Camping Trip at Mt. Kibalabag
Hello guys,
I know its been a very long hiatus for me to start blogging again in this precious website. I’ve shared a lot of memories here and I’m glad that through the years this website has been always there. So just like the old times, I’ll be sharing one of my recent activities despite the pandemic.
Last month, the hospital where i was moonlighting/currently working planned a camping trip to one of Bukidnon’s Mountains. Fortunately, the owner of the hospital owned a rest house on the area where we could stay overnight. After a week of planning what to bring, where to go and etc, the trip finally took off.
We were headed to Mount Kibalabag at Barangay Kibalabag, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. https://goo.gl/maps/Y57GKPhp1nakZmDP7
We rode a van from Valencia to Malaybalay for 30mins, then another 30mins from Malaybalay to another Barangay (I forgot the name). We were about to cross a river with our van, unfortunately the heavy rain last night made it impossible for the van to cross since the water is knee deep. Our plan B was to rent “habal-habal” or motorcycles to the place where we’ll stay. So one by one we were picked up by motorcycle drivers and they drove us to a magnificent view of Kibalabag. Kibalabag is covered with mountains and it was so surreal that it felt like I was in New Zealand.
Arriving at the place, we then settled our tents and arranged our things. We then also proceeded to preparing our dinner.
After dinner we had small chit chats and decided to sleep early since we’ll be waking up at 5am to start our adventure.
The next morning we prepared corned beef, scrambled eggs and dried fish to complete our pinoy style breakfast.
This is me and my sister preparing for the hiking and the gang having some groupfie in the middle of our hiking.
The following pictures are snapshots of our adventures...
Swam into the famous Kibalabag waterfalls. Such a refreshing experience!
And then we hiked a further more to see the magnificent view of the mountains
Last stop was the BIG ROCK!
To see more of our camping trip check this video: https://youtu.be/40yCvtiFBZ0
PS: Safety protocols were followed prior to this trip, we made sure everyone was in good condition/health. Secured our medical certificated just in case checkpoints need them. And we all wore our mask and sanitize our hands at all times.

I like the sea: we understand one another. It is always yearning, sighing for something it cannot have; and so am I.

COVID 19 and Quarantine happened. This will last for a long while
soon: comfy sweaters, hot beverages in cups, leaves crunching under your feet, drops of rain against the window, reading your book in bed

Tu feras de grandes choses • You will do great things • /ty fə.ʁa də ɡʁɑ̃d ʃoz/
Today is international women’s day. As you may know, we were thrilled to welcome a daughter in our family a few months ago. Ever since she was born, we’ve been questioning a lot of things and especially how we want to raise her to become an amazing woman in this rough and not very gender-balanced world of ours.
We will tell her that she can become whoever she wants, do whatever she wants. That there are no boundaries and most importantly, no boundary related to her gender. Maybe sometimes she’ll have to fight harder and we’ll be there for her. Always.
What do you tell your kids?

If you’re thinking about studying medicine, read this.
Remember that it’s hard for everyone and no one woke up one day knowing it all.
Don’t compare yourself to others : you don’t know what’s behind that girl who spends hours at the library, or that guy that claims he knows everything by heart. Do your thing and have faith.
It’s not because you’ve “studied” for 6 hours straight that you’ve actually been productive. Quality over quantity, always (I still tend to forget about this sometimes)
Don’t ditch physics and chemistry. Also, don’t ditch any important textbook chapter to save you time! You’ll thank me later.
Please take care of your mental health. Take your medication if you need some, and look for help if you’re feeling stuck.
Try to stay healthy and to keep moving, it actually helps a lot.
DRINK. YOUR. WATER.
Find YOUR study method. It’s not because everyone else is studying something in a certain way that it’ll work for you.
Don’t lose too much time on useless details. Focus on key concepts instead.
Nothing is ever like it seems and nothing is ever like you imagined.
Stress is only bad if you see it that way. You can’t avoid stress but you can see it in a positive way instead. Whenever you’re feeling anxious just close your eyes and take a deep breath and think about something that makes you happy. This could be anything : your cat, your family, a warm cup of tea… just imagine something that will put a smile on your face. You’ll feel relieved.
Have faith that the Universe has a plan for you. Accept fear and embrace it with love. You’re allowed to expect miracles.
Sleep is SO IMPORTANT : make sure you sleep at least 7 hours every night! Sleep is actually the best way to memorize what you’ve learned in a day.
Delete social media from your phone if it’s bothering/distracting you. Also, remember that ¾ of what you see on Instagram is fake.
Take real breaks. One hour break won’t make you lose time. It’ll make you more productive, especially if you’ve been studying for hours. Your brain will process what you’ve learned whilst you’re doing other things.
Learn how to be disciplined. Build a routine. Try to stick to it. But remember to change one thing at a time so you won’t feel overwhelmed.
Please go outside when it’s sunny and get your dose of happiness and vitamin D
Good people exist so please don’t be afraid to ask for help.
Be grateful. Always.
You will never know what people think of you, and most of the time you’re the only one who’s been judging yourself.
Don’t drink too much coffee.
Meditate, even for 5 minutes each day.
Don’t forget to have fun along the way !
While re-reading this I feel like these tips can be applied to everyone and not only med students! Don’t hesitate to write your own advice in the comments :)
Hope you liked it!
