Rose dipped her head in thanks. "Much appreciated." She passed him several books from the top of the pile, clutching the remainder under one arm while accepting the extended hand. A wagon would definitely be in order, for next time. Dusting off her scraped knees, she straightened up, headband askew. At least she had not knocked anyone to the ground, or been hurt too badly. "I run a bookshop not far from here, hence the abundance of reading material. Sorry to trouble you, I don't normally go falling around." She shrugged helplessly and adjusting her headband.
Equius was walking down the street in his normal clothes but instead he had on a hoodie above his tank top. He see's a lady drop to the ground he quickly walks over to her. He reaches out a hand to help up the girl. "Are you okay Mad'am?" he says with a sincere voice. He is at that point kneeling down with his hand extend to take her books and help her up."May I help you with those books?"

Rose hefted the books in her arms, trying to distribute the weight in a way that wasn't painful. Returning from a sale at the library, she was coming home with a great deal of material, but almost nothing of value. She knew the only way she could really make money was to buy popular books, wholesale, from a warehouse. Searching through used book bins was much more fun, though. In fact, she could not wait to read some of the texts she had picked up. Even if they were worthless in terms of their value, perhaps some could contain interesting information.
Stepping over a large puddle in the middle of the sidewalk, she had to swerve to the side to avoid a rotund woman pushing a stroller. Bringing a wagon, or even a large cart, might be a better idea for next time. It was then that the weight of the books shifted slightly, upsetting her balance and sending her careening into the nearest lamppost, grazing someone's shoulder along the way.
Rose hit the ground with a thud, though her books remained clutched in her arms. This was the point at which she was reminded of stereotypical rom-com openings, and considered informing John of the incident at a later date. "My apologies," she said, attempting with limited success to get to her feet without the use of her arms. "Rather overly uncoordinated, today."

Rose nodded and took the knife in her hands, taken aback at its weight. It had seemed much lighter and perhaps more decorative, sitting on the red cloth, but now she knew that it indeed had a more violent use. "Certainly interesting." the young woman said, keeping her fingers loose around it. The knife was certainly a beautiful object, but also a dangerous one. "I've never been inclined to hunt, but I do have several friends who enjoy it immensely." She brought the handle closer to her face, so she could inspect the carving.
"I'm sorry to pry, but I run a small business myself, and I've been having trouble. How did you start up here, all by yourself?"
jake studied her interesting behavior as she skimmed through him shop, taking notice for every little gadget at item in there, especially his knife, the knife he put so much work into making perfectly. He then got up and brushed himself off, and looked at the knife.
"You have a fancy for hunting knives? or are you just studying the craftsmanship? it is quite remarkably crafted, one of my favorites in the shop. Anyways, I havent been here for too too long, but I’ve been here long enough, I suppose if you count in the middle."
He got up and walked over to her and opened the glass where the knife was placed nicely on a clean red cloth to compliment the knives indentations and designs, he delicately picked up the knife and offered for Rose to hold it.
"You can hold it if you’d like, see how you like it, you don’t have to buy it, just try it out."

"Thank you." Rose's gaze skimmed across the assorted firearms, though she was unable to process much of what she was seeing. Unlike Jade, she did not have a fully comprehensive knowledge of weaponry, fictional, practical, or otherwise. Nevertheless, it was certainly intriguing, and more than a little confusing, to see such an arsenal within city limits. No doubt anyone who had their heart set on a purchase would first need to obtain a great number of permits.
Her hands hovered over the surface of a glass countertop, under which several more valuable items had been stored. A hunting knife made of burnished steel rested in a case of dark velvet, it's handle carved from the antler of a rather unfortunate cervidae-ish creature. Rose looked at the price tag nonchalantly, but quickly glanced away. Perhaps another time.
"Interesting stock, certainly." She raised her eyes from the knife, "Have you been here long?"
Rose locked the bookshop door with a click, neatly putting the key back into her handbag. There had been a few customers today, most of whom stayed only for a few minutes before leaving, but she had managed to sell a few vague fantasy novels and several large history books. Yawning, she pushed a...

"Snakes?" Rose said, "That certainly sounds interesting. It is fortunate they sell fast, of course." A thought crossed her mind, making a thin line appear between her eyebrows. "Perhaps I should buy a cat, if you would consider it a good idea? Cats go well with bookstores, from what I understand. It may even prove to be a step forward in the public relations department. Customers may enjoy the presence of a small furry mammal, after all." The girl became quiet for several seconds as she pondered over different ideas. There were so many things to consider when running your own business, and even after all the paperwork had been sorted and the bills settled, she could not get Tomes off the ground. At great length, she finally spoke.

"I'm going to paint it as soon as I can, that is probably a good idea. Maybe I should look around and see what others have done with their various establishments, and take a leaf out of their proverbial books." She smiled and adjusted her headband, "I'm grateful that you'd be willing to help, certainly. You can count on me to never have anything important to do, so whenever you yourself are free, your help would be appreciated. I can't completely reimburse you, of course, but there might be some books you'd like, somewhere? I certainly have a lot."
Seeing Rose glance behind her, Jade leaned slightly around her to look too. It wasn’t real pretty to look at, but maybe she could help. I mean, some bright colours could certainly book up business! Worked for her anyway. “Well, hey, if you want help cleaning up the place, or maybe making the storefront a bit more approachable, just call me over! Since I run my own shop and have Nepeta and Meulin working with me, it’s no problem if you need help  over here some time!" Looking back at Rose and smiling again, Jade started to rock back and forth on her feet a bit.
"As for running the pet shop? It’s not that hard I guess.. I mean yeah, it.. Is a bit more work than caring for just Bec, but with the other two girls to help me, it’s not that hard! We feed the fishes and the hampsters and mice and rats first, then the cats, then the dogs! And on the off chance that we ever have snakes, they’re always fed last.. But they go quickly, thank God!"

Exploration of the neighborhood
Rose locked the bookshop door with a click, neatly putting the key back into her handbag. There had been a few customers today, most of whom stayed only for a few minutes before leaving, but she had managed to sell a few vague fantasy novels and several large history books. Yawning, she pushed a dark headband over her hair and set off at a brisk walk, flat shoes making only the slightest noise on the pavement. A sharp wind had picked up, sending dry leaves skittering across her path. After several minutes of this, she found herself outside what appeared to be a gun shop.
She raised her eyebrows and strode over to the door, but did not open it immediately. To be honest, she had never been in such a store, nor had she ever seen one. Perhaps they had all be outlawed; such a conclusion certainly stood to reason. Entering quietly, she glanced around, "Hello?"

Rose blinked in the light, forgetting just how dramatic the contrast could be between her dim bookstore and the outside world. She shrugged helplessly. "No, I find myself with quite a lot of free time. I should have expected as much, really. But I figured it would be worth a shot." The girl looked over her shoulder at the faded storefront, taking in the dying flowers in the window boxes. Perhaps it just needed a new paint job, and maybe a sign or something of the sort. Not many would even know it was a bookstore, if they only looked at its exterior. It seemed more like a rejected backdrop from a Tim Burton movie, minus Johnny Depp, unfortunately. Turning back to Jade, she assumed her amiable half-smile. "Well, I must admit, I'm curious about your new work. You should tell me about it, when you've got the time. It must be tiring, caring for animals."
"I wonder.. I’ve seen a lot of them around lately.. but who should I go see?" Wandering around after changing out of her work clothes, she peeks into different stores here and there, becoming frustrated when everyone seems to be busy with customers. “Why must I be...

Rose looked up from her latest book and brushed away a stray hair, not quite believing that she had seen someone outside. There had been a grand total of six customers that day, only one of whom bought anything. Worst of all, her exquisite collection of fantasy books pertaining to wizards had not sold at all, making her mourn for that state of society. Rose was growing worried about bills and other expenses, and distractions, such as the friend outside her store, were welcome. Sliding out from behind the counter, she pushed a pile of instruction manuals aside to clear a path to the door. It always took her quite some time to extricate herself from the mess of her shop. The bell tinkled as she exited, and the corners of her mouth raised into a half smile.
"Hello, Jade. It has been a while, hasn't it? How are you doing?"
Jade: Get off work early and visit your friends
"I wonder.. I’ve seen a lot of them around lately.. but who should I go see?" Wandering around after changing out of her work clothes, she peeks into different stores here and there, becoming frustrated when everyone seems to be busy with customers. “Why must I be the only one who works in a shop with other employees!?" The small Asian girl continues to wander around aimlessly, still looking for someone, ANYONE, to hang out with…

I'd be happy to accept the invitation, John, provided I can find some free time. Free time really shouldn't be a significant problem at all, as I've had rather too much of it. I will keep an eye on the theater listings, to see if anything might spark our collective interest.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE INANIMATE OBJECT?
While it is the not the most useful of objects, I do enjoy the large, fluffy squid toy which seems to have taken up residence within my shop. The item which falls most within my favor is probably the garish ring my mother bought for me when I left home. I often take the opportunity to praise its utter gaudiness, preferably where she can hear me and know of my intentions.
