Day Nine - The Tyrant Mayor

Recently, a lot of my villagers have been asking for changes involving a greeting or catchphrase. This time, Egbert approached me - Although it certainly wasn’t a good idea to put me on the spot like this.

While focusing on my checklist, I saw Angus nearby. I know he’ll probably leave sooner or later, so I’m sneaking in as many pranks as I can cram into a session. This time, I trapped him in an enclosure of holes, with a pitfall next to him. I watched him scramble frantically with a grin on my face.

Not long after, Lolly asked me to visit her house. Lo and behold, I completely forgot. I did, however, remember to visit Velma! Later, Lopez told me that he had been delivered one of her packages. A bit late for that, but regardless, I was able to get the parcel to her. What had she ordered?

Yeah, Lopez can have this back.

Day Eight - Back in Business

After my short hiatus, I was quickly able to get back into the swing of things. Frita asked me to play some hide-and-seek with her, as well as Iggly and Angus. I agreed, finding the trio in quick succession.

On my way back from the plaza, Iggly decides to visit my house. It’s rather unorganised - Furniture haphazardly sprawled across an uncannily big room - but he seemed to enjoy his stay.

After that, I checked up on my favourite villager, Purrl! And she gives me the delightful news that Angus is moving away! I decided to flex on him by stealing the fish he was attempting to catch (Purrl even applauded me!)

Finally, somebody's mittens, abandoned on the beach. After some interrogation, they turn out to be Egbert’s!

Welcome To: Calico Row (Day 6)

Checking my mailbox was the first thing I did that day, and my Worthy Painting was delivered as promised. However, I was met with another surprise when Angus asked me to buy a Flowery Painting off of him. Honestly, I’m surprised it was even genuine. 

While walking around town, I agreed to visit Lolly’s house. Once I’m there, she allows me to buy one piece of her furniture. I chose her pothos.

After leaving , I finally spoke to Frita. She tells me about Katrina visiting. However, like most things involving Frita, I completely forgot to get my fortunes read.

I instead got too distracted by the allure of new villagers. I was able to track down Deirdre’s house, and checked up on Purrl (Who had just started setting up!).

Not everything in Calico Row is as cheerful as it seems, though. Such is the case when I noticed that Angus had caught fleas. Repulsed, I dug a barrier around his house. The buried item in the centre is a pitfall seed.

To end off the day, I checked on Main Street, completing my usual routine of buying candy, talking to Sable and assessing fossils. However, I noticed that a new store was opening east to Nookling Junction. Not only that, but I was also able to upgrade my house.

Funds were initially a worry, but I was able to beetle farm my way back into wealth.

Welcome To: Calico Row (Day 5)

This came out later than I wanted it to - Sorry!

Another day in the quaint town of Calico Row. I walk around town, like I usually do, digging up fossils and whatnot. Past the bridge, I notice that Purrl has plotted her house next to the river. I think it looks really nice there, and I can’t wait for her to move in!

Frita had also started setting up boxes today, but I completely forgot to talk to her. Instead, my interest was piqued by some newly-unlocked features.

The first of the two was Crazy Redd’s art exhibition. I used a guide to determine which of his work was real. It’ll be a nice contribution to the museum!

After that, I decided to take my first trip to the island. The fee is cheap - Only 1,000 bells - And while I didn't even fill out the Island’s Box, I easily made back my money. This time at the island, I focused on fun. I did some tours, nabbed some exotic fruit and caught some fauna for the museum. Of course, I will eventually go there to beetle farm, but with my daily money rock and converted MEOW Coupons, I’m faring pretty well money wise.

The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was Kapp’n insistently hitting on me.

Once I was back at home, I talked to Wisp and had him take the form of Deirdre. My Dreamie list is slowly coming together!

Welcome To: Calico Row (Day 4)

Upon starting the day, I am introduced to Tortimer, the previous Mayor of Calico Row. He informs me of a faraway tropical tropical island. I’m not actually able to go today, although I will absolutely be abusing this feature in the future.

Another thing to look forward to tomorrow is the fact that Frita is moving in! I won’t be keeping her, and it is a shame she decided to move right in front of Egbert’s house, but she has a cute design!

I’ve also been doing a lot more requests for my villagers - Delivering gifts, catching critters and the like. Unfortunately, that meant that I’d have to deal with a certain somebody again… Angus. Once again, he has asked me to give him some furniture recommendations. And, as if history was repeating itself, he has continued to be an ungrateful bastard. I gave him the “net treatment”. Later, he asked me to give him a new catchphrase. I’m hoping that the others turn on him for this unacceptable language!

My effort wasn’t in vain, though. I discovered shortly afterwards that I have gotten myself a 100% approval rating! Finally, I’ll be able to work on town ordinances and PWPs! To celebrate, I rub Wisp’s lamp and invite Purrl over. I’m not sure when she’ll move in, but I’m excited!

Welcome To: Calico Row (Day 3)

The first thing I was informed of when opening my file was Egbert’s upcoming birthday. I’ll just have to remember to buy him a gift. It seems he enjoys historical, red items.

The next is information on an upcoming fishing tourney. I hope I'll be able to beat Agnus. He was so ungrateful after I gave him something for his room (He even declined it!). I dashed the brains out of him until he started throwing vague threats at me.

All I’ll say is that once I unlock Amiibo functionality, he’ll be the first to get the boot.

On a more positive note, I've been able  to pay off my home loan, introduce myself to Lopez and bump my approval rating up to 67%.

Welcome To: Calico Row (Day 2)

Today started with Lillaine exiting her newly built house, before taking a detour around town; While its layout isn’t what I’d call the easiest to navigate through, I am certain it will work out in the long run. Once I’ve made further progress into my Approval Rating - I managed to reach 35% today - I'll totally be investing into some bridges.

Speaking of housing, Lolly asked me this today. She sure isn’t the brightest, but she’s got kindness to compensate.

While completing daily chores, I came across Wisp’s Lamp. We unfortunately can’t use the Amiibo feature at this moment, although it does give me time to consider just how sparingly I’ll use it. On one hand, gradual moderation is more in-line with the game’s intended playstyle. On the other hand, I also just want to go ham and get all my Dreamies right away. XD

At least Lopez is moving in tomorrow! I’m on the fence about keeping him, as I’m planning to have THREE deers already - Deirdre, Fauna & Erik - but he’s too cute! I’ll probably keep him temporarily.
