dishwashing headcanons for hms

soul lets dishes collect in his room

mind cleans his stuff up as he goes

heart also lets dishes collect in his room, but they get cleared out every now and then, mostly by mind or soul when soul is up to it..

if they have a dishwasher, mind and soul are the ones actually loading it - mind puts it through the washing cycle though. soul has a tendency to let things sit.

if they dont have a dishwasher its more variable.. mind dries dishes with a dish cloth and put them away. soul leaves everything to drip dry. heart dries the things he needs and leaves the rest on the counter... when he does put things away he always puts them away too soon so theres always a bit of water left in cups and bowls sometimes.

im also thinking mind would place cups upside down, but soul and heart place them upright. the actual washing of the dishes is predominantly done by mind, with soul coming second place. heart just washes the one item he needs if everything is dirty and he needs a cup, and he does that thing where you squirt dishwashing liquid straight on the thing and uses wayy too much of it for whats actually getting washed.

magical girls, generally, have something they fight against. this holds true in hms mg:ljga!.

heart, mind and soul fight 'Shadows', abstracted manifestations of consciousness and circumstance that have a tendency to mirror (or 'shadow') their individual and group situations. they often carry repetitive motifs or themes, functioning as tangible metaphors that must be 'resolved', much like any conflict.

the way in which a shadow is resolved varies. itd be wrong to say that there is ever one true or 'correct' resolution. rather, its a matter of what the group (or the individual,) sees as a proper ending to the matter. often, they default to violence.

it works well (or well enough...) for most shadows, as far as they can tell. its certainly easier than trying to talk it out...

i have some more art for hms mg:ljga! which id like to share, but its potentially quite an info dump, or otherwise just a lot of things to process (as the art itself is divided according to each of the three... and, me being as i am, id like to give each segment a bit of explanation).

im currently trying to decide on if i should just post it all together, or split it up and stagger it over a few days..? thoughts?

minds weapon retrieval (with external help). his bow is pulled from his spine. due to the awkward positioning and the ungainly shape, mind has great difficulty getting out his weapon quickly, especially by himself.

in order to avoid the annoyance (and the discomfort) of pulling out and putting away his bow, mind wears it across his back. this has the added benefit of being quick to draw. his arrows and their quiver are bought from a specialty shop.

HAII i was wondering what kind of brushes u use for ur art:3 they're so delicious in texture and im so obsessed ive been wondering abt it for a while (specifically ur favorite/most used brushes to use and also the brushes u used for your weak and overwhelming piece)(that last bit def does not give me away, this anon could be anyone, OKAY YAY TYYYY)

B:•] okay so i actually use quite a lot of brushes and tend to switch them up a Lot; i work in procreate, so ill list the default brushes for you! i also use a variety of brushes from brush packs ive found over the years... AND a set of brushes that ive made myself recently!! my 'favourite' brush tends to change frequently enough that i cant easily list One brush, although i do mention a particular favourite below. i try not to stick to one brush for too long.

default brushes i use frequently in procreate:

all of the lightpens in the luminance folder

multiple edited versions of the oil paint brush in the painting folder - i exclusively use my edited versions, as the main oil brush doesnt look quite right for me

occasionally the syrup, baskerville stable, inka, gel pen, ink bleed or fine tip pen under the inking folder - also edited versions. any pen that has the stability setting applied is edited to remove any stabilising

occasionally any pen from the airbrushing folder

other random pens from random folders according to how im feeling

basically, it changes quite a bit... i would list all the pens i like from downloaded brush packs but thatll get quite extensive and a bit harder to follow without being able to show the brushes themselves, sooo ill summarise it to one of my favourite pens from that extensive catalogue, which is the 09 pen from a pack called 'fooarc splash' that a friend of mine sent me. i have an edited version of that for painting as well. it has a wonderful texture to it (⁠´⁠-⁠﹏⁠-⁠` )

the weak and overwhelming piece, iirc, was made with an edited version of the default oil paint brush!

im happy to share any of the brushpacks i use if wanted, including the ones ive been using a lot recently that i made myself B:•] fun fact, the base stamp for those is a picture of jerma, and the rat from his movie 'rat movie 2: the movie'! ive been using those for the majority of my recent sketches and paintings (aside from pixel brush pieces)

okay its been long enough since i last asked this that im gonna ask again, since my work has likely shifted visually; since i make my own art, its not very easy to identify what traits are recognisable cues as it to it being 'calamarispider drew this'. so.. if you wish to answer, answer me this:

what would you (person who is reading this), say are the things that help you recognise that it was me who drew something?
