bringing this back bc i got caught up on the chapters i was behind on today and went through every stage of grief, and bc i feel the need to really be clear that i would go to war over this specific version of remus & sirius.

every week brave face by @zoemillinwrites updates and every week it feels as if i’m being eviscerated by gd. cannot recommend it enough, truly one of the most beautiful character studies of both remus and sirius and the best portrayal of the prank i’ve ever read. every single word is like a fucking punch to the throat. 10/10, i will let it hurt me again next week 😌

thank u for tagging me in this, @kaaaaaaarf!! i actually do have a shitty old car that the bluetooth barely works in, so i can give y’all 7 CDs i actually have in my car right now!

1. digital ash in a digital urn - bright eyes // my all-time fave bright eyes album, this is what i put on when i have a long drive and really need to play something beginning to end. when i was in high school i put the CD booklet inside the clear cover of my binder and thought i was very cool 😌

2. rumors - fleetwood mac // i feel like this one is self-explanatory. everyone on earth who drives a car should have this on deck.

3. deja entendu - brand new // perhaps the most perfect emo album of all time, in heavy rotation in the summer when i have all the windows down but also perfect for driving at night all year long.

4. this desert life - counting crows // my hot take is that this is their best album, but that’s probably the nostalgia talking. perfect background noise if i’ve got friends in the car and we’re yapping.

5. gold - ABBA // this is the best album to play after leaving the bar/club, or when i need a pick-me-up after a really long day.

6. lonely runs both ways - alison krauss // a lot of y’all will be surprised to know how much i love country music and bluegrass, but most of my car CDs fall somewhere adjacent to those genres. a comfort listen <3

7. hot fuss - the killers // a truly perfect album, and a universal crowd pleaser to both anyone in my car and to drivers around me when i have the windows down. great for singing along as loud as possible!

A quick refresher about strangers on the Internet

As a fanfic writer who has been treated mostly well, but also weirdly, badly, rudely, and violently by a handful of people in this fandom, I beg you to remember that you don’t actually know fanfic authors—or most people online—at all.

You may feel like you do. You may even know parts of us, the parts that we reveal in our fics. But as people? Who wake up in the morning and have families and jobs and lives? Not even a little.

Please don’t make assumptions about stangers’ lives or beliefs. When you do, it’s detrimental to everyone, including yourself. (Not to mention it’s fucking weird. And so uncomfortable.) If you love fanfiction, if you value community, if you like the stories that authors tell, engage with the work. 

In the grand scheme of life, I am a really good person. A good friend and a good citizen with a strong moral compass. I know that about myself. And my friends know that about me. I have some wretched flaws, too. Things I wish I could change and things I’m probably wholly unaware of.

But in general, I know who I am. I know the difference between right and wrong. But you shouldn’t assume that I do!

Strangers on the Internet don’t know any of that about me. You can’t assume one way or another. We are strangers. Have you learned nothing from JKR??? Have you learned nothing from being devastated and blindsided and heartbroken by a person—again, a stranger—who you thought you knew? When you didn’t actually know her at all? 

I worry about people who think they know strangers on the Internet. Are you gonna get in their van next? Or give them your credit card number? Come on!!! 

The point is you can’t assume things about people you don’t know, good or bad. Please don’t make negative assumptions about me (the things people have said about me are mind boggling)!

And also don’t make good assumptions about me. (Those are ALL correct, by the way. Kidding.)

People in this fandom tell me they love me. They don’t. They love the work. People tell me they hate me. They don’t! They hate the work.

Why? Because they don’t actually know me.

People think they know things about me, and maybe they guess correctly sometimes. But not all the time. People who get to know me usually like me. Sometimes they don’t. That is life. 

So if you want your fandom to remain intact? Just. Be. Polite. Interact with works you like and scroll away from works you don’t. If you wouldn’t act that way in public, don’t do it online. It is the lowest bar.

Stay safe, stay smart, stay aware. Pair your open heart with a healthy dose of skepticism. Pair your skepticism with the benefit of the doubt and the understanding that most people are trying their best.

quick life update: unfortunately i will not be finishing my romcom fest after all. i got some bad news today about my dad’s health, and my immediate future has been somewhat derailed. i know i’ve been almost fully absent from fandom for quite a while, but i will be even further away for the foreseeable future.

for right now, he’s doing alright and so am i. that could (and likely will) change with no notice, so. just wanted to let y’all know <3
