Alysa Liu banged into the international scene in 2019 as a 13 year old girl famous for jumps and nothing else. In 2022 she retired as a changed skater, one of the most artistically developed ones, with a medal from Worlds. It's 2025 and Alysa Liu is now the World champion for the first time after coming back to competition for fun after realizing she missed figure skating while she was learning to ski last winter. The narrative just writes itself.

shoutout to the usfsa for refusing to host skate america in a place that is both interesting and accessible. love that our only two options are bum ass allen and lake placid. might as well commit and do someplace exclusively accessible by horse and cart next year.
