small habits to adopt

wake up early

drink a glass of water as soon as you wake up

meditate or concentrate on your breathing for at least 2 mins

visualize your goals for the day and for the future

make your bed 

do calf raises or squats while brushing your teeth

floss

dry brush

take a cold shower (or end a hot shower with cold water right after for about 3 mins)

put on lotion while your skin is still damp

cleanse, tone, and moisturize your face

apply sunscreen

drink a glass of water before and after every meal

listen to a podcast/ted talk instead of music while walking or driving

park far away from where you’re going

stand up straight

look at people in the eye when talking to them

look straight ahead when walking, not at the ground

smile at strangers

stop complaining (it’s bad for your health)

bring cash instead of credit card

track your expenses

turn off notifications on your phone when doing work

resist the urge to go on your phone and observe your surroundings more

set a timer for 5 mins when scrolling through social media and stop when the time is up

learn at least 5 new vocab words from your target language every day

exercise while watching shows/videos

read at least 10 pages every day

do tasks that can be done in 2 mins right away

drink tea

prepare workout gear the night before

jot down tasks for the next day before sleeping

write down quotes/lyrics that strike a chord

spend 30 mins on a hobby

journal and write down things you are grateful for

aim for 7-8 hours of sleep

My 30-day challenges this month of March

So it’s another new month! Can you believe it? I can’t. Time is going by so fast, and I haven’t done a single thing that I wanted to do this 2018. Well, I have started my studyblr and langblr but I’m struggling so hard to maintain it and even practice the new language I’m learning (It’s Japanese if ya’ll are wondering.). Lots of stuff are happening in my personal life right now that it’s so hard to keep up. Honestly speaking, I am not in my best shape, and I may have been feeling depressed for a number of weeks now.

That’s why I’ve decided to still push through my 30-day challenges that I have assigned each month. Last January was “Language month” and February was a “cleaning challenge” month which I was not able to do. March was supposed to be a “Piano challenge” month but I think I need some rearranging in my life so I’m also including minimalism in the list.

Hopefully, I can be consistent at least 5 days in a row.

   Last year we introduced Safe Mode, which filters sensitive content in your dashboard and search results so you have control over what you see and what you don’t. And now that it’s been out for a while, we want to make sure everyone has the chance to try it out.                    

   Over the next couple weeks, you might see some things in your dashboard getting filtered. If you like it that way, that’s great. If you don’t, no problem. You can go back by turning off Safe Mode [there’s a link here in the original mail] any time.

hey everyone, you guys can call me nessa! i’ve been a part of the studyblr community for a while now but ig now i’ve finally decided to create a studyblr haha.

i’m in the class of ‘22, i’m a slytherin, and i live in the us (specifically norcal)! i speak english and mandarin and i’m currently learning spanish (even though i’m not very fluent in it). i prefer not to give out my real name on here simply bc of privacy issues on the internet, but nessa is a nickname that my friends use :)

I want to see more dark photos.

I want to see more photos with diverse, colourful, and interesting backgrounds.

I want to see more notes written in ballpoint

I want to see more of the rushed bujo pages made because you didn’t have time to do it but didn’t want to have that week missing from your journal

I want to see more in-class notes, the notes you took before you re-wrote them to make them “post worthy”

I want to see more messy desks. The aftermatch of journaling and studying

I want to see more wooden desks, more desks that aren’t white, more desks covered in coffee rings and paint splats

I want to see more on the fly photos

And I’m not writing this because I want to support “small accounts” or “poor study accounts” I want to see it because I’m sick of every single post looking the same as the one I saw last. I’m tired of accounts with amazing content not getting the growth they deserve because their photos aren’t overexposed on white desks. I want to see it because it stands out, it’s different, and I like it.

So many accounts quit before they even get started because of the precedent that you have to have expensive stationery and stark white photos to grow and make an impact. Because they don’t feel they can live up to the expectations of the community. And that makes me really sad.

It’s that time of the year to reflect on everything that has happened. Have you thought of your new years resolution yet?

This year had been hard on me for the most part. I started to question every belief and principle that I hold on to. I kept some of them, change a few, and had new ones. It’s really hard to motivate yourself by yourself so I listed down some things that I want to do and take note of for the coming year using the @mosseryco planner. ❤️

here’s some real talk kids.

Stationery isn’t important when it comes to your education. Say it again. Just because you don’t have all those staedtler triplus fineliners or zebra mildliners or a filofax planner doesn’t mean you can’t become a studyblr. It doesn’t mean that your hard work and effort put into your notes is considered irrelevant. Because when you’re taking that exam, whether you wrote your terms and definitions in aqua and violet respectively or highlighted your diagrams in mild vermilion, or on the other hand you scribbled everything in black biro, your studying is what gets you the score you want. Not your goddamn fineliners. Your effort, your self discipline that’s what gets you what you want. I get it, they’re pretty. But when the hell did studying and education become more about what your notes and study materials look like rather than the actual content? So if switching pens every five seconds stresses the hell out of you because you have five exams to study for and there isn’t a whole lot of time, or if you’re hesitating creating a blog about the importance of education and studying because of stupid ass pens, this post is your reminder.
