I'm thinking about knights very intensely today so-

A one-off (probably) thing about an old au of mine from the discord! Writing below the cut, context above!

Knight MR-SN, former scholar turned squire VR-LA, and hermit prince Maxim! Polybots!

MR-SN was a prodigy, becoming a celebrity of sorts as he kept working as a knight, his confidence once real is now very fake after a betrayal almost killed him.

VR-LA looked up to him, hero worship, encouraged by his anonymous penpal within the palace and MR-SN's confidence, ends up becoming MR-SN's squire with the intent to become a knight.

Maxim's the secret penpal, obviously. His anonymous friendship with VR-LA is the safest he's felt in a friendship in years. He thinks VR-LA wanting to become a knight is a little childish, but agrees VR-LA deserves work he enjoys more. He's not in the line of succession, being either a sibling to the current monarch or a second or third son.

VR-LA gets caught by MR-SN sneaking off to drop off a letter!

VR-LA peeked around the wall, spotting the usual spot in the garden where he tended to place the letters for his friend, taking a long moment to check to see if anybody was nearby. Upon confirming he was alone, he started to briskly walk to the tree, circling around to the other side. He opened his bag, taking out the envelope and tucking it into the hollow, taking a quick step back, only to collide with something.

Armor.

"VR-LA, my friend," MR-SN began, sounding incredibly amused, "is this where you've been wandering off to everyday?"

VR-LA felt immediately embarrassment wash over him, especially since he somehow didn't hear a man in full armor following him. "I- uh..." VR-LA wasn't sure if yes or no would be less weird.

"I'm not judging, it's a very cute way to exchange love letters!"

VR-LA's face felt so hot. He wanted to scream. "They aren't love letters?" He replied, his voice cracking.

MR-SN only looked more amused at that, entirely not believing him. "Of course, of course." He pat VR-LA on the shoulder.

"I'm telling the truth!"

"I didn't say anything otherwise." MR-SN replied. "So, who are they? A scholar you worked with? One of the gardeners? Another member of the staff?"

VR-LA kept his mouth shut, just starting to walk back.

"A noble would explain some of the jewelry I've seen you where." MR-SN commented, following. "I wouldn't recommend those romances though, they get messy."

"And you know that how?" VR-LA questioned.

It was MR-SN's turn to look embarrassed. "Well... I may have been on a few dates in the past, which didn't go well. Or went very well initially and then status became an issue."

"Well, as far as I know, he's not a noble, so it's fine." VR-LA said.

"Oh, so it's a he then?" MR-SN asked, quickly jumping into being borderline smug.

"Don't you have training to finish?"

"Luckily, no. I'm done for the day." MR-SN tossed an arm over VR-LA's shoulder and VR-LA felt his heart almost stop. "How about we go get some drinks? I can give you some advice."

9: How did you get into writing fanfiction?

RWD was actually my first proper foray! I’d written tiny things from various other fandoms but I’d never published anything. I think it was having a way to interact with the fandom through the discord that really spurred me into doing it, I’d never had any connection with the fandoms of media I liked so I’d never really felt like I had an audience, and hence little motivation to write my thoughts out.

10: Is there a character or ship you'd love to write for, but haven't yet?

Hmm… Probably Maxim/Alexander. I have some fic ideas for them but I just haven’t had much of a chance to write them yet, but I’m shaking them, they’re so god damn tragic

Also I have a couple silly ideas for Vhas/VR-LA but I don’t know if I’ll ever get around to that, I just think they’re funny

19: How do you get over writer's block?

… Great question

Uhh, I kind of don’t? When the words aren’t wording I generally just don’t write, I feel bad about it but if it’s not going to happen then it just won’t ig. Usually if I need to write I will try settle down in the normal spot where I write (cosy in bed) with tea or smth to try prompt the vibes. One thing that does help is getting outside encouragement and accountability. Like doing the thing where I go ‘for every vote/reblog I’m add X amount of words to X’. Having small manageable chunks I’m aiming for makes it easier and less daunting, and then usually when I start I’ll fall into a rhythm.

But generally speaking I don’t really do anything, kind of just wait for the inspiration to hit
