Welcome Home… Cayden Darrow
Fourty-five • He/Him • Police Chief • Native
Characteristics:
✔ Positive Traits: Intelligent, Cunning, Perceptive, Funny, Caring
✘ Negative Traits: Secretive, Proud, Standoffish, Suspicious,Negative
His History:
Born to Carter and Angela Darrow, the first of two boys, Cayden was raised in Raider’s Cove, fully aware of it’s long history. As a kid, growing up to working class parents, there wasn’t much for him to do in his spare time. His father was a simple builder, working for a small city firm, his mother was an elementary school teacher. Very early on Cayden found he was good at fighting, he was hefty, but all muscle, had discipline and could motivate himself all the time.
For a small period of time in his teens and early twenties, Cayden was a pro boxer with his younger brother Zack helping to train him. The two were best friends, thick as thieves and more, but there was something about Zack, his ability to process things quick that was always beyond Cayden. Eventually though Zack met a woman, Christine, and Cayden fractured his hip in the ring. It was the end of their run, without Cayden ever being able to build up to heavyweight champ.
In the years following his injury, Cayden moved back to Raider’s Cove to care for his ailing parents, when they passed, the house was left to him and he joined the police. Now, having been there for ten years he’s the chief, and in his spare time training boxers. He sees Zack from time to time, but him, Christine and their kids are in Boston, which means he doesn’t see him as often as he’d like. But he talks to them on the phone, and that’s enough for him.
Perspective of Raider’s Cove:
While he’s a native, Cayden’s opinion is that the place is a little old fashioned, and could do with coming into the twenty first century a little bit.
Current Residence:
Cayden lives in his parents old home, a small three bedroom place just outside the town. One of the rooms has been turned into a small gym, and the kitchen is hardly used.
Potential Development:
I’d like to see Cayden start training a girl, something he’s never done before, and start up a father-daughter sort of deal, also crime plots would be welcome, and romance, always romance.

Cayden enjoyed his days off, there were a needed rest from the long hours of being the chief of police. He stood in a vest and a pair of shorts lifting weights, working through frustrations. “Oh, hothead.” He said, looking over at Kurt for a second. “I never thought I’d see you in a chain gym.” He puts the weights down, shaking Kurt’s hand. “What are you doing in here?” Cayden wasn’t someone who had to hide from his problems, they went away and came back more than a wayward child, so he felt no real pressure when it came to his work life, but in his personal one, he always felt pressure.

Kurt reached in the back of his truck for his gym bag and foam roller. He usually wasn’t one for public gyms, having most of the necessary equipment for his workouts in the gym on his property, but the idea of working out alone this morning was not only strikingly lonely, but also maddening. Years of supervised workouts with a team of trainers and several other football players and he felt that he had begun to go insane working out alone for so long. So instead, he decided to drive to nearby Trenton, which had the gym that Raider’s lacked. Kurt pulled the door open, revealing a shiny, new facility with many impressive machines that he was absolutely not expecting. After paying for a two hour session and stowing his bag, Kurt began his 35 minute warm up, utilizing his roller to work most of the muscles in his body. It was something most people were unfamiliar with, hence the stares he got for rolling around on the floor with what looked like a short pool noodle, but also because no one was expecting to see him at a chain fitness facility in Trenton. Next came ladder drills and then yoga stretching. Half way through his stretches, he was interrupted by a familiar voice coming from behind him. “What’s up old man?”

“A little bit, yeah.”
“Good- am I early?” She asked, as she was the only one in the room. That’s weird, she’s almost never early. Late, sure, but early? Almost not a chance.

“Doesn’t one usually lead to another?”
“Either a stiff drink or a one-night stand.”

“Not that I’ve ever encountered, though I know some people slip in other languages when they’re drunk.”
“Of course, thank you.” Diego said with a nod. “Does that happen often here? I never pegged Maine for a place of many non-english speakers.”

“Write out exactly what she said in Spanish, and then underneath, translate it as accurately as possible and just put an note saying she didn’t speak English.”
“Thank you sir, I just needed to know I did an incident report today and the woman spoke no english. I got all the information, but in the official report should I quote her in spanish or english?”

“Um, yeah, is this self defense class?” She remarked, her Russian accent slipping away.
