Another installment in the Guitar Strings and Keyrings AU! Going Nowhere is so good i'm gonna cry/pos techno following them around being an angsty teen glaring at them the whole time like "dad why would you let not one but two of these kids into our home" and wil being like "oh my god he's gonna kill us" is both funny and depressing i might sob. AND THEN TOMMY?? I love having the contrast of wil being on alert and he's just like "wtf is your problem??" this is word vomit but i hope it made sense

Aww thank you so much!! I always have a little moment of panic when I post in case I've left it too long and people have moved on but it genuinely is the best feeling in the world reading your ask and seeing all the guitar strings and keyrings love!!! Techno is terrifying and doesn't know it but it sends Wilbur into protective big brother panic mode while Tommy can't decide if he wants to help/cause problems in typical little brother fashion XD

I just finished reading Guitar Strings and Keyrings and WOW!! It's such a beautiful fic, I can't wait to read the accompanying fics :D I'll try to leave a long comment but if I can't get all my thoughts out there I just want to say that that was one of the best foster fics I've ever read and the way you wrote the characters and their growth felt so genuine and beautiful! Lovely fic :]

The sbi foster au is one of my absolute favourites and I really wanted to make something that played with some of the tropes in a really fun (but sometimes angsty XD) way, so I'm honestly so happy to hear that you not only took the time to read it but that it's also one of your favourites!! :D

Hello!! It's the end of the year so I'm gonna get emotional with you all for a minute XD. I posted Guitar Strings anonymously earlier this year. I had read so many sbi foster aus and had to isolate around Christmas 2020, while on my own I had an idea that I couldn't get rid of so in that time I got to work writing my own fic! I didn't finish and post it until march and to be honest, I just planned on uploading it and then forgetting about it but I had no idea how many people would read it and then actually want more of my work?!?! Like that is by far the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me and it's because of you guys that this Tumblr exists and here I am still writing fics!!

Thank you all so much for your really sweet asks, comments on ao3, follows, reblogs and honestly just taking the time to go out of your way and read my work! It really does make me so unbelievably happy and I can't thank you all enough for being the best part of my 2021 :D

Going into 2022 I'm dropping the next part of my dsmp pirate fic and the first chapter of a new sbi royalty au that's been sitting in my drafts for ages, so hope you enjoy and thank you again - your support really does mean the world to me and hoping you all have a great end to the year!!!

I might be a little bias here but I absolutely love when authors use song lyrics in titles/chapter names/the main story and stuff!

When I write, I usually have a few songs I listen to that remind me of the fic and it's so cool to see what sort of music other writers listen to and represent their work with!

Bonus points if it's angst (I can't listen to Passerine anymore without thinking of blujamas' fic and getting emotional XD /pos)

Of course tho, it's completely up to you!! There's no pressure to change anything (your writing is already so good as is) but if you want to then I'd say go for it!! :D

Thank you so much, I'm super happy you enjoyed it!! I've actually been thinking a little about what sort of nightmares Techno would have cuz of the oneshot I'll get round to writing at some point! I think I'll probably go with one of these:

- His time before Phil + some of his previous foster families that didn't go quite so well

- Not being able to get to Wilbur and Tommy in time when they need help

- Losing his family

- Feelings of guilt due to how he treated Wilbur and Tommy when they first came to stay

hi!!! i was wondering if you had any headcanons of guitar strings that you never got mention for whatever reason in the main story and side fics?

Sure!! There's actually loads of stuff that I had in my head when writing but never included since it wasn't exactly relevant to the plot so here's a little list (some of it is headcanons for the events of the fic and some of them take place afterwards!):

- Wilbur dyes Techno's hair pink in the og ending but I ended up cutting it cuz it felt rushed (it will definitely be in the epilogue tho when I get round to writing it!)

- Tubbo eventually does manage to drag Tommy along to his chess club. Tommy manages to do everything except learn how to play chess so Tubbo eventually gives up asking him but Tommy still drops by to hang out whenever its on

- Tommy and Tubbo insist on including Ranboo in everything they do, so he's almost always round Phil's house after school (Techno and Wilbur usually get pulled into whatever they're up to as well)

- I always thought Wilbur would get really into the drama club and the debate club after the events of the main fic

- Phil used to be awful at cooking before he got into fostering kids but put loads of time and practice into learning and grew to love it and really improved. In fact, when he first started looking after Techno, encouraging Techno to help him out with recipes was one of the major ways they they learnt how to trust each other and communicate!

This one's kind of a bonus cuz it's not exactly a headcanon but a little bit of a fact about guitar strings:

- The whole thing started with Wilbur and Techno being twins and getting fostered by Phil! Back when I was first writing this fic I didn't really know where I wanted it to go, all I knew was that I wanted a very hurt/comfort found family sbi foster fic and that was it XD

Techno felt much more like Wilbur in the main fic and took a more protective role and Wilbur was a more inquisitive but shy kind of character and the premise would have been them working together to look out for each other and learning to trust and stuff!

It all fell apart very quickly when I couldn't actually think of a plot and how to incorporate Tommy in a way that felt 'new' so I scrapped it and started again but yeah this fic could have gone in a very different direction :D
