If I desperately want to ship CarolJess from the panels I've seen, what should I read to really get into it?

I’ve gotten a few asks about this, so here it is. Sorry it’s taken me so long to get to it! Asterisks on the stuff I like best. I’m not gonna post download links cuz I’d be a bad consumer if I didn’t tell you to go to your store or buy digital. 

*AVENGERS ANNUAL (1967) #10 — Carol and Jess first meet after Carol has a devastating fight with Rogue. ( #rape & manipulation trigger warning because of mentions of her forced/brainwashed relationship with Marcus. It was a nasty storyline and this issue deals with Carol’s reaction after the Avengers mostly brush it off. It’s really worth it for the Carol/Jess stuff and for the criticism of that story, IMO.)

I don’t know anything between then and recent comics (though I don’t think there’s much— Carol joined the X-Men in space as Binary for a while). If anyone wants to help me fill in the blanks, shoot me a message.

It should be noted that in anything from this point that’s before Secret Invasion, Jess may actually be the Skrull Queen, Veranke. It’s arguable that her thoughts are still genuine as she has Jess’ memories, but, you know. 

Ms. Marvel vol 2 (2006) #1 — Cute lunch date. That’s all. 

Civil War: The Initiative Vol 1 (2007) #1 — They’re only in a short part of the book. If you’re familiar with Civil War, worth it. 

Secret Invasion (2009) #8 — Jess returns after Secret Invasion. It’s worth reading if you are familiar with the storyline (caroljess aside, i love Secret Invasion and I totally suggest reading it anyway).

*SPIDER-WOMAN vol 4 (2009 - 2010) #1-7 — It’s a Jess-centric story and Carol only shows up at the end of it, but it’s great. Good in depth look at Jessica & how she feels about herself and other heroes (also addresses her feelings post-secret invasion which is p cool). 

*She-Hulk: Sensational (2010) #1 — It’s a really cute She-Hulk book on it’s own, but the story Girl’s Night features Carol and Jess and Jen. 

The teams change a lot but there’s some pretty good CarolJess team stuff in New Avengers (iand Avengers vol 4. I’d have to back and re-read to tell you exactly who’s in what issue. I wouldn’t call either reading necessary except maybe for this panel from Avengers vol 4 (2011) #15

*Captain Marvel vol 7 (2012-2014) & The Enemy Within (2013) — Again, CarolJess aside, these are genuinely some of the best books Marvel is putting or has put out in years. Captain Marvel is in my top 3 favorite books of all time. You should be reading it anyway. Obligatory Carol reading, highly recommended CarolJess reading.
