Marvel MCU movie (or is it tv series who cares) Secret Invasion uses AI for their intro trailer
That is the movie senior concept artist speaking up against it
The artists who worked on the movie have nothing to do with this
The intro trailer is outsourced to a different studio because the director Ali Selim think it's a cool thing to try and claim to know nothing about AI
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ScreenRant of course missing the whole point and claim that the trailer is clever because it's like the skrulls disguising themselves as the real people just like AI disguising themselves as real art
Update: ScreenRant has since edited their title to remove the word "Clever"

This kinda thing doesn't just happen in the US
Korean game company Rayark let go some of their artists for AI to mix real art with AI
Indonesian movie production Falcon Pictures uses AI to create their movie posters also for a movie based on a Line Webtoon
Search on my blog for details on those two cases

CUTiE 107, 7.7.97. That's a lot of lucky 7's and that's also PUFFY selling Yamaha Vino scooters on the back cover. You will not find a more 90s artifact of the 1990s.

It's on.
My regular Halloween hotel opened its September bookings this morning and I've got 2 nights September 10/11 and 3 nights September 23/24/25. I'll wait to buy my Universal Studios Japan passes for a little while longer.
The important thing is I have a place to stay that's about a 10-minute walk to the park. I would live there all September and October if I could and even if I didn't plan to go into the park I'd hang out near the gates every single day or spend time at City Walk.
Three months to go before the first visit and we don't even know USJ's event plans yet but now my entire being is bent towards Halloween. It's now the most important thing in the world to me.

Universal Studios Japan announced this week they’re closing The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man ride. The last day will be January 22, 2024. This makes me a little blue because I’ve had so many fun experiences with that attraction down through the years. But I suppose with Disney owning the rights to Spidey it became inevitable. What surprised me, though, is their decision not to reopen Terminator 2: 3D and Backdraft. The park suspended those attractions because of COVID-19 but I believed they’d eventually open them again.
Rumor has it something Pokemon related will take over the Spider-Man spot but I wonder what they can do with those other two buildings. If I had to speculate wildly with the popularity of their Sailor Moon 4D special events something with those characters adapting the material they’ve already bought and paid for would slot nicely into the Cyberdyne Systems building. They currently use the Backdraft firehouse as the Killer Cutie zombies home base during Halloween Horror Nights. It’s a much smaller venue so I have no idea what they could do with that one.
Well. Changes aren’t permanent but change is as Geddy Lee of Rush sang. It’s good to refresh the park every so often. As for me I’m going to ride Spider-Man as many times as possible come this Halloween season as a way of saying so long to an old friend.
And please enjoy these photos I’ve snapped there over the years. The first one is from 2014 and the most recents are from 2019 and 2022. Plus Cyberdyne.

This is a room in what’s known as a “business hotel” in Japan. They’re small, usually clean and cozy, rooms that provide an affordable alternative to travelers as opposed to staying at a hostel or a more upscale type hotel. For me a hostel is more for outgoing types and for keeping your spending on accommodations to a minimum. Just staying at one is probably fun for travelers who enjoy those things. I don’t like spending unless I’m in an indulgent, luxurious mood but when I stay overnight somewhere I want more private time and my own space. I’m adventurous in my own way but I”m not really a backpacker type of person. So I usually spend just a bit more and get myself one of these. This one was just 6600 yen a night. That’s about 48 USD. Which is ridiculously cheap by Tokyo standards. Whatever your travel style you can bet someone will provide it there in Tokyo. It’s just when you choose a business hotel don’t expect spaciousness. You’ll be a bit cramped if you’re used to spreading out in a Holiday Inn or something like that in the US. You can find bigger rooms but at higher prices. This is just what I like.
