Another piece of fanart, featuring toddler Esteban with his father figure, young sailor Mendoza (who’s not captain yet). Because this is one of the biggest plotholes in the original season : technically, Mendoza could not have brought Esteban to Barcelona before having returned from Magellan’s voyage around the world. Therefore, Esteban would have been a toddler, and certainly not a baby anymore. Anyhow, I’m thinking of writing a few oneshots (in French) to explore this particular period of time, and the budding father/son relationship between these two. :-)

It’s been a while, huh ? I hope you guys are fine and got through the quarantine as well as possible. Anyhow, as the fourth and last season of the Mysterious Cities of Gold is getting closer, here’s another piece a fanart. Yeah, I messed around with the backgrounds, and couldn’t pick just one in the end. So here, have your choice too !

Would you like another one ? ^^ In French, a dandelion is called a “pissenlit”. Then one day, I was watching a German show about flowers and they were talking about dandelions, which is “Löwenzhan” in German. And “löwenzhan” literally translates “ lion’s tooth”. Une dent de lion. Dent-de-lion, the other name for “pissenlit”. Dandelion. ^^

I love discovering etymological links between languages, like today I was talking to someone about how a circumflex in French indicates a lost s after the vowel and they were like “so même used to be mesme then?” And I was like “WAAAAH THAT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE BECAUSE IT’S MISMO IN SPANISH THIS IS SO EXCITING” and this is probably why I don’t have friends

Yep, another “Mysterious Cities of Gold” post! :-)

Because Isabella Laguerra (new, ambiguous character) is such a good addition to the show, and I absolutely love her design. (Mendoza seems to love it, too, by the way!)

Okay, so “Miraculous Ladybug” did well on French TV for that special Christmas episode, but is really nobody going to mention that the final episode of the third season of “The Mysterious Cities of Gold” (a series that is over 30 years old now) did just as well? Because that third season was SOOOOOOOO good. Well, not as good as the first season, of course (because that one will just never be surpassed) but it was so much better than the second and I just can’t wait for the fourth! Just saying. Bless Jean Chalopin. :-)

I suppose that pretty much nobody will read this but I’m going to say it anyway.

See this chart? This is exactly why fanfic writers can get so disheartened. I mean,look at that. I wrote that new fic yesterday and it took me a long time. I started by writing the first draft in French (because French is my first language, English is only my third), then translated it into English while making sure practically nothing was lost in translation. Then,of course, I had to check for possible mistakes and only after all of that was done did I post the story online (on FF.net and Tumblr). I’m going to focus on FF.net because I don’t know if there is a way to know how many people in total read it on Tumblr. Anyhow, over a hundred people read this new fic in the span of the past 10 hours. More than a hundred. And how many people were kind enough to let me know what they thought of it? Well, only three. Many thanks to them, by the way.

That last fic I wrote yesterday? I specified it was a one-shot for now, but at the back of my mind I knew I really wanted to make it longer. Now, I’m not so sure anymore.

I mean, I am not doing it because I want reviews or rebblogs per se - I do it because I love writing and because I want to participate in the fandom and share things with other people. The problem is, I sometimes feel like this sharing is a one-way street, and that makes me wonder, every now and then, what the point is.

Again, I am presuming that most people won’t care, but at least I said my piece.

Theway that Hiccup’s lips curled into a grin was mildly concerning. Infact, “mildly concerning” was a bit of an understatement. Eitherway, she was reasonably apprehensive–though such feelings weren’taccurately reflected by the amused tone she took up when sheaddressed his request.

“Just–trustme, Astrid,” he implored, as if chastising her for not havingenough faith in him. While she most definitely didtrusthim, that didn’t mean that she couldn’t be skeptical of thethings that he asked of her. Especially when such thingsinvolved leaving the Edge at a time when the chances of an ambushwere particularly high.
