Introduction post ♡!
Hey there, name's Capri!
I'm 16, female, and hoping to improve my writing skills with this blog.
I was browsing my local library and discovered this book, "5,000 Writing Prompts" by Bryn Donovan, and I decided, why not? I've enjoyed writing ever since I was little, and for many years I said I would be a writer. I'm going to be a biomedical engineer, actually, but I still have a fondness towards writing. I love literature, reading and writing. And, as a junior, I figure that I should get on top of scholarships now. I should gather funds for college as soon as possible. To do that, I need to write top-tier essays. So, with this book and this blog, I would like to begin writing!
At my high school, there is a creative writing club, but it's quite small, just me and another student. As much as we'd like to participate more and gain more members, we're both quite busy. But, I've also decided to take matters in my own hands and attempt to make it more active, by meeting with our teacher and (hopefully) sharing works in the school's newspaper, thus attracting more members. Our teacher has also shared competitions that we can compete in an gain monetary rewards, which would go to my college fund.
Perhaps I'm being too optimistic here, I can admit that! Even if this blog gets no traction, even if the club doesn't get as popular as I'm hoping, I still think that writing will help me. I can flesh out the characters in my head. I can indulge in a hobby that can be done anywhere, anytime. It'll foster my writing skills, thus helping me in other classes and essays for scholarships.
In short, this is a creative writing blog using prompts the book "5,000 Writing Prompts" by Bryn Donovan, in hopes of improving my writing skills so that I can succeed in scholarship essays and creative writing competitions; to fund my education.
If you would like to submit a prompt, feel free to! All my prompts will be posted here on Tumblr. The book has categories for all 5,000 prompts, so I too will follow the organization system by creating hyperlinks in a separate post, which would be available at the end of this one!
Thank you for reading, take care!
