Emotional Intelligence is perhaps the most underrated aspect of filmmaking. It's essential for those whom lead, regardless of what field they lead in and its also essential for artist as it gives them the okay to follow their gut.

Anchor of Film
Filmmakers can get caught up with the "bells and whistles" of movies. We want things to look great, we want the narrative to flow and we want to entertain and we want to do things that have never been done before. Therefore its common for emerging filmmakers to create "fluff" without substance. That's why we have to remember out "Anchor" the thing that brings the film together, that message the film is trying to communicate. Regardless if it's a comedy, actions movie or rom com and so on, every movie needs a foundation that holds everything together. #filmmaking #filmmaker #movies #films #filmmakingtips
So here Judd Apatow speaks on what holds a film together.

The best advice is the same as any other path we choose to embark on and that's to go all out. We usually want to conserve our energy or time or effort for....well we don't really know for what,, perhaps in for that hour of need or whatever. But sometimes we have to go all out to achieve our dreams and for a filmmaker that includes fighting for resources. Filmmakers compete for budgets, cast, crews and so on. In this fight there are a lot of set backs however where there is a will there is a way. We can't be half way in because the competition is too fierce so we must learn to go all out for this one goal. #filmmaker #filmmaking #director #filmadvice

A lot Directors, especially when starting out, get caught up in terms of doing everything. We have to be the cinematographers, the DP, the producers, the AD, the wardrobe department, etc. But here Quentin Tarantino state he believes the one job of the Director is to simply focus on being a director and let the others do their job.
To me this is a bit of a grey area but I'm curious to know what you all think. In a situation when a filmmaker is lacking resources, should that director limit him or herself to that one role?

Some one once told me when it comes to filmmaking "it's not a competition" but the truth is that, it kind of is a competition. Filmmakers have to fight for resources, budget, cast, crew and so on. In a lot of situations there is only one spot and if you don't get that spot, you lose. But the Silver Lining is that opportunities are not just limited to the ones that get away. If we keep grinding, we make way. #filmmaker #filmmaking #filmmakerlife

I REMEMBER...
watching Resoviour Dogs for the first time. It changed the way I watched movies. At the time I was trying to absorb as much as I could in terms of the #filmmaking process and that film taught me how "Less can be More" #ourfilmschool #filmmaker #wemakingmovies
