hello from 2023! this is last year's prompt list and I'd love to invite anyone and everyone to participate if they'd like! unfortunately, as I said, I simply don't have time to run this with the dedication i have in previous years but it is always a delight to see any posts and i'll do my best to reblog things

hello everyone! pleased to present the 2022 Cabin Pressure advent listenalong! beneath the cut are the prompts for the episodes, which i will post every day but this is a headstart if you want it!

the first episode will be Abu Dhabi on the 29th, which is next Tuesday and you're welcome to join in however you fancy - write! draw! make liveblog posts! i would absolutely love to coordinate a live listen again, but my timezone has now become problematic. that said, i still propose that if we want to gather at around 6 or 7pm GMT, either on discord or on tumblr or whatever, we'll see what we can do about having a group listen.

hello everyone! we're getting towards the great annual cabin pressure relisten time of year, but it is my great displeasure to announce that I won't have time to run a full challenge this year because I will be too busy in school trying to get my airframe and powerplant certificate!

i can try my best to reblog old prompt posts on the right days, and if anyone else wants to join me in listening and posting, please do! I'll still be here and still be listening! I'll just be too busy filling my head with plane facts to run a full challenge at the same time.

Carl/Karl! He’s funny and adorable. I love his interactions with Martin and Douglas. This must be so much nicer than coming home to a string of interchangeable, impersonal standardized greetings.

Oh. Just realised, Theresa might also be classified as a minor character, wouldn’t she? Then it’s her! She’s just so brilliant, witty, being herself despite all the pressure she must have on her, being a princess. I love her.

- Oh Douglas, you’re not smuggling again… - Absolutely not, perish the thought! A simple exchange of gifts!

return to vrcu for rain? yeah, okay.

she's at the back of the garden when douglas finds her, lost in his big coat with her hands slid almost comically out of the enormous sleeves. there's a mug in her hands, which she's clutching so tightly he'd think she was warming her hands on it, were it not for the fact that he's been searching for her twenty minutes. there's no chance the coffee's still warm.

"hello, darling."

she turns, looks at him, and god will he ever learn what all the nuances in her expressions mean? it's hard enough with millie, who is growing up so quickly that as soon as he learns to understand something, she changes, so bright and fluid she is. verity, though - she's already well into her twenties, thirteen years echoing between them every time their dark eyes meet, and neither of them quite trusts the other enough to step into vulnerability. but how else do you learn? how else do you grow?

"hi," she says, eventually. is she croaky? are her eyes red-rimmed from lack of sleep? is her face wet because of the rain?

he knows full well that pushing won't get him anywhere. here's his daughter, grown up, willingly in his garden, but every step they take is so tentative. if he asks the question, then what? she steps back and adds another layer of protection to the feelings she keeps so well-guarded? she lashes out? he knows himself well enough to know he's prone to both, and she's far more similar to him than he could ever have imagined of a girl who spent half her life without him in it.

"do you want to come and dry off?" he asks, instead. his coat isn't really doing anything for her, dark hair sticking to her face, pyjama bottoms drenched in the grass. "maybe get a new coffee?"

she looks a little blankly at him, and he wishes he knew where her head was, and - oh, now he's getting wet.

"well, i'm going in," he says. "you're welcome to join."

he's going to call catherine later for advice, but for now he's going in to dry off. no sense in both of them soaking if he's not going to be able to get anything from her.

much to his surprise, she follows him to the back door, and both of them drip silently onto the floor while he wraps them in towels fresh from the drying rack.
