Religious Imagery in Karma P.1
THIS. THIS BEAUTY. THIS MARVEL represents jesus. HOWEVER, why does Jesus have a womens body? well thats because it represents Sua, or atleast her sacrifice. How she was a god, a religous figure that sacrificed herself for what Mizi saw as the future of humanity (same as Jesus). The thorns on her hands represents stigmata, the wounds suffered by christ on the cross, one nail in each hand. This alludes to Suas sacrifice, such as christ sacrificed himself on the cross. We also see the sacred heart of Jesus depicted, covered in thorns. A heart with thorns, often depicted as the Sacred Heart of Jesus, symbolizes Jesus's suffering, love, and sacrifice for humanity. The thorns represent the crown placed on Jesus's head during his crucifixion, signifying the pain and humiliation he endured. The heart itself being so exposed could represent Suas emotional sensitivity, her Heart (the literal name of her sub song) being out for anyone to hurt. The entire figure alludes to a sacrifice (stigmata) made out of love (sacred heart) despite the extreme pain it took to go through said sacrifice (thorns) seems to align with Suas entire character.

"But maybe, also, i thought that if i made myself starve on the outside, i wouldn't feel myself starving as much on the inside."
...
"Do you remember when you asked what i was starving for? I just want to be comforted. Please, will you just comfort me?"

Love how the characters I relate to are either quiet women who are so preoccupied by suppressing their big feelings they just end up driving themselves batshit insane or men who say fuck it and then become the most annoyingly overpowered characters in their universe and are plot armor’s biggest fan

One of the things that makes Ethel Cain’s use of the southern gothic so good is the way she gives the opportunity for the characteristics of the rural south that are usually looked down upon (mainly the poverty) an opportunity to morph itself into its own unique perspective of beauty that supersedes any stereotypes that were created.
And while this isn’t my personal aesthetic preference (nor am I even from the Deep South) I do deeply value the art of creation out of the old, abandoned, or mildly unpleasant because it helps reshape the experience you had while there. Maybe not into more of an objective one (given that this is also creating a different narrative) but one that provides at times, a genuinely more positive outlook on your life despite it being not at its finest point.
Probably not what I should’ve gathered from her use of southern gothic (especially since preachers daughter is a cautionary tale) but it’s something I think of in pieces that contrast feelings of misery with aesthetics—if done well it’s not romanticization entirely but it’s hope. Just my personal, though perhaps slightly misguided interpretation

I understand I’m guilty of this too having made analyses of fictional men and appreciation posts for their characters (and also just being a victim of the patriarchy duh) but there’s something just so devastating about coming to terms with how much of womanhood is defined by men, especially as a hyperfeminine woman.
Like obviously, but I’m not even specifically talking about the men themselves just more of their impact on women spaces/aesthetics/conversations and how just I will fundamentally never be able to understand how the majority of women operate because of the fact I’m not interested in men.
And I’m aware this method of thinking in of itself is in fact placing value on the patriarchy and the invisible presence of men in itself because it is essentially saying I cannot understand what it means to be a woman without the wanting or presence of a man.
This is by no means any type of unique discussion point but idk it’s just really lonely and heartbreaking the more I notice it in social media spaces and irl.

THE HUNT: you cannot change the cards you are dealt, just the way you play the hand...
the high priestess symbolizes: trusting your intuition and sacred knowledge
the hanged man symbolizes: sacrifice, surrender, and prophecy

Honestly I feel so sorry for Killua cause wydm you were tortured beyond human capacity for the majority of your life but what actually takes you out is your 14 y/o sorta-situationship? Like damn, it’s sad how togashi couldn’t even allow master assassins to be freed from that cannon event.
(All of this is satirical. Mischaracterization police pls don’t kill me!!!)

Real Hyuna fans don’t like Luka at all because she also doesn’t like him but simultaneously also love him as a character because she loves him. (He’s also arguably one of the most interesting moral cases I’ve seen in fiction imo but I digress.)
In this household we support women’s disastrous decisions full through!!! What she wants she gets!!!
(I will still obviously derive pure joy from placing him in the most horrific situations in fanfic tho. It’s too funny.)
