Making smart with their words again, well, I'm bored. Because I'm doing this for the thrill of it, killin' it, never not chasing a million things I want. And I am only as young as the minute is, full of it, getting pumped up from the little bright things I bought. But I know they'll never own me.

“It makes you feel less hot? I just feel sticky,” Carson said with a shrug. He chuckled and held out his arm. “That’s a good problem to have. I don’t tan or get freckles or anything, I just burn. Like fry. Like deep fry.”

Carson didn’t want to gang up on her or turn this into a big fight. He meant every word of what he said, he’d been a shitty friend and for all Taylor had done for him, she deserved better. Joey kept hinting about the video. Carson bit the inside of his cheek. Reluctantly, he pulled out his phone and opened up the video.
“There’s no good reason for it,” he said. It only took a moment of hesitation for hi to slide his phone across the table. “Um... Somebody sent me this. And we realized how shitty and self-absorbed we’ve been acting. So we wanted to talk to you about what the hell prompted this.”

“Dude, it’s California. It’s sweltering every day,” Carson said, kind of chuckling at Joey’s exasperation. Freshman year, he’d passed out in the middle of an un-airconditioned class. Kids from Wisconsin are not used to this kind of heat. “Besides, a little sweat’s good for you. I think.”
“I can’t even with the weather right now. It’s like so hot. I’m actually sweating. SWEATING! This is beyond tragic.”

Carson really didn’t want to wake Wyatt, but his RA certainly did. Or, at least, he didn’t care enough to keep his voice down. Carson slowly extracted his arm from underneath his boyfriend’s sleepy figure and carefully got off the bed. But as soon as his feet hit the floor, he was gone at full force. He backed his RA into the hallway, ignoring all his little digs and dirty looks toward Wyatt.
“I’m just saying-”
“You don’t get to ‘just say,’ fuckwad,” Carson whispered with a scowl. “They let him go. They decided it wasn’t him. He’s still a student and he’s allowed a minute to fucking relax, alright? So get out of my room and stay out. Stop checking on us every fucking minute, okay?” Reluctantly, the guy started to step away. “Good. Thank you.” Next time, he wouldn’t hesitate to punch him. This happened so often now- He turned to go back inside to find Wyatt sitting up, watching him. “I was trying not to wake you up.”

“Hey,” Carson said when Taylor came over, trying for a smile. Maybe he got there. He wasnt planning on worrying about it. “Yeah, everything’s fine, but, um... We wanted to talk to you about... You.”
He glanced momentarily at Joey and then continued, feeling ever so slightly more confident. “We haven’t been good friends lately. Really shitty ones, actually. And you’ve been so good to us for so long... We just wanted to check in with you.” And ask you about some vandalism you might’ve done.
Joey wasn’t sure how he he was supposed to confront Taylor about the video footage. It wasn’t the first time that incriminating footage had gotten in the way of their friendship. He was definitely hurt by her decision to vandalize the theater department but given that he thought that it was about him, he figured that she was hurting a lot more. If anything, he just felt bad for everyone else involved in the project because he felt like they were the true victims. He knew Leia probably would have wanted him to tell her who had done it but he couldn’t expose Taylor like that. She was still one of his his best friends even though he had made a mess of their relationship.
Meeting up with Carson didn’t help settle his nerves. Despite their close relationship to Taylor, they barely knew each other. He couldn’t look at him without thinking about Wyatt’s arrest either. He may have been released, but there was a part of Joey that wondered why he had been arrested in the first place. Joey had to put his concerns aside so that he could focus on Taylor, though. Besides, Carson had agreed to help him figure out who had sent the picture of him and Avery.
Wearing one of Avery’s hoodies, he wondered if it was inappropriate to see Taylor in it. Then again he knew he was just being paranoid and that she probably wouldn’t recognize it anyway. Joey sighed heavily as he came across Carson, the back of his hand landing on his forehead as he spoke, “Oh, my god. I’m like so nervous.” He hadn’t talked to Taylor since he fell asleep in class so they definitely had a lot to catch up on but he didn’t expect this would be the reason they had to talk again.

Carson stood up when he saw Joey coming, feeling like it was somehow the right thing to do. He suddenly got this horrible feeling like they were planning an intervention. He’d been on the receiving end before and it was not fun.
He rubbed the back of his neck nervously. He couldn’t begin to describe his anticipations. She might be pissed. She might deny it. She might feel like they were ganging up on her. They had to make it clear they were just worried.
He hadn’t been a good friend recently. “Yeah... I didn’t sleep great last night.” He trailed off when he saw Taylor coming and nodded to Joey. “Let’s sit.”

Carson: alright then
Carson: I’ll text u tomorrow
Joey: Have you talked to her?
Joey: Maybe I should come with you. It’s kind of my fault. So I shouldn’t make you deal with it. It’s not fair.
