ENTRY PROJECT:

This is my short film project within the 'smoke and mirrors' theme. I created a short film about a girl who finds plants growing from a hole by her radiotor. Bored of doing every day tasks around her house, her curiosity wins and she investigates the plants, only to discover that within her house there is a magical hole to a secret garden, perhaps another world, but thats a story for another day.

My work was inspired by the idea of finding magic in the mundane. Work that explores this theme is Coraline, Alice in Wonderland and the books, the spider wick cronicles, those were some texts that inspired the story.

The washed out and pastel colours are inspired by one of my favourite visual films, which is called I believe in unicorns, the film blends in a lot of animation and imagined scenes away from the storyline which add in a lot of creativity.

I was also inspired by Spike Jonze's film 'Being John Malkovich' for the scene where he enters a tunnel, as I love this transition being worlds being set in such an ordinary environment.

I also scored this film using Ableton.

Digital reworks of the last photos, taking away from the origional theme and thinking soley about the visual aesthetic, using photos from holiday to blend together different worlds to create a new result. Inspired by the visual work of Gregg Araki's films, bold and confusing.

Some photos I collaborated on with my friend. She is taking the photos and I am coming up with modelling ideas, using a scarf to create interesting compositions, a long with different poses. We went out at night and were inspired by the idea of being afraid of both the superantural possibilities of being out late alone at night and also the evil that humans do, and how the two merge. This is a concept I have always thought about and was inspired to create work about, a similar theme is explored in David Lynches 'Twin Peaks' which I felt was a good reference.

Extracts from a story i wrote called 'sleep and memories', about a person who manages to spend their whole summer inside a dream, and how they cross between that world and reality, these photos are inspired by a concept in the story where the character, within a delirous state creates a series of summer polaroids which mainly consist of blurry photos of their town at night, including the nature they walk through.

The red and black photos are part of a project I created with my friend who dresses in a very gothic style and I would always joke about her being a vampire. We created the photo shoot around the idea of what it would be like if a vampire was a teenage girl, what makeup and skin products they would use, and designed to create a campaign of advert shots that were specifically targeted at 'vampire friendly' products. The other photo is of my friend where we trying to get candid shots of her and pretending she was a famous musician part of a rock band. The photos were inspired by the work of Matt Anker who shot a lot of Sonic Youth's photos.

Customising my clothes with bleach, I love that you can never tell what the outcome will be in terms of the colour and sometimes you will end up spilling bleech, as I did, however the result is always different every time you use bleech which is what I love about the process, futhermore being able to wear out your own designs. Some of the line and face drawings are inspired by an artist called Barbara Kroll who inspired my work in textiles in school and has continued to be an inspiration.

These are some pages from my sketchbook. A lot of my sketches are inspired by creatures I see in my mind and trying to understand what they are and what they mean. I also like to draw from phots, or create characters, sometimes I just like drawing patterns or whatever comes to mind.

Took these at a party, i wanted to capture the kinds of stuff people wear and honestly just how big the crowd was, i didn't like this one, we travelled really far down south and it was very unfamilar, i ended up editing the pictures so you cant really tell what was going on because i felt confused about the whole night, why i wasnt enjoying myself and that kind of thing, these photos make you wonder whats going on.

My Track Petra, which is going to be the name of the EP when it is ready. Petra is about being at a party at about four or five in the morning when no one is talking and the whole dance floor is full. The lights are blinding and you're head is rushing, everyone's confused and a little scared of where the nights going. Only in the moment, are you aware of the fact this is the time you won't remember.

There's also something really eerie about this track which came from the fact I wrote it to score to something I was writing that had some themes of horror in.

I aim to create a music video for this song as I think it has strong visual presence.
