"Pain is temporary. Glory is forever." I'm Jackie, a stubby 20 year old residing in Southern California. Ever since I can remember, I’ve been extremely unhappy with my body. And although I don’t feel completely out of shape anymore, winter always slows me down, and I'm no where near the fitness level I hope to reach. I am determined to make 2012 a year of change and strengthening, so I'm using this blog as a log to track my progress as I work to tone my ~tubs~ and build a positive self image.*This is a sideblog. I'm trying as hard as I can to fit in some workout time into my crazy days. I didn't do much at home today, but we did run sprints in class today (8 laps), so I guess I shouldn't feel too bad. I had the intention of doing a really good workout today, but group project problems sucked that time right up.

I realize that I've been a horrible blogger this month. I still jot stuff down, but I've gotten so lazy in posting (caught up today)...I really want to be consistent as soon as finals are over. I'm almost free!

*I had my 4th mile run test today. I'm really upset because I actually increased my time by 5 seconds. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I pulled an all-nighter last night and I had no energy...regardless, this is not cool and I hope it doesn't ruin my grade in running class.

I'm not a vegetarian, but I'm not a huge fan of meat either. And although I've had a burger here and there, and sandwiches, pepperoni, blah....I hadn't had a piece of meat as a side or a meal for a very long time..maybe for a year or so. Well yeah, I had steak today...and it was odd. I was full all day...and then my mom made quesadillas for dinner. I wasn't hungry, but I had some anyway. I really need to learn to say no to random hunger-less eating, especially late at night.

I'm very insecure with my tummy area because no matter what I do, the tubbiness just won't go away. BUT when I exercise, I can totally FEEL the muscles and it feels so much harder when i poke at it! It's not visible, but I'm starting to feel it...and it's all becoming more tangible. That's a step in the right direction...yay!

I've started using what i call "the big boy" weights in class and I feel it in the back of my arms today! This is really exciting because it must mean I'm doing something right...i think :D

The weather was extremely crazy and unmotivating at first. However, once I got out and started my run, that completely changed. It was pretty warm out... but foggy.... Then it started sprinkling. Never thought running in the rain could feel so amazing!

I had a pretty active day today. It started off pretty sluggish because I overslept, so my morning run was extremely delayed. I didn't leave my house until 11:00, and it already felt like 90 degrees out! I was out for about an hour and I tanned like crazy!

*I also cleaned my car today..and let me tell you! That was more of a workout than my workout itself. I died. I later accompanied my mom on a long walk around the park. The heat and everything else combined= an extremely tired Jackie.

Today has to have been the hottest day 2012 has had so far. Maybe not, but it sure felt like it. My run was a struggle because of the heat, but I was energized after, so I had a pretty good and intense workout.

Thursdays are really long days. I hung out with a friend after work...we went to eat. I'm not a huge fan of eating out because if I buy food, I want to eat my money's worth, even if I'm not that hungry anymore. It's a problem. But whatever...I had a spicy chicken sandwich from Stone Oven and it was yummy.

I didn't technically exercise today. I did have a mile test in my running class though.... I got a time of 7:31 and I struggled a little. My goal is to get to about 6 minutes by the end of the semester. I have 2 more tests to go. But I'm definitely scared of regressing and failing my final. These are my past times:
