There was nothing good about being a 10. Everyone thought that you had more options but you didn’t. I don’t know what they taught the 10s or what they made them do, but it fucked them all up in the head. I miss the Agency sometimes. Other times I like the freedom we got now.

Emmaline Walker from Intelligence, In the Company of Shadows Emma’s deep blue gaze was often polite, interested, and amiable. Emma had greeted each trainee with a smile that had actually seemed genuine. The only two women Boyd ever had much interaction with at the Agency were his mother and Harriet so seeing Emma was almost a relief. Not all female agents were as extreme as the former two…

Know our pain!
okay FOR REAL
How is it when I go to check Fade (or other ICoS books) for reference on super specific info – even knowing exactly what happens because I wrote the fucking thing and we reread and edited it and reread it a million times plus I’ve skimmed parts of it again over the years–
Despite all that, somehow I find myself rereading it??? WHY??
I just reread like 3 chapters without even meaning to, because I started skimming for one thing, and then somehow?? it was like 30 minutes and a chapter and a half later and I was like wow Vivienne you’re pretty boss also Boyd you need a break – Like? I know wtf happens? How the hell do I start reading it without even realizing it???
This has happened to me over the years and every time I’m perplexed like wtf is my problem here XD jfc
(Jeffrey anon, I went to check for stuff on him to answer the question - will finish it tomorrow! Now I have to go to bed because I ended up wasting time reading the goddamn end of Fade what the hell THERE’S NO JEFFREY RELEVANCE IN THOSE CHAPTERS WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM)

Hi, it's the anon who asked if you got my question lol hopefully you get this one! My question was, if during the Finley mission, right after Boyd kills Finley and his wife (ex?)... what if, right after that happened for some reason their children walked in and saw Boyd. What would he do? Would he kill them? Or try to find a way to avoid that? I'm so curious as to how far he would have allowed the Agency to push his morals.
Hi! I got it this time yay the tumblr gods smiled upon us!
I think he would have done everything he could to avoid killing them because he thought it was bullshit Finley had to die in the first place. He might have even tried some workaround like bringing them somewhere safe and away from the city without telling the Agency as a sort of rebellious fuck you to them for the way they decided who got to live and who got to die. But there are probably circumstances in which he would have not been able to avoid killing them if they’d suddenly shown up, and so there are probably timelines where he might have had to do that. If he had, it probably would’ve been something that weighed on his mind.
He didn’t really have the same morality clause Hsin did of innocents not deserving etc etc… it’s kind of interesting when you think about it, because both of them were innocents who were super fucked over by others and no one came to save them, but the way they reacted was opposites in a lot of ways. Hsin had a thing for saving innocents in really specific circumstances despite the fact he’d given up on humanity, probably because he knew what it was to be hurt like that. Boyd knew what it was to lose everything and had given up on living as a result. So he felt like there was no point saving anyone when they may not have a life to live even after they were saved. He hadn’t given up on humanity, he just gave up on life itself. So Hsin would save people who didn’t fit his definition of people who deserved what they got, and Boyd didn’t even evaluate that at all for the most part because, honestly, deep down, I wonder if he felt like anyone deserved anything at all. Like, Boyd was always willing to change his mind on people if they gave him enough reason. Hsin could really clearly tell at a glance who was worth his kindness and time, but Boyd couldn’t really parse anything because he was too shut down.
I mention all that because I think Hsin 100% would have saved the kids in that circumstance since they didn’t deserve it, unless he was forced to kill them like he had to kill other kids one time. But he hated that he’d done that so at that point in the series, he had humanized others just enough that it seems to me (of course, not being Hsin’s writer) that he would have fought that decision. Boyd, on the other hand, was still in a pretty transformative part of his life. He had mostly given up on giving up on life by that point but he still hadn’t quite found his footing for morality depending on circumstances. So I think it’s possible there are situations where maybe he had to do something he hated there (beyond what he already hated, of killing Finley) but if he had say at all, he wouldn’t have wanted to hurt them directly. He knew he was already hurting them a hell of a lot by what he already had to do. But if he HAD killed them, I think especially later when his head was on more straight, it would have been something that would come back to his mind like other big things had in his time at the Agency. Regrets he couldn’t erase. Same way Hsin thought back to those kids at times too. (btw hope I’m remembering correctly it was Hsin who killed that Italian lady with her kids and not Kassian…. it’s been so long)
Anyway not sure if that helps but hope it does! Let me know if you have further questions though :)

I've been reading icos again and got a refresher on how agents typically need to have annual psych evals, or it's at least mandatory to see a shrink after enemy interrogation, and I keep trying to picture Archer in one of those. I really am trying to envision how it would go but I keep ending up laughing
LOL omg XD I never imagined that before but yeah, that was pretty regular policy so I’m sure it happened, and that probably was hilarious XD Thanks, now I’m cracking up too XD
OH MY GOD. Imagine if Owen ever had to go to a therapist……. or Blair. Between them, Archer, Hsin… Those poor therapists weren’t paid nearly enough at the Agency my god XD

Link
Guys, this is really important. Until now, Google collected your data, but did not attach your name to it. Now, they can, and will. This new thing they’re doing will allow them to collect your data across searches, your email, Youtube, Maps, Google+, and all their affiliates, and build a complete profile of YOU.
If that doesn’t bother you, maybe this will: they own and can sell all that data, including anything you create and send (artists and writers, take note).
There is a way you can opt out of this ridiculousness. It’s described in the link, but if you’re still not sure about it, please ask me and I’ll guide you through how to turn all this off.
This is my wake-up call. I’ll be locking down my devices and scaling back what I put through the big Google machine, which means you may see less of me across social media. I’m going to keep researching this, but it may mean in order to keep the rights to my creative work, I’ll have to keep it out of Google’s hands. And that may take some doing.

I seriously just want to beg Ais to release every unpublished thing they have for icos, no matter the cringe (as if)
Previously unreleased sex scene, ICoS 1/27, Boyd & Hsin
This was the original scene we had for Boyd and Hsin in 1/27. We later decided the sex scene didn’t fit well and removed it for the final version. Since then, it was requested that I share any B/H sex scenes we hadn’t released. This is the only one I can think of offhand. I was going to share it in the context of the whole story of 1/27:04 but it turns out we had a bunch of versions of that and it’s too much of a pain figuring out which draft version to share, so I excerpted just the sex scene itself. There may be variations in the non-sex overlap between this and what we released, but whatever, you get what you get! ;p
FAIR WARNING: I can make no guarantees as to the quality of this. It might be absolutely awful, and if so I’m sorry for the disappointment. I’m not editing this hardcore because I will stop myself from posting it if I try lol So you get a probably-crap-draft-version, I’m sorry. Also it’s a relatively short scene, sorry.
SPOILER WARNING: legit, don’t read this until you’ve read through all of ICoS and 1/27, or else it will be spoiler central. I guess unless you don’t care about huge ass spoilers. Then go for it? But like. Dude, you’re gonna be mad at yourself if you ever read ICoS later. I mean, I already have to include a spoiler just in telling you what this thing is. But there are other spoilers in it too.
And now – ENJOY
(PS I did not at all remember that Boyd was like this in this scene omg *dies* my son… what…. why are you so……. #¬_¬#)
READ BELOW! Or click here.
#i honestly can't even describe what a treat this was#like new content#this was new content!!!!!#and it wasn't cringe-worthy at all#i loved it but it hurt bc it made me realize just how much i miss them#this world#and all the people in it#hsinxboyd#1/27#anthology#subone#ais-n

The best part of re-reading a book is seeing the early interactions of your canon ships and being like “you don’t even know that that’s the love of your LIFE right there… but I do!” It’s like such a wonderful, satisfying, Look-How-Far-We’ve-Come moment.

I mean I SAY I love the ‘Enemies to Lovers’ trope but what I really MEAN is that I love the
‘Enemies to Resentful Allies In A Time Of Crisis to Grudging Mutual Respect to Growing Fondness Concealed By Snark to Hurtful Betrayal to Slow Reconciliation With A Greater Understanding Of Each Other to Strange But Solid Friendship to Unexpected Feelings In A Time Of Crisis to Denying Their Feelings While Growing Closer As Friends to Epiphanies Of Love In The Worst Possible Circumstances to Mutual Pining to Unbearable Sexual Tension to Lovers’
trope

literally one of my favorite romance tropes of all time is character a is a really notorious gang leader/well known feared ruler of some kind etc and no one dares cross them or talk back to them etc because they won’t make it out alive but character b can literally get away with saying whatever they want and everyone knows it’s because they have character a wrapped around their finger and character a is gentle with character b and everyone wouldn’t dare laying a finger on character b because then character a would literally chop their head off
#THIS IS SO EMILIO OMG#well minus the gentle part#lol#emilio vega#srsly this is so true of emilio and zach!!!#and emilio kind of literally did do that last part when someone laid a finger on zach#subone

lol but srsly I can’t get the visual of Hsin doing that on elevator cables out of my head. Like headcanon now. That’s how he’s “had fun” or worked out over the years with no one knowing. No cameras in the elevator shaft! lol
oakantony replied to your post “okay this is kind of a weird question but in the interludes once boyd…”
ok I’m dying at the thought of some guy at a water cooler stopping a coworker and going “you hear vivienne’s son is banging that brown roboassassin again? i’m pretty sure they broke a window fuckin on it earlier this week.”
LOL
And the coworker rolls her eyes and is like, “Ugh. Again? Maintenance just fixed that last month.”
Some other person walking by is like, “Wait, are you talking about Sin and Boyd?”
“Yeah.”
“UGH. The guards said they wouldn’t stop talking dirty down in the training room. The training room! Come on! All of us have to use that!”
The coworker says, “No man, that’s not even the worst of it. Did you hear about the time Sin got all emo thinking Boyd didn’t like him so he got all ridiculous with an elevator?”
“What??”
Original dude by the water cooler goes, “Oh god yeah. Remember that one day none of us could fucking get to work on time because all the elevators kept lagging?”
New person says, “!! So that freak destroyed one of the elevators?”
Female coworker and dude by cooler exchange a look. “Uh. No. That would be the normal response.”
“Destroying an elevator is normal??”
“Well, I mean. If you’re comparing it to what actually happened, where he just hung around on the fucking cables above the elevators doing god knows what, and they didn’t know which elevator he was above at different times so they had to stop ALL of them until they could locate him… then… yeah. Destroying an elevator would have been goddamn normal.”
–
Somewhere, people probably have a tally of all the stupid shit that happened around compound because of those two, and inexplicably everyone probably brings all that information to Luke Gerant thinking he actually cares and wants to track this shit XD Just because he seemed nice to them sometimes XD

okay this is kind of a weird question but in the interludes once boyd & hsin got back together almost everyone immediately knew and i was wondering how they knew?
Not a weird question, but lol tbh, I feel like it would be kind of hard to be at the Agency and know about Hsin and Boyd being a thing, without knowing the latest in their relationship status. They kind of projected outwardly whether they were doing well or not based on how dramatic shit got around them. Also, there were some people they told who probably told others. And they had their little fan groups who paid attention to details and probably spread the word. They kind of seem like the Kardashians of the Agency… whether you like them or not, whether you give a shit about their situation or not, somehow you always end up hearing about everything even if you don’t want to look for it. And if you do want to look for it, there’s enough information or context readily available to figure it out on your own if you aren’t told directly.
#lol#this really does make a lot of sense#i can so see this being a thing#even with zach and emilio too you know?#though that'd probably be harder to figure out since z's better at keeping it under wraps#except emilio isn't lol#hsinxboyd#subone#interludes#ais-n
