One of my favourite examples when talking about how well Wilson and House know each other, is the episode where Wilson becomes convinced that House has a gun. The fact that Wilson even knows House has a gun in the first place shows how much they know each other. But in the episode, they both trick each other and Wilson breaks into House's apartment and House tries to stop Wilson, but eventually Wilson outsmarts him and ends up going through House's apartment and everything he owns, all while House is insistent that he does not own a gun.
And then, at the end, Wilson pulls up to House's office, brandishing the gun, going, "Ah ha! I knew it." And House rolls his eyes and tells Wilson it's fake and Wilson doesn't believe him, and House eventually hands him back the gun and tells him to shoot him. So Wilson is standing there holding a gun with House encouraging and trying to goad him into shooting him to prove that it's fake. Eventually, Wilson gives up and gives House back the gun and concedes. And then, at the end, it's revealed that the gun was real, and House's bluff was to try to get Wilson to shoot him with a loaded gun as a way to earn his trust.
This is such a good example because I feel like it wouldn't have worked the way it did with anyone else. House was betting his life on how well he knows Wilson, he was so sure that Wilson wouldn't risk shooting him even with a fake gun, that he handed him a loaded weapon and tried to convince Wilson to shoot him. He only did that because he knew Wilson wouldn't. Wilson, on the other hand, knows House well enough to know that he definitely had a gun, and there was always a chance that it was real even if House said it wasn't. He took the gun with that knowledge and refused to do what House was encouraging him to do. He knew House well enough to know that House knew him well enough that there's a chance he'd pull a bluff like this. And so Wilson didn't risk it. They know each other so well that House can hand a loaded gun to Wilson, convince him it's fake, tell Wilson to shoot him, and then be secure in the knowledge that he's not in danger because Wilson wouldnt do it.
I feel like 90% of the characters would've just shot him because they fell for it and wouldn't have believed House would pull something like that. And I don't think House would've pulled that with anyone but Wilson.

Where’s that text post that’s like “Wilson is kind, gentle death and House is rough, painful life” because first of all, GO OFF; second of all, I have more to add:
House is justice; Wilson is clemency.
House is harsh truth; Wilson is comforting lies.
House is abrasive idealism; Wilson is resigned realism.
House is spiky vulnerability; Wilson is velvet guardedness.
House is constructive cruelty; Wilson is destructive kindness.
House is focused passion; Wilson is diffuse romance.
House is a gleeful perpetrator; Wilson is a willing victim.
House is self-sabotage; Wilson is self-sacrifice.

house is this insanely intelligent universally respected doctor he’s also dark and miserable and mean he commits ungodly medical malpractice crimes and yet he has a Best Friend. that he regularly calls his Best Friend. my Best Friend wilson. imagine you’re dying in a hospital bed after this awful doctor has repeatedly fucked you over forced you into surgery given you drugs that have nearly killed you and then he goes hang on a second i can’t save your life right now my Best Friend is mad at me. i have to go make puppy dog eyes at him to get him back. that’s what’s really important here

funny thing about hate crimes md is i don't think the gay love story is at all intentional??? like they accidentally made hilson world ending soulmates who die tragically together. im sure the amber thing was just meant to be a funny parallel and the house/cuddy arc was probably supposed to be really romantic until it crashed and burned but all of those disparate plot points conceived by various writers when viewed in unison paint this incredibly romantic picture as house and wilson keep attempting and failing to hold down relationships with anyone but each other like whoops!! i made them soulmates ah shit and now they're riding off into the sunset no one draw conclusions

the range of things house and wilson could do for each other is outright crazy. literally from "i could open the door for you, cook for you or let you steal my lunch everyday" to "i'd lie to a cop for you without hesitation, risking my entire career or even my life. and also all my marriages went to shit because none of them could compete with the homosexual situationship i've been stuck with you for decades". or from "i'd let you crash my couch when your wives ditch you" to "i sacrificed my mind - the only thing i consider valuable in this whole defective body and soul, to save your happiness. i'd do everything you ask. i put an end to my life and my career and my everything just for 5 last months with you. i couldnt even be there sober for my ex gf when she had a tumor because i was afraid of losing her; i was afraid of losing you even more but you needed me so i watched you nearly die on my couch and i'd be there with you 'til your last breath, knowing fully well your death would destroy me completely and theres no way back anymore"

I really love Gregory house and hugh Laurie. I mean I love other characters as well like Eduardo Savrin and Andrew Garfield. But they are the same type of people that I identify with so I guess it’s somehow naccsitic which is not the case for Gregory house. It’s like he is a person I know in real life that I have interacted with. I can know for sure we are not alike and our mindsets are wired differently. But I still love the way he is. The way he is made. Although he probably won’t love this phrase.
Anyway there are so many things I love about him. Above all, he is a good doctor and he actually cares about his patients which for doctors is rare. He behaves on a logical base but somehow do it with fun and flair not just rigidly following the logic.
I also love him when he gets really sucked in a puzzle and ponder how it is the way it is. He suffiently gain joy from it and stick with it.
The thing I admire the most about him is that he never shy away from truth which if the truth is external it’s relatively easy but it’s really hard when it is internal. He can access that genuine and nevey lie to himself which is something.
My only regret is that I didn’t meet him sooner.

You say what you are
i think it's super interesting that house keeps making gay jokes abt taub and foreman bc they moved into together and taub is wearing his tie considering house and wilson moved in together and apparently shared underwear and socks

They are so for each other
no i genuinely think james wilson is insane and i will prove it right now. be amazed at my deductive reasoning.
in season two when wilson is temporarily staying with house as he looks for a new apartment, house ends up deleting a message from a realtor involving information regarding an available apartment wilson was interested in. we're led to believe that this is because house has realized that wilson staying with him means a cleaner environment and real food to eat, and he doesn't want to lose those perks.
but tbqfh i am almost positive that wilson did that on purpose. this man has his OWN phone, so why would he give out house's number for information that only pertains to him? he was 100% trying to gauge house's tolerance of him living there.
i mean, even in episode one it's explicitly stated that house shows affection through actions, rather than words. based on his actions, wilson knows that house cares about him, and also house likes to feel as though he is mischievous and one step ahead of everyone else at all times.
if house, for some reason (say, idk, delicious meals), changed his mind about wanting wilson to move out, would he really swallow his pride and ask wilson to stay? no he fucking would not. he could never admit that he actually is obsessed with wilson's cooking, because that is essentially saying that he's become dependent on something that someone who is NOT himself can provide.
so, instead of having a conversation like a sane person, wilson gave out house's number for information regarding his moving. This way, if house really wanted him to move out, he could shove the message in wilson's face. But, if not, he could start scheming like a cartoon villain for a devious little way to make sure wilson didn't have the opportunity. which is what happened.
wilson 100% orchestrated that entire interaction i am fucking positive

Is this character based on his real life or what?
i love the show avenue 5 and i feel like my mutuals are not talking about it when it seems like they really should be because hugh laurie plays a bisexual depressed alcoholic (fake)captain on an interstellar cruise ship set in some time in the future where polyamorous marriages are legal and in the first few episodes of the show he has a wife and a husband (although spoiler alert they do divorce him at some point but it’s not exactly a surprise) and also his character is british but has a fake american accent that he loses when he gets stressed out. and he gets stressed out a lot
