I mostly listened to this book because it was “free” ( included in my subscription), but honestly I’m glad I did cuz it was a delight! We have two men falling in love with each other plus an ok murder mystery plot. We have Clem who is the landlord who falls for one of his lodgers Rowley who is a taxidermist. What I really loved about this was all of the actually talking about boundaries and if someone likes what’s happening or not. We Love Consent!!! Plus I enjoyed that Clem was a person of color as well as someone who has sensory overload issues and could be honest about it with Rowley. Then not made to feel bad about or less then, by Rowley who was understanding and if Rowley did mess up he would apologize. It was just a good time for me. Tokyo Ghost is about a world addicted to technology and a couple, one so far in the tech world they don’t know up from down and the other trying to get the person they love back into the real world. When they take a job the forces them out of their everyday they see a chance to make it to the last non tech place in the world, The Garden Nation of Tokyo. Tbh I mostly picked this up because Sean Murphy is one of my favorite artists. And I was very pleasantly surprised with how good it is seeing as it’s not what I usually read. I will say definitely has more adult themes in it so be aware of that. Ok so this was one of those times where I knew nothing about the comic before hand and then was super pleasantly surprised! Cuz it has a really fun storyline where it’s these two factions that have been fighting each other for centuries via reincarnation. And everyone in said faction has a certain role they play. So you have that but then an adorable wlw romance comes into play and I was like “Hot diggity dang! After watching the movie I 100% had to read the original comic! And I gotta say it didn’t disappoint. The movie definitely changed a few things here and there but the main story and the characters pretty much stayed the same. So if you liked the movie then you’ll most likely enjoy the comic and vice versa. So I may have done that thing where you thought you did the thing but turns out you were super wrong! Umm it’s definitely been a bit sense I’ve read this one but I’m pretty sure it’s the one with the sweet murder mystery in a big hunted castle. And that’s always Fun vibes! Plus we get more of Stokers big brother who is fun and witty! I will admit that they had me in the first have with the stuff going down with Veronica and Stoker but just keep reading, it get’s a pretty satisfying resolution. They don’t play you like in other books I’ve read. Sooo I was really trying my best to stretch this book out so it would last longer.... I finished it in four days. So you know not too bad. Again one of my top favorite book series! I just love these characters and the adventures they go on. This one have fun potential royal scandals! Jack the Ripper vibes! Homoerotic undertones! Ya’know what more can you ask for in a book. This book was definitely a winner for me. I mean Arthurian legend retold ✅, a ton of lgbt+ representation ✅, a diverse cast of characters ✅, plus it’s in SPACE!! ✅✅ What more could you ask for? Once and future is a retelling of the legend of King Arthur but with a twist. Ari is the 52nd reincarnation of Arthur and she is not at all what Merlin was prepared for. To be fair he also wasn’t really prepared for earth to have been abandoned and for humanity to live in space. With the shady Mercer corporation owning everything from planets to water. Honestly it is one of my favorite reads from last year and I can’t wait for the second one to come out! 10/10 would recommend. Hey do you like feelings? Do you like characters talking about feelings in various metaphors? Do enjoy assigning colors to feelings? Then “The Infinite noise” may be just up your ally. You got Caleb who is in *cough* year of high school when he suddenly develops the ability to feel other people’s emotions so strongly that they tend to block out his own. Caleb then finds out he is what is known by some as an Atypical. Then Caleb meets Adam, who’s feelings seem to fit very well with Caleb’s own emotions. This starts a rocky cautious friends into something more kinda of relationship. There is also a vague maybe evil background organization that does pretty shady things to Atypical’s, but they don’t play a super major roll in this book. So unless there is a second book I’m not really sure why they were even really mentioned. It was the only thing that kinda bothered me about this book. If had just been a cute boy meets boy with special powers fluffy kinda book I’d have been more then ok with it. Just the adding of the maybe evil organization just had a tacked on at the last minute kinda vibe to it.
