So I see a lot of truly heartbreaking head canon and fic, where Sam kept the fake voice-mail from Dean saved on his phone, all this time, to remind himself of his mistakes. And it hurts.

But what by some miracle he managed to keep TWO voice mails saved all this time, after everything. And the other one was the message from Jess in the Pilot, telling him she loves him and to come home soon. Which may or may not have been the last time he heard her voice.

And at first he couldn’t bear to listen to it but he couldn’t bring himself to get rid of it. But as time passed, sometimes he’d find himself playing it, listening to the last thing he has left if the woman he was going to marry, listening to her saying “I love you”, when she may have been the first and only person to ever say it to him.

Memories fade and are idealized, pictures are lost, the one photo he has left of her creased and worn with love, a war veteran in its own right, but it could never capture who Jess was. But this- this tiny snapshot of her voice- just a moment in time, it’s the realest thing he has left of her, and he thanks whatever is out there every day that he has managed to preserve it for so long.

I actually drew this one first and wasn't planning on anything more but then Sam piece just happened lol.

I've had this idea for a while and when I decided to participate in this bang i was like hell yeah this fits let's use it. I drew this back in, i think, november or december?? If i did it now i would probably draw it slightly different, just fascinating lol

I chose Sam and Rowena because I adore their complicated friendship. Watching their relationship develop was one of the highlights of late seasons for me.
