5. 《悟空》 Wukong

Perfomers: 张淇 Zhang Qi, 白举纲 Bai Jugang, and 霍尊 Huo Zun (you'll only see Huo Zun as a blur, because he was censored out of the final cut)

Why it's great: One of the best gufeng songs, a blend of opera and pop. This isn't the OG, but it's a lovely and quite theatrical cover. Huo Zun especially has a great voice (despite existing as a blob on camera).

You might also enjoy: 戴荃 Dai Quan is the OG for 《悟空》 and nobody else delivers “佛祖” in quite the delightful way he did on 《中国好歌曲》. (He doesn't use that delivery in the album version below, but the 《好歌曲》 version is available on YT.)

4. 《當年情》 Old Affection

Performers: 陳小春 Chan Siu-Chun, 張智霖 Cheung Chi-Lam, 林曉峰 Lam Hiu-Fung, 謝天華 Tse Tin-wah, 梁漢文 Leung Hon-Man, Bridge, and GAI

Why it's great: It feels real. The friendship, the affection, the nostalgia, every bit of it is real in this performance.

You might also enjoy: Everything about the Greater Bay Area group (“大灣區的代表們”). They are absolute clowns just on this show to have fun, speak terrible Mandarin, and film this devastatingly funny short video. Admittedly the joke is probably funnier if you're familiar with the show, but trust me and everyone who voted for them, it's hilarious

3. 《好春光》

Performers: 张晋 Zhang Jin, 尹正 Yin Zheng, 高瀚宇 Gao Hanyu, 李响 Li Xiang, 敖犬 Owodog

Why it's great: Martial arts and dance blended into amazingness. 张晋 Zhang Jin (martial arts) and 李响 Li Xiang (dance) are on absolute fire here. Li Xiang hitting the giant drum with a foot arched over his head? Perfection. The entire Drunken Fist portion? *chef's kiss*

You might also enjoy: 《舍离断》 is another gufeng dance performance, but a bit meh compared to this group's usual standard, even considering my love of gufeng. However, if you want to see more of 李响 Li Xiang performing ridiculous feats of dance, here you go. (Also he tries to teach everyone else to comport themselves like ethereal creatures, and absolutely nobody else on this team has the Vibes.)

2. 《曾經我也想過一了百了》 I Too Once Wanted To End It All

Performers: 林志炫 Lin Zhixuan and 热狗 Hotdog

Why it's great: As someone who has struggled with depression, this particular genre just really hits me, and when delivered with Lin Zhixuan's voice? He's a very lyrical singer, and Hotdog's rap adds an edge to spice up his lovely-but-long held notes.

You might also enjoy: A song with the same vibes: 华晨宇 Hua Chenyu's 《好想爱这个世界》 Really Want To Love This World. I do not cry about music but I cried about this one

1. 《算你狠》 So You're Ruthless

Performer: 陳小春 Chan Siu-Chun

Why it's great: The acting. The drama. The performance. He took a bitter breakup song, said "what if I perform it from the perspective of The Joker", and nailed it

You might also enjoy: The other great recent variety-show performance of 《算你狠》, by 周深 Zhou Shen and 梁龙 Liang Long. Two singers who could not have more different styles, but they had so much fun with this patchwork quilt of a remix. I love Zhou Shen's alternative song choices.
