Sooo much of Jayce’s impulsive decision-making and emotional life makes sense if you understand that for him, Everything Is An Emergency.

He is so swamped by his emotions that everything registers as an emergency that requires an immediate fix, ideally within the next 30 minutes. He is so overwhelmed by other people’s emotions that it’s an emergency.

He wants to help and protect the people he loves so badly that he is completely overwhelmed and reckless and panicking, with the narrow range of vision panic brings.

He means so well but he is never, never calm inside.

My mental image of Jayce responding to anything is the shot of him racing down the hall with Viktor in his arms. I think everything feels like that to him, always.

I really like thinking about Viktor calming and grounding him. I love that it’s the first thing we see from the moment they meet—Jayce having an emotional emergency, Viktor drawing him back to earth.

The two best reasons to ship anything are:

1.Incredible deep and detailed narrative themes. The parallels that seem to hit just right, the narrative foils that they can be to each other, the intricate dynamic that's both extremely complex and easily understood. The juxtaposition between something that's harsh and undoubtedly toxic, with the softer undertones, the parts where you read in-between the lines and find a mutual feeling of loneliness from both parts, their intrinsic understanding of each other comes from the mere fact that they're each others mirrored reflections and shadows. In the end both sides will be together forever, and you as an audience can clearly see their tragedy laid out before in a path that blurs pure anguish and tender romance

2.It would be so fucking funny

Summary:

This story was hard-won for me, friends. I found out about the fairy tale big bang late and signed up on the last day, having to already have a concept when I really didn't. I ended up chucking my first and second goes at writing a story for this bang, attempting to drop out, and then being encouraged to continue. I had three weeks til the deadline and nothing was coming easy, but I finally dragged it out into the light and I'm surprisingly pleased with the result.
