The 35th edition of #FIMPAH (Festival International de Mode, de Photographie et d’Accessoires d’Hyères) was supposed to be held -as always- at the end of April at the #VillaNoailles and elsewhere in #Hyères. Unfortunately, due to the #corona #virus #outbreak, the #festival is now delayed until October after the Paris Fashion Week shows. If life is more or less back to some kind of normality then… In the meantime, Catwalkpictures (who’s a long time partner and official photographer) will keep you busy with some souvenirs of last year edition like this picture of #ChristophRumpf from #Austria who won the Grand Prix in 2019. With the help of #PremiereVision and mes #MétiersDArt of #Chanel, the laureate is invited to present a completely new collection during the following edition. In a very casual and subtle way as usual for her. On their memorable album, you’ll find some jewels of #chanson française composed for her by her ex-partner #SergeGainsbourg like « Les dessous chics », « Norma Jean Baker » or « Fuir le bonheur de peur qu’il ne se sauve » a.o. She will soon be performing two dates on her « Gainsbourg Symphonie » tour in #Belgium on the 20th of February t the #CirqueRoyal in #Brussels and on the 21st at the Théâtre Royal of #Mons. It’s never an easy task to dig in the archives when someone you knew quite well and appreciated disappears suddenly. The career of belgian singer and songwriter #MarcMorgan is very difficult to summarize as it escapes here and there discovering new musical boundaries and other interests. From Les Révérends du Prince Albert to Les #Tricheurs, his four albums under his own name and numerous collaborations with #BenjaminSchoos and Freaksville Records. I even found an article I wrote about him in the belgian daily « La Libre Belgique » in november 1993 when his first solo album « Un cygne sur l’Orénoque » was published by FNAC Music. Here’s an extract (in french) of what I wrote then : « Marc Morgan traverse le microcosme musical avec l’assurance des artistes intemporels. Il continue imperturbablement à dispenser son savoir aux étudiants de l’ERG”. Dans les ateliers aux murs nus, certains étudiants connaissent la double vie d’un prof pas comme les autres. Si Marc Mathieu habite toujours du côté de Huy et prend régulièrement sa voiture pour venir hanter les environs de la place du Châtelain, son alter-ego Marc Morgan a préféré le chemin de l’exil parisien. “Ce serait totalement impossible de m’installer ailleurs” confie Marc Mathieu. “L’idée ne m’a jamais effleuré. Pendant l’enregistrement de cet album, toutes les raisons de lâcher prise et de m’exiler étaient réunies mais je n’ai pas craqué. Quand on veut chanter, la logique te souffle rapidement de laisser tomber. De mon côté, j’ai voulu passer le cap de la trentaine sans remiser ma guitare à la cave car je n’arrive pas à me satisfaire d’une vie pépère. Pourtant je l’invoque parfois et je me dit que tout serait plus simple si j’étais chef de gare à Huy-Nord. Mais, dès que j’en aurais compris les limites, je deviendrai complètement dingue. C’est pour éviter ce piège que j’apprécie aussi le métier d’enseignement. On peut toujours élargir le cadre dans lequel on travaille. Pour revenir à la musique, la plus grande victoire est que ce disque existe tel que je le rêvais“. Marc Morgan sadly passed away yesterday 10th of January.
