So, I was assigned to develop a system earlier this month. The client had a wordpress theme that they wanted to manipulate. I started doing so but it was still limited to some things. It wasn't doing what I wanted. When time for demos came, it was not loading, was just giving me white spaces (I didn't know why). Time was almost up. I told two friends about it; 1 of them laughed and said "you'll find your way, I know" and the second one said he felt it's because I never consult people and I want to develop it all by myself. What this person didn't know is that:

1. I have a mentor who has more experience in the field, everyday he asks me to show him what I've done and if I've aproblem. The problem I was having in this manipulation, he saw it and failed to resolve it too (we 'anydesk' mostly so that we are kn the same page)

2. I am a member of a certain community called Geeks and there are a lot of programmers there. I presented my query there and they couldn't help

3. I try getting answers on stackoverflow but I couldn't

4. I shared the code on GitHub but everything that people were contributing wasn't working on my code.

Do I have to be coming on social media, tag everyone that has ever helped me every time? In most of my posts, I tell how being a programmer means having at least one community and talking about the things, sharing problems. I always state how it's nearly impossible to do this alone. (Or maybe I don't emphasize that enough) but anyway, this opinion angered and hurt me.

I have been listening to Vinyo by Namadingo and when I got stuck and hurt and angry like this, I went to Church and told Jesus that my Vinyo had finished 😭😭😭😭 Man. He comes through for me. I heard him say I should fill my drums with water (don't give up, keep working) and I did. Guess what? 2days later, it's coming to life💃. It's all functional and I'm just finishing up a few things 💃💃💃

😁😁😁😁 I am excited. This system if finally coming to life. Hopefully by Monday it will be ready for deployment and it's all on God.

I spent most of the days developing systems. I would barely get excited about already made systems. I've realized how selfish that was. Some of these products need improvement to suit today's needs. Monitoting and maintaining software properly helps the software to keep up with the market changes and demands. I had a goal to embrace my career and just enjoy my path; as long as I stayed in technology. I've achieved a few things since I set it up and I am yet to achieve more. One of the things I plan to do this year (not only as a Woman In Tech Malawi ambassador but also just as an individual who is very passionate about software engineering), is to help women in technology in Malawi to overcome their fear and unlock their potentials in this field.
