I miss when raceblind casting was done with thought. Brandy's Cinderella is beautiful even now; an African America Cinderella falling in love with a Phillippino prince who has a white father and a African American mother. It really isn't hard when you actually think things through, the casting felt natural and none of the choices felt racially insensetive.

That's because Whitney Houston was over production and fought for it, and there was the intent that Black girls would see themselves positively, as princesses too. So race was absolutely a factor, at least in Brandy's casting, and it mattered. It wasn't "race blind" the way people treat the phrase now, as if to suggest that "everyone should just ignore the implications here". The implications were on purpose!

Nobody understands my resentment and borderline hatred of west germans who know nothing of east germany, who cannot conceptualize anything different from their propaganda.
