Honestly, one of the things I'm looking forwards to the most in Chain of Iron is everyone's reactions to Grace's power; especially if her relationship with Christopher is already somewhat developed.
I feel like tid's generation (especially Gabriel and Gideon) will be appalled at what Tatiana did, and will try to help her any way they can --but the Merry Thieves? James has been controlled by her for years (as much as that was fuelled by Tatiana + Belial), Matthew was forced into kissing her. They must think Christopher is the next one she'll do something to.
Idk, I just think we're focusing too much on the way Thomastair will be seen, when Gracetopher could potentially eclipse it. I mean, the only one Alastair has actual problems with is Matthew.
This isn't meant to hate on Grace, btw. I understand that there was a valid reason behind her actions, and that Tatiana and Belial are the true abusers. Still that doesn't invalidate what she did to all those men, nor 'unjustify' whatever reaction they have to her redemption arc.

I think that Christopher would care a great deal about the Oxford comma. He’d be a big enthusiast. And I’m not really taking criticism at this time, thank you

Oooh this is the best theory I’ve seen so far as to why the carstairs might owe the herondales!
my theory for cot is that james will be the one to get cordelia out of the paladin thing with lillth and because of that the carstairs will owe the herondales.
my guess is that he’ll make a deal with lillth that he’ll let belial take over his body and allow cordelia to stab him w cortana in exchange for cordelia’s freedom.
but!!!! we know that belial owns jem a favor because of gotsm, so I think that, since we know james can’t die, jem will do something to save james’ life and by extension belial.

All I want in Chain of Thorns is Alastair content.
I want to see him and Cordelia being amazing siblings, him interacting with baby Carstairs, and him and Thomas serving up soulmate energy. I want him and Kamala bonding over being POC gays in 1900s England and trashing Charles together, him actually being friends with Christopher and letting him infodump, and him getting back into music. At this point I’d happily read a scene where he meets Church and they silently exchange tips on making the best grumpy faces while Thomas and Cordelia watch in confusion.
Why can’t my favourite character ever be the main protagonist? Why do I always have to adopt all the ‘side characters’? WhyAmILikeThis

I need to add my own two cents because I recently reread NBS and CLS and this has been on my mind.
Let me just say that I work as a teacher at an elementary school and my school is very precise on what it defines as “bullying”. Specifically, a scenario is only considered true “bullying” if it is very one-sided (one kid heavily picking on another kid but not the other way around). In cases where BOTH kids are equally being mean and nasty to each other though, this technically isn’t considered “bullying”. It’s still a problem, obviously, but it’s not defined as bullying since bullying specifically is seen as being very one-sided / only going in one direction.
So, based on that definition at least, what we see of Alastair and Matthew’s relationship during their academy days would NOT be considered bullying at all—at least based on my school system’s definition of the term anyway. They were both equally cruel to each other, and thus they are more like enemies in that respect as opposed to a bully and a helpless, innocent bullied victim. Neither were innocent.
Anyway... thought I’d put that out there in case you’re interested in how my school would define the Alastair-Matthew dynamic lol. But yeah, that dynamic definitely has changed in TLH. One of them has matured and is trying to right his wrongs and the other... hasn’t. Matthew could definitely be seen as the bully now.
Sometimes, when I read stories related to the TLH kids in the Shadowhunter Academy, I always end up wondering who had been the real bully. Was Matthew really the bully (when he put all of Alastair's belongings in the South Wing before blowing it up), or Alastair (the rumour).
The it occurred to me.
They had been equally big bullies. The only difference between the two of them, is that one of them grew out of the phase and learnt from their mistakes, while the other becomes a worse bully with unhealthy coping mechanisms.
Alastair and Matthew are essential two sides of the same coin.

There’s just so many characters that are so complex with really interesting relationships in TLH idk how everything is going to get fit into only one more book. Like there’s so much potential there to explore with all of the characters and I just wish the series was longer or smth so we could see all of it 😭. I’m hoping ChoT will be really long and/or we’ll get short stories or smth of them in the future.

The fact that Cordelia and Lucie will probably never become parabatai even though that’s one of the only things they’ve ever wanted makes me sad :(

“I must be off,” he said. “There’s an orangery in Kensington Gardens that needs smashing. Ladies, lock up your outbuildings. James Herondale is in town and he has been slighted in love!”
