@fleetwood-will ‘s post about Dustin randomly telling a skater to wear a helmet (check it out) made the gears in my brain twist and turn. Specifically because the scene makes it seem like Dustin is still talking to Mike.

With the skater passing by Dustin on the screen, we can easily infer that that’s who Dustin addresses with his call. However, not only did they incorporate said call into Dustin’s conversation with Mike — a conversation that mainly consists of Mike begging Dustin to “tell him things” — even Mike thinks Dustin is talking to him:

Mike:“What are you talking about?”

Well, what is Dustin talking about?

The helmet is obviously a protection for the head, but sometimes also one for the mind. Think of not only all the X-Men references in Stranger Things (there are a lot), but also the fact that Magneto wears a helmet for the very purpose of blocking telepathic intrusion.

How can this be anything but foreshadowing? Dustin is basically telling Mike to protect his mind from being manipulated, and there’s some X-Men lore I’ve found that potentially aligns with this interpretation:

I admit, I’m not particularly familiar with X-Men lore in general, so I wouldn’t know if anything on these sites is inaccurate. I do know, however, that there are some X-Men specialists here, so if the information contains any flaws, I’d appreciate correction.

i didn’t say it. you didn’t have to. mike understanding what will is truly thinking without him saying it directly…. the painting lie…. but also mike realizing a truth about himself (a self pitying idiot) bc of what will said without directly saying it….. sooo mike realizing he’s gay through realizing will’s painting confession was romantic HUFHUFHFGGFHFG

adding onto the "interactions i need to see in s5" list, i would really adore it if we had some sort of conversation between el and nancy that could serve as a sense of closure to their character arcs which are practically inverted images of each other:

el, who never had the chance to experience her girlhood in a traditional sense, looking into nancy's picture when she is first brought to mike's house, borrowing nancy's dress and putting on her makeup---becoming what society views as "girly." watching soap operas and wanting to be the girl she sees on the tv screen, feminine and dainty with a man who is head over heels in love with her. having no female friends or role models until max to tell her that her life isn't only in the hands of the men around her. valuing herself, even then, on how she is valued by the men in her life because, in the lab, that was all she was conditioned to do. clinging desperately to her title as mike's girlfriend because, with hopper (the other sole male figure she depends on) no longer in her life, she does not know who she will be without it.

nancy, who has lived her entire life as the girl in the picture, prim and proper, suburban and all-american---innocent and well-educated but able to be quiet like a good girl should. being rid of her innocence, her picture-perfect girlhood in two ways at once. losing both her virginity and her best friend at the same time. becoming "nancy 'the slut' wheeler" and watching the way her mom has been subdued and pushed into becoming the perfect housewife and listening to the men she works for laugh and jeer at her for being a woman. realizing that she can never let herself prove them right, never turn into the timid, dainty, silent woman that the world wants her to be, never become known, valued only as some man's wife.

does anyone else have a kind of ridiculous plan for watching s5? like i’ve always planned to force my parents of the house so i have it to myself to scream and cry to my hearts content and if they’re not able to then i’m literally going to a hotel. and i’ll have to scream into pillows instead but either way it’s gonna be a wholeeee event yall should put in the tags put ur plans for watching it i’m so curious
