I don't believe it, I saw that you opened commissions, I filled out everything necessary to order mine, and when I clicked on "pay" ko-fi crashed or something like that, and kept loading for more than five minutes, until I I gave up and decided to try again. I did it again and it crashed AGAIN. And when I tried again there were no more free slots. I've spent the last two weeks checking your blog every day to secure a slot, I'm literally crying that I didn't get it (thanks for nothing, ko-fi). 😭

I'm so, so incredibly sorry that happened! 🫂

If anyone else has any issues like this with Ko-fi please let me know! I would like to know beforehand if Ko-fi has too many issues like this for others and if I need to reassess using it for commissions going forward.

That being said, I'm going to do my best to work through the current commissions and be able to open more slots so that you and others have more chances to snag a place!

February/March was rough in terms of commission times because of so many other obligations and things that popped up suddenly, but with all of those finally out of the way, I'm hoping to be able to stagger commission batches and take on more slots over the coming weeks so that there's no month-long wait like before between open slots 🫶 (At least until May, then I do actually need to put a pause on them for a bit while I go traveling!)

I'm definitely still planning on revisiting and continuing Reprieve! Drawing in a multi-chapter comic format is just such a new and interesting challenge and it's really made me rethink how I approach my art; I absolutely still find the work to be fulfilling and fun to take on 🥰

I just didn't quite anticipate the current turn some things in my life took and it's been a bit overwhelming to have them pile up and hit at the same time 😅

It's been quite an exercise in juggling everything, but I'm hoping to be able to fit in time in between family events/visits, work, and commissions for at least one more chapter drop (???) before a massive trip I have coming up in May, as that will probably drain a lot of my energy by the time I come back lol 👀🙏

I have a BA degree in medical/scientific illustration and for my senior thesis I had researched, illustrated, and designed a website focused on providing accurate information on proper pet care for hermit crabs 🐚

My mind went to this ^ for my first fact because (in following the same line of "my unending love of small pets that also unfortunately have too much misinformation spread around about their care") I'm in the process of getting ready to get a hamster! Currently I'm working on gathering supplies and putting together a large enclosure to adopt my very first hamster from a local ethical breeder 🐹 New lil baby should be joining our family hopefully sometime in May or June 🥰

Before then though, my partner and I are also currently in the process of planning out our first trip to Japan which will be in about a month and a half from now! I've never traveled internationally except to visit family in Taiwan and China so I'm both very excited and very nervous lol 😬🤗

Hello! I hope you don’t mind me asking, but what brush do you use to create your digital artwork?

Hi! No, of course I don't mind at all 🥰

Here's the breakdown of my most used brushes:

Honestly 95% of my work really is just the "Pencil Grad" brush for sketching, my modified "6B Pencil" for lineart, and the "Soft Brush Texture" and "Gouache" brushes for everything else!

The "Jingsketch" brushes are part of a pack that I had purchased from [here on gumroad!]

For the life of me, I cannot remember where I got the "Pencil Grad" brush from, but the "Angled Sketching Pencil" from the Jingsketch brush pack is super similar in how it behaves!

As for the modifications I made to the default Procreate 6B Pencil to make it more suitable for my tastes for lineart, I really only just slightly increased the streamlining and stabilization, removed some of the pressure-sensitive opacity behavior, and increased the brush flow! Basically, I wanted it to be just the tiniest bit more sensitive, smooth, and opaque but still retain some of that sketchier/gritty quality 🤌

Lastly, these aren't brushes, however I feel like they've become very integral to the "look" of my art because I just looooove the last step of adding one of these to finish off a piece– but I use the paper textures from JessicaElena [here on Etsy] over my whole artwork, set to "overlay" and it just adds that grainier, cozy paper look that I just adore 🥰

I admit February was really hard for a variety of reasons, but I have my partner to thank for pulling me through because he very heavily advocated for me to just to step back for a bit, get offline, and to give myself a small daily period of rest/distraction by chipping away at our backlog of shows we've been meaning to watch 😂

As a result I've spent the last month effectively sobbing over My Hero Academia lolll 🫣 On top of that, I've been trying to fit in some of my other hobbies like journaling and tarot into my daily routines again~

Mixing in some new fictional blorbos and spreading out my attention to other activities that have been known to ~spark joy~ for me in the past has really helped to alleviate the difficulties that popped up from the last couple of months! 🥰 and as an added bonus, it shuts up my brain for a few blissful hours everyday lmao 💗
