‏The Holy Qur’an calls for mercy towards captives and feeding them, as it says: ‏“And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive.”

‏Similarly, in the Epistle of Paul the Apostle to the Romans, this principle was expressed practically: ‏“If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink… ‏Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” ‏— (Romans 12:20–21)
