SERVE-O-RAMA
One of the things that we want to do well together is SERVE. It's super important for us to care about not just doing stuff for us and our benefit, but to learn to live for other people and care about other people and their lives and their stuff. This Friday we're going to try to embrace some of that attitude and do some serving type stuff together. The best part about doing it together is that it should also be pretty fun! So... show up at the regular time and be prepared to get some work done. We'll have a few different "projects" lined up that you can choose to be a part of. Probably bring clothes that can get dirty, we might even have some painting teams... so be ready! When all the "work" is done, we'll bust out some snacks and wrap up our time together just having some fun... there might even be a camp fire involved! Time: 7:00pm - 9:45 Where: Central @Conners Hill (9419 95 St) Cost: NOTHING! Bring: Some clothes you can get a bit dirty in.

ECHELON
We're now two weeks into Echelon and it's been going great! We had originally said we would not be meeting this week but we've had some leaders step up and say that they can be there! WOOO!! So... this week we'll be digging into the book of James! It's not too late to join us! Here's what you should do if you plan to come! The Book of James. - Read it. At least three times. - Find out about it. Who wrote it? Why did they write it? Who was it written for/to? When was it written? - Find at least one thing in each chapter that you want to talk more about. Could be a question. Could be an "aha" moment. - Find at least one verse or chunk of verses to memorize. 7/7 - Time w Jesus Last week we also talked about what it will look like for each of us to spend time daily pressing into Jesus. Part of our homework this week was to think about what our time will include. We don't want to "do a bunch of good stuff" so that we feel like we're being religious... we want to truly step into acting like our relationship with Jesus is a RELATIONSHIP and be intentional about investing in that relationship and pursing health. Some of these things will include Bible, Prayer, Journal, Worship... It's not too late to join us. We'll be in the youth room from 6:30-8:30. This weeks main contact will be... Adrian Bonin (780-289-2714, [email protected]) Julie Bekdashe (780-233-5918, [email protected]) We're really excited about this journey together!

GOOD FRIDAY - NO YOUTH
It seems that between Spring Break and Easter we're having more of these "No Youth" Nights than usual... but either way, This Friday we will not be having a youth activity. It'd be great if you were able to spend some of this "off night" time doing a few things through... - Spend time with your family. Real time, not just sharing space. - Read some Jesus! - Read some of the Gospels. - Read some Easter accounts. Luke 22-24 would be a good place to start. Even though there is no youth on Friday, we're kicking off a 6 week ECHELON this Wednesday! Check the details below.
Important Dates
Check out our calendar. (There is also a link below the calendar if you want to subscribe to the calendar on your smart phones)
In past years ECHELON has been a very core aspected of Central Student Ministries. For whatever reason, this year that has not been true. At the same time, we are deeply committed to providing opportunities for students to dig deeper into their walk with Jesus and the Life that He has for them! ECHELON is meant to be a time where students can come together and push away some of the busyness and some of the distractions that can often stand in the way of us pressing whole-heartedly into Jesus. We desire this to be a time where TOGETHER we can look at our PERSONAL journeys. Some of the things we will focus on include... - Personal disciplines that help to foster a life-giving relationship with Jesus. Things like prayer, accountability, bible reading, journaling... - Bible. We'll spend some specific time learning HOW to read the Bible in a way that might not be boring. And not only learning it but doing it together! - Story. How do we talk about Jesus and our walk with Him in ways that aren't weird and that actually make sense. Schedule As much as it is not a REQUIREMENT to be at all Echelon meetings, the nature of our time together will be such that the more of these meetings you can be at the better. We will meet on most Wednesdays between now and the end of May. Week 1 - April 16. 6:30pm to 8:30pm Week 2 - April 23. 6:30pm to 8:30pm Week 3 - May 7. 6:30pm to 8:30pm Week 4 - May 14. 6:30pm to 8:30pm Week 5 - May 21. 6:30pm to 8:30pm Week 6 - May 28. 6:30pm to 8:30pm Week 7 - June 4. 6:30pm to 8:30pm If you have any questions or just want some clarification, connect with Jud. We're really excited about this journey together!

It's spring break.. NO friday activity.
BUT... we do have a MOVIE MARATHON on Friday..

This year during Spring Break CSM will be hosting a Movie Marathon on Friday, April 4th. Here's the plan... Movies: Back to the Future Trilogy Cost: $10 (includes lunch and snacks) Who: CSM Jr. or Sr. High School Students Showtimes: Doors open at 9:30am (Youth Room) 10:00am - Back to the Future 1 12:00pm - Lunch 12:30pm - Back to the Future 2 2:45pm - Back to the Future 3 Last movie will end around 4:45pm. Pickup at 5:00pm. All of these movies are rated PG, although they were made in the 80s, so standards on what was considered acceptable vocabulary were a bit different back then. We advise that parents check out some reviews if you are concerned. IMDB.com gives some good parent reviews.

WASHBASIN (sort of)
SPRING BREAK is right around the corner!! So close you can maybe even taste it. Well... probably not. Anyway, we're coming off one of our best events in a while - wasn't that Car Rally awesome!? This week we're going to dig back into some WASHBASIN stuff. That said, it might look a bit different. The last two WASHBASINs have been a bit heavy, digging into some really good, really meaningful stuff. And before we take another turn in this Identity thing and look to how understanding our Identity in Jesus shapes some important decisions in our lives, we're going to sort of hit the pause button and try to dig into some stories! We'll have a couple special guests and we'll try to open things up a bit to invite some students and leaders to speak out some stuff. The big thing/question we'll be looking at is this... Having talked about Identity... as we begin to understand who we are as "loved by Jesus" how has that helped us to see what Jesus is doing in and through our lives? Should be a fun way to jump into spring break! Another way this WASHBASIN might look different is that we might spend a bit more time at the beginning playing some fun games.

WASHBASIN
So two weeks ago Adrian launched us into a new season of WASHBASIN stuff by digging into the topic of identity. We talked about the labels that can define us, both the life-giving labels and the not-so-helpful and even life-sucking labels that we wear. This week we want to pick up on some of that and look at how understanding our proper identity as a son/daughter of Jesus can impact and help us shape who we want to be today and in the future. Note on WASHBASIN: Again, just want to remind you all the WASHBASIN is the "bread and butter" of what we are all about. This is where we try to keep the main thing the main thing, and by that I mean, where we really try to be intentional about pressing into Jesus. We are utterly convinced that living life Jesus' way is the best way to live it and that teenagers and adults and really everyone truly have the opportunity to have their lives radically changed and impacted by the love of Jesus! So this is where we really dig in. We don't apologize for this being a more "churchy" activity, yet at the same time we strive for it to be a place where together we can be real and authentically engage in the reality of Jesus' love. So, if you hope that CSM will be part of your spiritual journey (or your son/daughter's), this is the place to be. Make it a priority to journey with us.

WASHBASIN
We hope you had a great time with your small groups last week. It's always good to just get out and do something fun with a smaller group of people! This week we'll also be spending some specific time in our small groups as a part of WASHBASIN. WASHBASIN is an event we try to do twice a month or so. It's when we try to step back from all the craziness of life and spend some time focused and dialled into the things that truly matter in life. It's when we try to spend some time very intentionally looking to the Pioneer of our faith, Jesus Christ (Heb 12). It's when we try to see what He has to saw about life today and how we might step into the L I F E that He talks about in John 10:10 - that we may have L I F E and have it to the fullest, have it abundantly. Join us this Friday as we dig into this new season of WASHBASIN. Over the next couple of months Adrian and Jud will be leading us through some pretty significant topics. What does Jesus have to say about who I am? About my identity? What does Jesus have to say about how I live my life? About the things I do with my body? About the things I look at with my eyes and listen to with my ears? Jesus says to seek Him first and to follow Him whole-heartedly.. what might that look like for us now, 2000 some years after He said it? We're really excited about this next few months of WASHBASINs and would love to see you all there. Remember, WASHBASIN is the "meat and potatoes," the "bread and butter," the "what its all about" of Central Student Ministries. So if you feel like you are part of this community, which we hope you do, we'd love it if you made it a priority to be at this foundational events.

SMALL GROUP NIGHT
Everyone once in a while we like to really try to step away from the craziness and the big events and just spend some time sharing life and building some memories together. We always say that RELATIONSHIPS ARE EVERYTHING and Small Group Nights are firmly rooted in that belief! We want to have some fun and build some memories together! For Small Group Night each of our groups do their own thing. You've been talking and planning this for some time and now the details are mostly all set. Leaders will be in touch with you soon with the specific details for your groups activity. NOTE... Unless you are a grade 7/8 boy, your activity is NOT taking place at Central. It is VERY important that you connect with your small group leader and find out what's going on. ALSO NOTE... with these activities being outside of our normal time and place we would ask that you do your best to provide the consent. Leader will be emailing that out too. Thanks! Important Dates

WASHBASIN
As much as we love coming together to play some crazy games and just have mad-fun together, one of our favourite events is WASHBASIN. At WASHBASIN we usually play a few super-quick games or activities, but the bulk of our time is spent dialling in at a different level. This week we'll have a worship team to lead us in some worship through music as well we'll hear someone sharing some thoughts on what we'll be studying and digging into this year. As always at WASHBASINs we'll spend a chunk of time at the end in our small groups! One major part of what we'll be digging into this year will be Jesus' words in what is known as the "Sermon on the Mount" from Matthew 5-7. We're going to be trying to draw some very practical, very tangible stuff from these words over the next few months. So why not read it? It's 3 chapters! Read it at least once this week. I dare you!
