take is dumb. Seriously, it's such a dumb take.
Gayeong is the reason why he entered the games in the first place. He wanted to get money so he can have custody of her. That's not something a deadbeat dad does.
He refused to take money that he desperately needed because the cause is never talking to his daughter again and instead of chose to go back to the place where he knew he could die. That's not something a dead beat dad does.
It's not his fault that the cards he was dealt with was bad. He loves and cares for his daughter so much and I bet it was eating him inside when he couldn't provide for her in the same way that a father can provide for his child.
So it doesn't just piss me off when I see comments calling him a "deadbeat dad" it breaks my heart.
Specially when I *know* what a deadbeat dad looks like.
Those types of fathers don't give a fuck about their kids.
But Gihun is willing to do anything for his daughter.

Suicidal, broken Gihun on Friday. I cannot wait.
Seriously, Gihun, I give you my full permission to verbally dominate in no particular order:
Im Jeong-dae (player 100): remove his support with one sentence, Gihun please.
Seonyeo.
The VIPS
Junho (for lying)
Inho (for everything else)
Also be your feral, intelligent self, Gihun!

Scene redraw from S2E2, where Jun-ho and Gi-hun are former lovers reunited.
Jun-ho takes a second to recognize the man Gi-hun has become. The moment that he does, every dream encounter during his coma comes roaring back to life, slips under his skin, and takes him for a walk.

Friendly reminder that the last time Gihun and Gayeong saw each face to face was when she witness Gihun punched her stepfather.
Gayeong would be 14 years old now.
And Gihun needs to be reunited with her.
Gayeong is waiting for him. I know, I can feel it.

Hello 🙋
My name is Ahmed, I’m 20 years old, and I’m from Gaza City. I used to dream of a peaceful life, completing my education, and getting a job, but the war has turned that dream into something impossible 💔😭. We lived through this massacre in every painful detail, and we are still in pain 😔. We were so happy when the ceasefire was announced, and we returned to our homes in the north of Gaza after being displaced for a year and a half in a tent in the south of the Strip. After we fixed a small room in our destroyed house to live in and start over, unfortunately, the war returned, stronger than before 💔. Now, we have no shelter and no source of income. We have exhausted all our savings during the war. I know that I started my campaign very late, but that’s because there is no other way to help my family 🙏. I am fully confident and hopeful that someone here will help us as much as they can and save my family in these difficult circumstances 😔.

I know that the feeling of starting from scratch is painful and frustrating, but I hope to receive any amount for my family 🥺🙏.
https://chuffed.org/project/helpahmedfamily
Even a small donation would have a great impact on us 🥺. May God bless you, my friend 🥰❤️.

So...um, Im gonna rant a little bit on why I personally think this 'frontman spin-off' is a bit of a problem (in my opinion). I hope you don't mind :"DD
1. This defeats the whole purpose of the show's message and the entire point of the story. The harsh reality of capitalism and will exploit the people just for their own selfish gain. Here's the thing: Netflix is doing that. Netflix is a money-grabber and will exploit anything (Netflix is already queer-baiting people ffs, look at the 457/inhun one. Yes, they're important but do you really have to falsely claim that inhun as a ship is canon??? Absolutely not. Btw, I'm not shaming the shippers (I'm an inhun shipper despite liking them platonically). I'm shaming Netflix for doing this)
2. I personally would feel satisfied if In-ho's past was up to the fan's interpretation. No more 8 episodes, no more sequels, and no more spin offs. While yes, it is an interesting thing to explore In-ho's character (so was the recruiter and the officer). I personally think it would be better if everything was vague.
3. I'm going to shame Netflix again. Netflix is a money hungry company that wants people to pay more (just like Disney). Cuz again, CAPITALISM
4. Another note of the show's message is that there's hope in the darkness. There will be light even our darkest times, continue to shed/share light to others so that they will not feel pain. And the spin-off will LITERALLY be the opposite of that. So, what should I believe then? That there will be hope or there will be nothing for us human beings? I prefer hope honestly, it's a fresh air message especially to those who are suffering in this world too. (Cuz Capitalism)
5. It will be a horrid message, I'm sorry. I personally will not fuck with it. Because, and I'm going to quote @izzyfishie for this, "This show is an allegory".
Anyway, that's all. I know I came off as harsh and I know people will be mad at me for saying this opinion but I'm just VERY SUSPICIOUS of Netflix and how it's treating HDH and the actors.
Sorry lbh...I love you tho qwq
Sorry for the long ramblings Mia and sorry for tagging you Izzy QWQ.
i don't want a front man spinoff :/
#squid game#lee byung-hun#coffee🕯talk#I'm not fucking with it#sorry qwq#And I know I'm repeating myself over and over lol.#I feel hyper rn due to 3 hours of sleep ToT

No one. Not one person deserves Gi-hun. He deserves so much better and more.
Except Ga-yeong. She’s his reason to live, his anchor. But since she’s not there anymore, he’s been drifting away (from her) into the void, somewhere there’s no point of return.

there is this one tag that you did a few days ago where you said something like “inho isnt proving anything but the fact that hes an asshole”
and i keep thinking about it because you are so correct. he literally sabotaged everything to make people look bad so that gihun would understand him but like ?? he made it that way. no inho people in general arent trash YOU are trash.
its so gay to put in that much work just for another man to have a mental breakdown enough to where they think like you now 😒 wtf
HI BLISS HI SWEETIE!!! my hands and wrists hurt really really bad but I wanted to answer you real quick so I’m using text to speech, apologies if things look kind of weird
But yes, I meant every word of that 😭 IDK maybe I’m missing something but I really really don’t see how Inho’s actions prove anything about humanity or whatever. Gihun has made friends and allies and met some really good people willing to fight the system with him, so all Inho really proved was that the system sucks. Which everybody already knows. And here in the games Inho IS the fucking system like nothing would have happened the way that it did if he didn’t orchestrate everything
His whole plan is extremely self-indulgent and it’s very transparent in my opinion lmao. I feel like his whole ‘ humanity sucks’ lesson didn’t land at all?? Again, all he’s proving is that HE sucks 😭
Maybe it’ll make more sense next season but yeah, from here it just looks like one man’s obsession that he decided to make everyone’s problem lmao
#his actions his consequences#he got it what he should've had it coming#people don’t suck Inho YOU suck#piece of shit lol#hwang in ho#squid game#inho bashing

can we talk about how there is an obvious sex room for the vips? how there is human furniture? how inho and everyone else watched as a vip sexually harassed a waiter and brought him to that room?
this is a normal occurrence in the games. and there is no way In-ho doesn’t know about it. I mean he has the most power to stop it and he just lets it happen..
thanks to this post and its comments for inspiring this one and for pointing out a few things i mentioned here!!!
#this...#I'm sorry#I personally don't like when in-ho is written as a morally good person when he enabled a lot of shit like this#please don't whitewash the villain#it's literally the reason why I like villains: they're fucked up and horrible#he's tragic yes#but don't whitewash him :((#hwang in ho#inho bashing#tw sa#tw rape#squid game
