Hey all! I'm excited to announce that after much preparation, I have organized a community Ship Week event and a Magma paint chat room dedicated to the Hoyboy and Cat Angel Man themselves: Walter and Jonathan from SMTIV! 😈😇 Despite these two being an iconic alignment duo, and the SMTIV duology establishing their deep bond rife with with all the classic shipping tropes throughout the games (even with their JP voice actors having many Boy's Love roles LOL), there actually isn't much out there for this pairing.

We can strive to change that!

🎉WalterJona Week 2025 is finally here!🎉 When: July 20th (SUN) - July 26th (SAT)

✅How to participate: View the prompts above and create something showcasing both Walter and Jonathan, and their dynamic or story. This includes all official SMTIV iterations of Walter and Jonathan, so you are free to draw your favorite interpretation of them! From their SMTIV game duology iterations, to the official SMTIV manga iterations such as Demonic Gene and PRAYERS too. Each "Day" is comprised of two parts: ①Two prompts that can be interpreted however you'd like ②In-Game (or SMTIV Official Site) quotes from Walter and Jonathan that align with the prompts.

You are not required to use both prompts! They are simply for your inspiration to create something relevant to Walter and Jonathan, their dynamic, or their story within official SMTIV content. 🌟Have more questions about the prompts? --- 💙As a personal aside: This is the first time I've ever organized a community-wide event like this outside of the usual Megaten Drawpile/Magma paint chat sessions that I'd typically host on Bluesky--especially doing everything entirely myself such as: the research, the graphics, drawings, the lengthy FAQ, the WalterJona quotes compilation within the FAQ, social media posts like this one LOL, and more. This was a huge labor of love in wanting to bring together the mainline SMT fandom in some small shape or form for these two silly Samurai goobers that I love a lot, and whom also absolutely deserve much more love too!🙏💕 All of this said: Don't hesitate to join in if you'd like to participate! Remember that ship weeks are all about coming together, creating meaningful work and finding a community of people who love the same pookies you do! The boy and his namesake…

Contrast might be attractive. I never really liked the ‘opposites attract’ concept so much, but feeling drawn to the unknown you learned to hate throughout the years makes for an interesting dynamic.

My V is a Street Kid, so there might be a deeper understanding between both him and Goro because of them both being raised in ‘similar surroundings’ (if you can compare Haywood to Chiba-11), although the paths they took to survive only highlight how much their morals differ. Not to mention the differences in life experience, since Goro is in his, what, 50's? and V in his mid-20's.

Upbringing aside, I really like to think that traditionalist Takemura has this part of himself that he hid from the world, and V's presence makes it peek through the cracks.

Part of him is jealous of V's freedom, even if he wouldn't admit that to himself. There's only so much pride you can get from that ‘discipline and honor’ spectacle, I assume. Maybe V reminds him of the time he was younger and not as jaded. Or maybe not.
