Seriously I don’t think enough focus was really put on just how intense this whole thing was. The amount of time Jack lived out, refusing to open his eyes, is actually horrifying. It was brushed off in the book but Jack experienced so much.

That poor man has been through a LOT throughout the books but somehow this felt more cruel and intense than a lot of the rest. And he really was so impressive pulling through like he did.

he did not turn out as perfect as I would like to see him (ah, these high demands on favorite characters) eh, but I am satisfied with the result

Introduction

Hey, so it’s been a while since I’ve been on tumblr. I had one for a short while to participate with the Welcome to the Table fandom but deleted it. I also still have my original one that was primarily Rhett and Link but I’ve changed quite a bit since then so feel a fresh start is better. I created this blog a little while ago to follow some content and figure I might use it more maybe. I dunno.

Anyway, I’m Wolf. I’m in my mid-30s and non-binary (agender with a lean towards masc) aro-ace. I have written in a few fandoms over time but generally prefer to RP (multi-para/novella 1 on 1) because I’ve gotten lazy and can’t bring myself to focus long enough to work on the giant sweeping stories the plot bunnies like to deliver.

Due to the state of New Fandom this needs to be said so let me get it out of the way at the top of this post.

This blog is Old Fandom and 18+

That means ship and let ship. That means like what characters you like regardless if they’re a villain or not. That means enjoy whatever fiction you enjoy.

Block and move on. Anyone with any sort of anti rhetoric (or adjacent) will be blocked if seen. Fiction is not reality. Liking something in make believe doesn't reflect on real life morals. You absolutely don’t need to like all ships or characters and it’s perfectly fine to downright hate certain ships and characters (I know I sure deeply dislike a ton of ships, I actually get annoyed when I see some pairings or dynamics) but it’s important to just mute tags for those things or block people and move on while respecting those who do like those ships/characters and not assigning a real life moral code to the fictional stories. We are not degrading as a society back to the ‘video games cause a violence epidemic’ mindset. Censorship is bad.

I do tag in full, including ships and even include their dynamics when applicable through standard format (who's name is first). So if you have certain ships or topics that ick you out that should be easy to mute. NSFW will be tagged though it's safe to assume this blog might talk about that kind of stuff anyway especially when pertaining to ships.

Fandoms

I usually attach to one fandom for an unspecified amount of time and that is all that I live and breathe. Usually from there I attach to one or two people from that fandom to talk to about it and often then RP. Unfortunately none of the media I’ve been hovering around has had much of a fandom and I’m not currently focused on the things that have a larger fandom so most things are low level. I’ll list the main fandoms on my radar as well as the main ships I look for in those fandoms though tbh in basically all fandoms the content I prefer most is on the more epic side (Long fics of a huge and potentially angst adventure that could be mistaken for canon for example). There are usually other ships I like or are neutral with in the fandom but these are the one I seek out. I’m also generally a one ship kinda person so if a character is listed in a ship below there is a high likelihood I vehemently don’t like them paired with someone else and I’m even more anal about the dynamics. I will mute/block things to keep it out of sight if it becomes a problem (Because ship and let ship means to mute what you don’t like and coexist that way. Not to actually consume what you don’t like. So please tag as necessary)

I ended up loving Travis way more than I ever expected by the end of book 4. Wouldn’t have minded in the least if he ended up in the main group.

I started relistening to vol 4 and Travis is a queer man in a big truck and no one can tell me otherwise and I'm definitely going to project the guy I'm seeing on him big time

the prophecy jack was forcefully given at the beginning of vol 1 is at least close to coming true

“you will watch all of your friends die.” current friends or all of jack friends? because i think all of his friends at that time ended up dying. Tony, Mawma and Pops, Tom, and Sabine. i feel like i’m forgetting someone

if the prophecy includes people like Amy, Jerry, Rosa, and Gaston who he becomes friends with later then he’s pretty close. Jerry “died” in Bedside Manner and the Gaston clone Sabine said was weird died in vol 4. he WATCHED them die, but they didn’t. the prophecy is still true.

O’Brian’s memory lost in vol 4 could be akin to death. Jack’s friend died, but she’s still around. she’s just not his friend anymore

so i think Rosa will die, look like she died, get revived, etc. we just have to wait and see

Tales from the Gas Station Volume 3: Travis

As part of his self-imposed redemption arc, Travis has appointed himself shipper-on-deck for Jack and anyone he thinks Jack might be interested in dating. Rosa. Jerry. O'Brien. Doc Howard. The Bathroom Cowboy. Travis has headshots of Jack and a dating profile that is only almost completely lies,and he will talk up his boy to anyone and everyone who'll listen.

Everyone's like, uh, Travis, this sounds like maybe YOU want to date Jack? And Travis is like, not really, but I will stretch to dinner, a movie and some light petting if it means he forgives me

Jack is desperately trying to collect every copy of that stupid dating profile and destroy them and get through to Travis that this is making him MORE angry, not less

No but this shit gets me every time. Like, it wasn’t just a short little bit it was a solid two months of very real sensation/sound that he had to endure and keep his eyes closed. I feel not nearly enough focus was given to his experiencing of that just to be then slammed back into reality again.

(And that was just his FIRST time at experiencing tons of not-real time because of shenanigans.)

Guys, I don't think we give Jack enough credit for surviving Sagoth. He was mocked, abandoned, gawked at, and severely inconvenienced for months and persevered. He's got some unbelievable willpower.
