sorry but people that defend mikes character change in s3 tend not to acknowledge how butchered half of the writing was in that season (hopper, the entirety of the byers family and by extension the party becoming less of a focus, unnecessary russian plotline that took away from the show's meaning, the strangely over-comedic tones and excess fanservice). my personal take is that season three was a fluke and s4 mainly served the purpose of getting back on track and preparing us for the final season. that included mike

yeah mileven isn't romantic and byler endgame yada yada but people completely putting aside how important the dynamic is between mike and el is mind boggling (also firm believer that they do love each other platonically)

i won't lie ST season 1 came out when i was too young (10) to watch it so i thought el was a boy. i saw the one clip of mike and el in the cafeteria and thought stranger things just had a gay childhood friends to lovers story off the bat...

byler is definitely endgame guys idk how you could still have doubt. would if really be smart to make a character with a one-sided story have all/most of their scenes with the character they're "hopelessly" attracted to in the LAST, CONCLUSIVE season ?

anyone think it's interesting that even though mike and will are best friends, they've never mentioned the fact that they'd be siblings in law if jonathan and nancy got married? how the cast nor crew has never referred to their relationship as sibling like? even though in 99% of mainstream media that would be the case?

i'm gonna go out on a limb here and say there was less build up to jopper having their relationship arc in s3 to byler having theirs in s5. jopper is still insanely popular and well liked by fans, and had no hate around it when it was JUST a ship. byler has a large following but way more hate than jopper ever got. i wonder why..?
